- Who were the mistresses of Louis XV before Jeanne Du Barry and Madame De Pompadour - Part II - Aside from Madame De Pompadour, Madame Du Barry and the Nesle Sisters, Louis XV had many mistresses, who were unofficially titled ‘les petites maitresses’, and whom have been largely forgotten by history. Today we’ll take a brief look at these forgotten women, who, for a short of longer period during the reign of Louis XV, played a major part in the life of the Playboy King.

I think it's really crazy that most of them were kicked out for trying to replace madame de pompadour usually the mistress wins and replace the other but Louis was very attached to the madame

He recognized only one of his illagitamete children, Louis Ame de Bourbon abbot of Saint Vincent de Metz and ambassador to Rome. Louis Ame was known as the Abbott of Burbon. He died of smallpox. His mother was Anne Copier de Romans Baroness of Meilly-Coulonge.

How did Louis have the energy to do anything else when he had all these mistresses. I had no idea. I would be interested in watching the film as long as Johnny Depp isn't playing Jack Sparrow. 🤣

That painting of Marie-Louise resulted in me having a major row with a professor when I was doing my degree in Fine Arts a long time ago. Dr-Whatever-His-Name put up this slide for the class and said it indicated a courtesan ready for sex. Being young and a bit naive (and having seen the original) I put up my hand and said, "It is actually titled 'En attendant le clystère" and as he was 100% anglophone I said, "And that means 'waiting for the enema'". Oh he was enraged. "You're making that up!" he shouted at me. "Non, pas de tout!" I replied, "Enemas were considered part of a person's health regime at Versailles, and yes, it looks sexy but it is not overtly about waiting for sex." He lost control over the class and I was summoned to the dean's office. I explained my sources and couldn't resist saying, "If you don't fully know your material, you should be more careful in what you show to a class perhaps?" I had put that painting out of my mind until now.

Wasn't there one girl that would have said no to him. I would have said no to Louis XV. Definitely would have said no to him not true love in my book.
The kings of France, I suggest you read southern victory series by Harry turtledove. It is A great alternative history story.
