Nice nice nice 5:49 ×!@# was a hilarious shot with that big yellow warning sticker RIGHT THERE And from 9:47 thru 11:00 was a series of satisfied clicks. 50 points, sir. Good work on that thing!
I'd already done the crossover pipe due to a huge coolant leak, it's such a PITA job I don't know why you can't get a metal replacement. Now tackling the oil filter housing seals as there's a burning oil smell when stationary, can't locate leak but guessing it's this as it's so common. Struggled to put in service mode as it's a 2007 and it won't slide forward more than about 2cm, hopefully enough room. I was warned about Mini's, but my son wanted one!
Sounds like you are on to something. Idle smoke smell and burning coolant at red lights was driving me crazy. I wish you luck with it. Yea plastic crossover pipe, I bet there’s an aluminum replacement somewhere $$$ tho
I just bought an r53 I went to change the oil and I couldn’t remove the oil filter… even with a breaker bar and a pipe… I came here to see how to go about removing the oil filter housing…😮
I have an oil leak and I suspect it’s the filter housing gasket. I’ve done many thermostats on these and some waterpumps. That plastic connection that runs across the back of engine is a nightmare to connect. The pin that goes in to secure it is at a stupid angle. You spend more time actually trying to get it in place. I can’t believe I will need to do all this work just to get to the filter housing out. Another stupid design.
Best of luck to you 👊🏻 Yea the crossover pipe and the thermostat was rough especially since the plastic connector broke behind the water pump when I tried to take it out. Just so brittle. Some guys can get to the oil filter housing area without front end service mode but, the design, it’s too tight.
Nice nice nice

lol “Achtüng!”
The fan wasn’t moving so no fingers were harmed and I had to get in there. Torqued down is always satisfying

Congrats brother! You’ve tackled some of the biggest PITA leaks on the R56. I know the satisfaction of replacing those parts.
Thank ya!

Is it aluminum or plastic? I saw another vid of someone struggling to get one loose and they used an impact gun
ua-cam.com/video/YLxng_CZyxo/v-deo.htmlsi=e559-qi3rd8T2yNL
Check that channel out
Even though it’s an r53 it may be similar
@@RCXBuildsIt it’s aluminum how the hell did they fit an impact gun in there
@@RCXBuildsIt the oil filter in the r53 is behind the engine on the left side. Prolly going to have to remove it to get that filter off
@@Ben-un3gk *yikes!*
Good luck, there’s gotta be a video on UA-cam somewhere to help
good video yet crappy background music
Noted, appreciate the feedback 👊🏻
