I'm doing a stunt build on a 2023 R7 and this video is gold. Funnily enough I went through the same procedure i.e. trying to cut a groove and use a screwdriver and even an impact driver to loosen those bolts, which clean sheared 3 bits. This is a belated thanks for the upload brother.
Edit: I forgot to ask what size bit you used...if you can still remember. It looks like 5 or 6 mil.

Hey man, thanks for your comment! I used a 6mm bit to drill it :)

Thanks for taking the time to show how you drilled out the ignition bolts. So many videos skip the important parts that a lot of us tune in for. Thanks for not being one of those guys and showing everything.

You just... Removed the triple clamp with your hands? I've got a late model 04, the ignition is locked, no key. And trying to get the upper clamp off , for me, is a bear!! I'm thinking I might need a gear puller.

I need to do mine and I'm wondering if the slot method would work better if I heat the bolts to melt the loctite

I have seen someone do that technique before but I didn't like the idea of using a blowtorch on my bike lol! I did try using an electric heat gun which I didn't show in the vid and it didn't work. Hope this helps :)

Where did you source the security bolts from, when you bolted the ignition back on? Or did you just use standard bolts instead?

I used standard cap head bolt then put a blank cap in the head of the bolt if you know what i mean.

BenjiBiker oh nice, yeah that works. Do you have any pics of how the triple clamp turned out after you painted it? Also can you remember what torque spec you tightened the steering stem nut to?

@@richardhorne1673 i posted a video reassembling the triple clamp which shows it newly painted and also has a link of the service manual in the description for all the torque specs :)

Hey quick question, I got a aftermarket steering stem nut, black & gold to suit the bike. Is it as simple as unscrewing it & putting the new one on, or does the steering stem will have to be adjusted somehow once the original one has been removed? Thanks

Patryk Kubiak hey sorry for late reply, if you are just removing the nut all you need to do is remove the nut and then put the new one on to the correct torque setting 👍

Hey mate, is this the only way you know of to remove security bolts? Need to swap the top yoke of my 125 to pass MOT and I've just run up against them

    • @benjibiker6053

This the the way I found to do them. Some people use a dremmel to cut a slot for a screwdriver to fit but because of the loctite on the bolts I found it better to drill them. Hope this helps 👍

@@benjibiker6053 cheers man I also saw a method car mechanics use where they use a hammer and a punch to sort of force them to move counter clockwise, I might try that first but yeah loctite will probably prevent that as well so will probably end up drilling
