Know better, do better. They were also concerned with healthcare professionals having enough PPE. Now we know it spreads more readily through the air and not a lot through surfaces. We know == think we have enough on this now== that many people who spread it are pre symptomatic or asymptomatic. So, yeah, I will continue wearing masks even if I am a bit sweaty.

The "no mask" advice was the recommended directive at the time this was recorded. By April, professionals were explaining that face masks were critical in slowing the spread of the virus. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater; the presenter does an excellent job of explaining what coronavirus is. I am writing this on July 16, when the number of COVID cases surpassed 75,000 in a single day and there have been 137,000 deaths to date. Still skeptical? Walk into your local hospital.

AND ALL 5 HOSPITALS HAVE furloughed most of the doctors! And those who are there at the hospital are bored to death...and are quickly counted as a china-virus death!

Her recommendations were accurate based on the information we all had at the time. A lot of research has been done in the last year, and that’s an understatement.
Wear a mask in public. What kind? The best you can afford.
Get your COVID-19 vaccinations up to date, including boosters if eligible.
Children should wear masks if attending school as the delta variant and its inevitable descendants are hitting the 7-11,12-19, and 19-24 age ranges harder than previous variants.
And anyone who thinks this only affects 1.3% of the population, know this: if the region you live in runs out of ICU beds and ICU overflow, you will be on the verge of TOTAL CIVIL UNREST as soon as doctors have to start deciding who gets admitted and who doesn’t. It’s an edge you don’t ever want to get close to.

Been there. But here's how I tend to deal: Touch it with a napkin or handkerchief. If you don't have a napkin, put your finger on your sleeve, near the opening, a couple of inches up, flip in inside out and itch your face with that. Or the inside of the neck-hole of your shirt.
If you've got viruses, the chances of them being inside your sleeve (or neck-hole) is pretty low. Still possible, but not probable.
What you'll find is that if you have a "replacement activity" that you know you can do, your face will complain less.

The serological testing is showing that for every 1 person diagnosed with COVID-19 25-85 had it and didn't even realize it or had symptoms so minor that they didn't seek medical attention. So divide the confirmed/probable case death rate by 25-85 to find the actual death rate...

Was the price we're paying now worth it? No one knows, I guess time will tell.
Not to mention that we've been incredibly lucky with the COVID-19 death rate as the previous 2 Coronaviruses had a mortality rate of 9.6% and 34.3% but a significantly lower transmission rate which meant both caused about 800 deaths each.

Yes, it was nice that she made it clear she was a journalist with no peer reviewed publications to her credit. As she precisely awarded herself an 8 out of 10 based on no reliable or explicable scale, it really put the rest of her numbers into context for me.
And as a journalist, who focuses on health care and ... foreign policy? She's clearly qualified to prescribe a massive moonshot-scale global effort to install state-of-the art health care centers in the third world as the 'best' solution to future outbreaks.
I especially liked her concise fact-filled analysis of alternatives, in which she hit us with a fire hose of data comparing the other two things she said that work - improving sanitary habits and travel/quarantine - against the one thing she said worked best, to provide compelling evidence that this massive global expense was the best option. Who knew that someone with an MPH, working as a journalist could execute such a complex economic analysis?
