- On the first lap of the NW200 Supersport race on Thursday 9th May 2024 Davey Todd & Adam McClean crash at York Corner. Fortunately they only suffered minor injuries and Davey Todd managed to go out in the next race and even won it, legend. It was lucky also there was no ensuing fire as Davey's fuel tank ruptured. I show this in real time speed and also 1/2 speed and slightly zoomed in.
More videos to follow over the next few days. - Спорт
Davey Todd is a class act. Getting himself dusted down after this crash, probably hurting likr crazy, then winning next race. What a cool customer.
I think I'd still be crying over my trashed Ducati. Thanks for watching.
@@GaryGSF I take it they won't have another bike for that particular class on Saturday?
He knows what the craic is
Vnb
Mike Browne was 21st after that incident and finished 4th. That is incredible riding
Even mounted the kerb
So glad all are ok. Well done Davey in your next race. Magic stuff
Also glad the guys walked away from this crash. Amazing that Davey was able to ride in the next race never mind winning it. Well done.
McLean reached 88mph judging by the fire trail
Flux capacitor.🤪
The best view of the crash I've seen. Thanks for posting. Honestly, has to be one of the least dangerous spots on the track to crash speed-wise. Glad everyone was OK
Glad you enjoyed it. There are definitely worse places on the track to step off but it was nasty enough. Thanks for watching.
Great footage, I don’t know what McClean was thinking but it’s first corner first lap and these things happen but what a comeback from Mike Brown, he’s a very very good rider.
" Dont Call Me Guy Martin" (LOL) had a helluva race to get back to 4th from 14th at end of the first lap. He was excellent at IOM last year before an off. I think his future in the sport could be very bright!
@@CrewGuyPJ 😂😂 “Don’t call me Guy Martin” that’s brilliant. He definitely does, it’ll come together for him and it wouldn’t surprise me if he comes away with a couple of wins between the NW and TT.
@@sleepwalker8600 LOL. When I saw the picture of the 2023 NW newcomers, I thought why the hell is Guy Martin in that picture? I few lads told me who it was.. so I commented, "Hell Im a fan already!" LOL
@@CrewGuyPJ Lol, it’s the hair. He’s a really good rider, we’ve been watching him for a few years now and he’s the real deal, 2022 Supersport and Moto3 Irish road racing champion and around 20 wins at the national circuits
Thanks for this. It was nasty enough. I deffo agree, Mike Brown is a great rider. Thanks for watching.
Superb video. Was at NW200… Davy Todd… the future is bright… sadly this crash robbed him of a podium
McLean had no business being at the pointy end of this race. Out of his depth and i'd imagine DT had a few words with him afterwards.
It definitely was a little tense after the incident. Thanks for watching.
😂😂😂
@@ononewheellad No McClean today thankfully, DT and the other riders safe.
I was there at York corner , Davey walked away from this crash then went out to win next race . Class
Mike Browne made some comeback from that............
Glad they’re both OK. Road racing can be harsh.
Wrong.
Clearly these riders are WAY BEYOND what they're supposed to be doing.
Theu haven't just "over shot the braking zone by a few centimetres, no, they've all braked well beyond the braking zone.
They, in effect, IGNORED the braking zone.
They're actually ignoring 50% of the race, which is the skill of slowing down so you can survive going around the corner.
@@Gma7788 "Riders" I only see a mistake of one rider
Davey Todd is tough epic comeback
So unlucky for 16 on the outside, I think its Browne, He would have had a great race, Thanks for the video Gary 🔥❤
That was so unlucky for the rider on the outside 😕 AM glad you're both OK
He was definitely the innocent party in it all. Both are fine.
Man those curbs would be terrifying
There were foam protectors on the kerbs but still they are terrifying.
Someone's ambition outweighed his talent...
Adam McClean is an expert at crashing. He cud easily of seriously injured Davey.
It definitely was slightly rash. Thanks for watching.
It’s called competitive racing too. These things do happen.
@@ononewheellad really, McClean is an also ran who is a danger to other riders as displayed here.
Darting for that 1st corner, no need, nice and easy, and race on the straights where overtaking is at it`s easiest.
@@Stickleback McLean was 10 second down per lap in qualifying, no idea what he expected to achieve during the race. Should be banned on the weekend.
The ultimate Sorry mate incident. Glad he got a win after. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Glad the beeb is showing it.
Should be a great day. Thanks for watching.
Is that what's called "Getting McClean'd-Out"??!!😯
Davey must have gotten the scare of his life, kinda one of those nasty slow crashes, glad both look okay 👍
Totally agree. Thanks for watching.
Always the potential there for that kind of incident.
Totally agreed. First slow corner, cold tyres and hard charging riders, it carries big risk. Thankfully they were able to get up after it.
The white road paint as well
I know it’s been said countless times, but these riders are awesome, in the true meaning of the word. I’ve done many risky things in my time but they eclipse me by miles. Roll on the TT.
I totally agree, these guys are superhuman. The TT is the greatest spectacle for any biker but NW200 is definitely another great event. Enjoy the TT.
I think the first rider to go down was on the brakes a little too hard while leaned over quite a bit. I think his front tire washed out and he slid into the other rider bringing him down also. I'm glad no one was seriously injured!
It definitely as you described but also Mike Brown run in a little fast and run on. The white bike may have been following him but committed to the corner rather than overshooting. As you say the main thing is they were ok after it.
I see someone made sure the bike was alright first..
The medical team were located there and were right behind them. Thanks for watching.
McClean did the exact same thing to Derek McGee (86) at the ulster grand prix a few years ago, This just reminded me of it
Maybe overdoses on adrenaline. Thankfully all were ok.
Great save, #16
‘Quick grab the bike’ thinks the quick acting Marshall
The video is a little unfair on the marshal as the medical team stationed on the corner were right behind him.
That's his job, to save the others, there is a medical team right there who are qualified to minimize injuries. Never touch a downed rider, you can increase the rider injuries...
Amazing bike did not flame on with all that fuel spilled from ruptured tank. Air suits look like they helped.
It definitely could have been so much worse.
Everyman dies. But not every man truly lives....What challenge will you take on??
You live more for 5 minutes going fast on a bike than other people do in all of their life.
Marco Simoncelli
Brave lads
Hi GaryGSF,
I’m Anton Severinsson (CirciutKings), and I’m working on a video about motorsport crashes. I would love to use this clip in my crash compilation. Would that be fine?
I will, of course, give full credit and link back to your original video. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
Best regards,
Anton Severinsson (CirciutKings)
That will be fine. Feel free to use it
Ooh that was nasty hope they were both ok.
I think they were both generally fine. One had a hand injury and couldn't race on but the other went out in the next race to take the win. Men of steel.
I don't understand why that dude lost control of his motorcycle. That was a rather routine turn at a normal speed.
I totally agree.....pigs refuelled and ready for take off. Great comment.
What scares me is he was hardly into a lean, and went. Must have been something on the road. I ride my bike regularly and often lean further than this.
I think too much front brake on cold tyres as it was the first lap sealed their fate. Luckily both got up and walked away.
I feel bad for Mike Browne (16) he just got cut off completley 😂
Mike was another innocent party in this one. Thanks for watching.
he also overshot and was lucky not to take out Davey himself
4th place for sure saw that happening n brakes early to sweep into the lead. Unfortunate the white bike low sided and took out the leader, but that is racing. Glad everyone i okay. The NW 200 is dangerous enough as it is
4th place guy (Richard Cooper) way very opportunistic and went on to win the race. Being on closed public roads definitely brings added dangers.
Oops, too keen on the trail braking. Easy done. Hope they’re all okay…
Cold tyres too after sitting on the grid for 5 mins after the warm up lap. I think they are both fine. Thanks for watching.
What a dumb arse move to pull on cold tyres.
IIt definitely was slightly rash. Thanks for watching.
Hardly cold tyres, a warm night, warm roads and tyre warmers just off. Just a simple racing incident, they do happen. Maybe that was your first time watching the bike racing..?
@@ononewheellad far from my first time. If tyres were up to temp as you claim, why did he lock the front?
@@ononewheellad do you think "tyre warmers" get them close to running temp?...... definitely ...put your house on it.. "cold tyres"....
@@donavonlarney ummm ya they do.
WOW not good Gary.
Thankfully they both got up and walked away. Only minor injuries. One of them even rode in the next race and even won it. Hard as nails. Thanks for watching.
@@GaryGSF Good news then 👍
He would never had made that corner if he was all by himself
watch out for that first turn , its a doozy !
Still first looking for the Bikes 😂
McClean cleaned him.
I guess the guy that got hit off was lucky the other guy had the front wash out rather than hitting him with the bike still up (I don't ride bikes, well not with engines)
The one that stayed on (Mike Browne) may have contributed to unsighting the white bike rider (Adam McClean). As I have never raced I too am only guessing. All bikers are warned of target fixation. Thanks for watching.
Lowside..too much front braking it gave way.
Nasty enough.
Hope those guys are alright 🙏
Dude runs over to see if the bike is okay…
Just out of shot the medical team were just behind him. Thanks for watching.
Make Lean made too much Lean! 🙊
MAN
….Das muss weh tun!
shits on fire yo
That Adam McLean should not have a racing licence he is a clown on a bike and to be honest is a danger to himself and other racers the line he took into that corner was completely wrong
I don't know much about motorcycle racing, but to me, seeing as Davey Todd and Glenn Irwin were much faster, I wouldn't see the point of even trying to pass either of them so early on, plus there was no one attacking from behind. With the level of commitment he had going in, he should have had the rear end slightly askew to give more control being that late on the brakes and to avoid the front from letting go.
He was definitely ambitious in this one.The medical team were located there and were right behind them. Thanks for watching.
@@GaryGSF Many thanks for the footage and enjoy the rest of the weekend!
That most amazing thing about this is that number 16 mike Browne turned round re joined and ended up in 4th place!! Amazing and up for the win on Saturday I think
@@leecorkill4797Browne is an amazing upcoming rider, Really looking forward to seeing what he can do this year at the TT
Geez when he clattered that kerb with his side OUCH! I winced 😫 any faster and he'd have been seriously hurt 😱
The sound was sickening as they came clattering towards me. Thankfully no-one was seriously hurt.
3rd positioned Guy so bothersome guy
Tried the Pedro Acosta dive bomber move, albeit unintentionally.
It was a bit hopeful...lol
Definitely too keen on the first lap.
One second hand Ducati 😮
I could have cried looking at it after this crash. Such a lovely bike.
Sold as low mileage and one careful owner 🤣
Probably cold tyres far to much fucking about after the sighting lap for BBC. Should be sighting lap form on the grid and go
I definitely question the delay between the warm up lap and the race too.
If people are puzzled as to what happened here I can explain. They crashed.
I love the road racing, but the crashes can be brutal.
Definitely a downside of the racing. No shortage of riders wanting to do it. Packed grids in this year's NW200.
wow, could have been a few broken bones there, well lucky
Totally agree. Thanks for watching.

He got Mcleaned out
Ireland?
It is yes.
@@GaryGSF Like Isle of Mann racing?
@@christopherpalmer4243 Very much so. Closed public roads. Only 8.9 miles compared to 37.73 miles on TT course.
1st lap. Cold tyres. Ignore me I'm just being that know-it-all but never raced in my life 😂😂😂
Adam may have been sucked in by Mike Browne who was clearly going to run on straight ... but like you I have never raced in my life. Good comment.
i can not understand : "why a fuel tank is NOT double like vassel's have !" alu or steel here we can see how danger it is ( nikki lauda crash F1 car - please remember) some brand's developing nothing "new / further" ...
I guess Davey Todd his enduro motorbike have plastic tank 🤔
It was lucky there was no fire after this crash. Davey's tank was metal and it split on the side. Thanks for watching.
Coner
The guy with the orange vsst runs over to see if...........THE MOTORCYCLE IS OK????? What about the poor chap that fell of it????? 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
It looks that way on the video but if I included a little more footage you'd see the medical team right behind him. Thanks for watching.
A lot of armchair racer experts in these comments
I'm guilty of being one of them too. Still, it must be challenging approaching the slowest corner on the track on the first lap.
This is a selfish villain.
This person has no understanding of public roads.
today on "totally unnecessary"
amateur at best..... maybee hanging leg out would not have loaded the front tyre quite so much...
Notice how the Marshall totally ignores the welfare of both riders and heads straight for the motor cycle🙀
The medical team were located there and were right behind them. Thanks for watching.
@@GaryGSF If you say so
there are marshalls for bikes and marshals/medics for riders
@@manx1569 Bit slow of the ground then weren't they?
If the whole thing had of burst into flames it could of been nasty for everyone. That racing fuel is no joke when it goes up .
