    Man Paul, I'm sorry as hell that I didnt find your channel much sooner than today! You have a great channel and make tools that are relevant to me and what I do. I've been a Welding Fabricator for 40 plus years, it sure would have been nice to have some of your skills at your age.

    I was completely on board here until you pressed the axe head on. I know it's not a big deal as long as everything is shaped to fit right and you don't over stress the wood in the press, but I can hear my grandfather rolling his eyes from his grave. Looks like an excellent tool! Enjoyed the video.

    Awesome work Paul, keep it up mate and good quality videos. Can I just make a suggestion, don't worry too much about having music on the videos or have it really soft, the work is interesting enough without any music and being able to just hear you working away is more than good enough. - Also, I loved your Damascus knife, I see you have a shop online but don't see it listed on the shop. - If you make another I would love to buy one.

  • @MyUnquenchableThirst
    @MyUnquenchableThirst 5 років тому

    Correct me if I’m wrong but it looks like you made the taper in the axe head wrong. You made it smaller at the top but it’s supposed to be larger. And then you made two perpendicular cuts in the top of the handle. And then just did a press fit? I mean I know you used a bottle press but over time it could still work loose.

    • @PaulPinto
      @PaulPinto  5 років тому +1

      The taper is supposed to be an hourglass shape, wider at the top and bottom and narrow in the middle. I made two cuts because I used two wedges for a tighter fit and the bottle jack gives me a much tighter fit and lets me drive the wedge way deeper than you ever could with a hammer because it will just crack eventually after repeatedly hitting it.

    • @MyUnquenchableThirst
      @MyUnquenchableThirst 5 років тому

      ok then I guess I just missed the part when the wedges went in.

    I like the addition of music, but I think it's a bit off for this type of video. I can see why you use very upbeat and happy music, possibly with inspiration from Alec Steele, but I would recommend to tone it down a little and give the tool and metalwork a more prominent place in the video. It's one of the things I love about your other video. I still think you should have music, but if possible, I think it would be better mixed with the raw audio, instead of having sections with each
