I have a 06 gransport with a h pipe and std rear silencers. I think mine needs the silencer mod as per forum just to make it a bit louder in sport mode. I think a switch to x pipe would be better as its more italian and less american. Was also contemplating long common centre section instead of x pipe as per shift motoring vlog.
Just to get it once again, you just took the damping material out of the stock muffler? Only exchange of stock mid reso with x/h pipe and no decat. Thanks for great video!!
@@sidefx996 Fully understandable.. however its purely my own opinion. Comparing the sounds at @0:15 to @0:53 I believe the raw sound of the H-pipe is far more desirable. again, just my opinion. I often mention the 4.6l 2v Mustangs with the PI heads to be arguably the best sounding V8's of all time, when properly sorted out.
@@philcarroll9896 I know they are not the same engine, that's why I said it's derived. What i'm saying is that if Ferrari made a cross-plane v8, the x-pipe exhaust is what it should sound like.
Hi From Australia. The H pipe sounds unreal. So where do you position the H crossover ? Where the stock X would have been or higher up. And just to confirm, the mufflers are stock with just the packing removed and also no secondary cats. Thanks for any help.
Phil Carroll thanks so much for the reply mate after all these years, I take it that you did not replace any of the perforated piping . Hopefully no drone. Thanks. Mate.
Hello Phil, I'm using Google translator to send this message. I am sorry for it . I am the owner of a 2005 4200 GT with the stock exhaust, but I really like the sound made with the X Pipe. How could I do to stay within the antipollution standards for the technical control in France, and put an X pipe and for example at the end a TubiStyle exhaust which I find sounds good? I read the answers you gave to the various 4200 owners, but I don't understand what removing the secondary cat means (where is it, how to remove it and will the car be checked?)
@@gios30 sorry it was so late. I thought the answer was in other replies.. if you get stuck mail me I can get you an X pipe shipped… those French guys needs to hear this car. I come to Le Mans every year!!!!!
H pipe sounds more 🇺🇲
X pipe sounds more 🇮🇹
🔱 = 🇮🇹 therefore X pipe suits better imo :))
Good clip!
X seems more exotic or super car-like
H seems more raw and muscle car like
FUTRSCO they both sound amazing
Word. X-pipe any day

X fits this car better. But they both sound amazing.
Right. X sounds more like a Ferrari
Huge sound difference! Thanks for the example.
X, all day. Noticeably better throttle response and smoother exhaust pulses.
The H-pipe setup makes it sound like an Audi R8

They both sound amazing. However, the H-pipe when at the top of the powerband sounds goddamn glorious.
H pipe makes it sound too American. I prefer the x pipe.
Totally agree

The X pipe sounds more euro/exotic, the H pipe sounds meaner/deeper……. ??? Idk. It’s a win win
awesome video thanks !!!!
X pipe for the win
H PIPE FOR SURE
H pipe sounds much better!
H pipe always sounds better.
Sound is subjective. X pipe works better (and sounds better in my opinion).

Either of them are boner worthy in sound quality. I do like the H-pipe a little better overall but man that car sounds amazing in both configurations
X pipe is the way to go. Really makes it sound like the Ferrari derived v8 that it is
Can’t really compare. One is flat plane crank (Fezza) and the other cross plane. May be derived from the F430 engine but it’s quite different.
@@philcarroll9896 I know they are not the same engine, that's why I said it's derived. What i'm saying is that if Ferrari made a cross-plane v8, the x-pipe exhaust is what it should sound like.
Id put both on there lol
H is like a biturbo maserati
I like H-pipe
This is exactly what iam doing to mine 100%

Same place as the standard Centre X. Remove it, replace with X or H. This car had Stock cats , X or H pipe and straight through rear boxes.

@@dspada67 Just to clarify there was no secondary cat by pass on this car . Stock cats , X or H pipe and straigh through rear boxes.
Hpipe 👍🇫🇷

There are two different types. US cats and Euro.
X pipe goes in place of the centre section. Easy to fit. Buy one from Larini or get one custom made. You don’t need to modify the cats!

Italian V8, definitely H pipe.
definetely X
X sounds like A/T and H sounds like M/T. lol
can you provide some details on the xpipe set up? are there stock mufflers?
Aldo Carinci the X pipe is custom made but can be bought via SportsMaserati forum. The rear boxes are standard but with no silencing material.
are the secondary cats bypassed as well? I have an 06 coupe and have been searching UA-cam for a proper sound and you've achieved it
Aldo Carinci yes secondary bypass. Which do you prefer? X pipe or H pipe?
x pipe sounds much better!
