The Official BMX Tire Puncture Test! *See Which Tire Holds Up The Best*
Вставка

- Here's another BMX part information video and this one is about BMX tires! We explain the differences between steel wire tires and the lightweight kevlar folding tires and we also do a puncture test by creating real world everyday puncture situations by riding over glass, staples and thumbtacks! If you would like more information or would like to purchase tires then check out my Bike Shop's online store at www.scbicycles.com

lmao i forgot i had my yt on 1.5 speed, i was like damn, scotty must LOVE tires he's hyped as shit lol
Drank to much monster
as an old retired dirt rider, the maxxis holy rollers were the goat back in the day. indestructible and tons of grip
it's true, but us poorboys used the primo wall.
I couldn't agree more. I've been throwing on the same pair of Holy Rollers every autumn/winter for years. They've never let me down.
I loved the Holy Rollers on my street punk I call a bike!!
I’ve been running Stan’s sealant on all my tires. Just pour some into the inner tube. Haven’t had a flat from punctures in years. Highly recommended.
I can't believe with a shop that size, and no magnetic broom.
You will love it after buying one.
Damn that is an invention I never knew I needed!
Im very happy you do educational vids for the people scott. Thanks man
I’m the kid who Brooklyn built the chrome hyper bike for
Epic
I would love for bk to build a bike for me. Next time I buy one I'm gonna have him do it and then have it shipped since I live in Ohio.
@@neonnerd1364 oh that’s a good idea btw I just picked my parts and obviously the frame and accessories I wanted and asked him to build it
And
@@EthanRadcliff I’m just saying I want my comment to get a hart that’s all
Awesome video..very informative..thanks for this. good test
Do this again with tubeless bmx tires! I've seen mtb videos where they run over a board flat tire death gap style and lots of sealant comes out but the tire keeps holding air.
Well the problem with that is it's made for punctures and usually goes really low on psi which means rim strikes are easier
@@makncheese6836 there are inserts for that they are used quite often in trials mtb
@@newplayer3861 Lets not forget downhill uses rim protector inserts combined with tubless quite often also.
Love the vids Scotty
Love you scotty keep up the good work❤
Your the best Scott!
I don ride em on my setup but i do love the cultxvans tires man. So thick an good street in my oppion.
I LOVE YOU SCOTTY!!!
Love the review/videos Scotty!! Makes me so happy to see you back on a consistent schedule!! You seem happy again and that’s all you deserve brother!! One love! Much respect!
I love your videos!!!
• thanks for sharing sir scotty •
This was very helpful
What hub was laced to the orange/bronze rim with the pink cult tyre on it? Because it sounds amazing!
Hey Scott. Just wanted to know what size tire you ride cuz I ride park and some street so I’m wondering what size I should ride.
I think BK is taking extended lunch breaks and hitting the old fireball 😂
Lmao
I saw him do it.
he's earned every extra minute
Can you do tire Width next from 1.75 to 2.4 how does it affect the ride?
Can you and the guys do a review of what pads you ride in .
I've found it's not something people seem to talk about openly.
I love scotty videos and I'm rebuiling my bike and want to buy some tyres of his Web site but I don't no if they diliver to the UK?
you the man so inspiring
Hey scotty, I love the videos you put out!! But I noticed when you compared the weights of the Cult X Vans tires, that the folding tire is a 2.1 and the steel bead is a 2.4. This will definitely have an affect on the real weight difference as now tire width becomes a factor. The point you made regarding bead material is accurate, if you look at the Eclat Mirage tire in 2.35, with folding coming in at 555Grams, and the non-folding (steel bead) coming in at 615grams there's clearly a difference. That's a total weight difference of only 60grams or 2.1 Ounces when you compare the bead material by itself.
Cheers! And have a great weekend, everyone!
What about the different kinds of tubes? Would slime brand or a heavy duty tube or just a regular one matter? Or make a difference?
There are different KHE Mac 2 tyres. They vary in weight and sidewall strength. Would be nice to see a test of the KHE Mac2+ Proof tyre. It has a puncture proof layer and stronger sidewalls.
Hey Scotty big fan and I’m going to Florida in a few days what part you live in
Question....I don't ride BMX but I am a avid MTB rider. I run tubeless with sealant which would definitely seal up everything you guys ran over(obviously different tires). Do you ever run a tubeless set up with sealant to stop small punchers like this?
Devon smilies fuego tires are amazing. I’ve been riding for a while and I’ve only gotten 1 flat. Look slick but extremely grippy
I know out of the blue question (random timing) but is Dave mirraco still up and running if so do they make bikes bike products or both just a wondering I got a Dave mirra no.7 I ride
I had the tall order wall ride tyres and got 4 punctures in one riding spot , brought Bsd Donna squeak not had a problem since
Idk my street sweeper tires (now the V1 since V2 launched) are pretty thick. I had a pretty good size cut in close to the center that went all the way through but didn’t hit the tube. Actually ran it like that for a while
ANIMAL glh best tire ever made they deal with anything. best value for your money by far
Agreed
my glh are untouchable
EXACTLY THEY ARE THE BEST
Thats on god
If u are into squeak, try cult vans tires, super squeaky, lovin it
I hope more high end tech comes to bmx. For road bikes vittoria makea a 300+ tpi tires they are smooth. I run the exo grifters I usually run around 60 psi and I love them. Probably going to go from a 2.4 to 2.3 to get better clearance. I run tubeless also which actually lowers rolling resistance and feel of the tire like upgrading the tpi and i dont have to worry about flats really. Drops weight too compared to a regular tube.
you guys should get a set of the Tannus Tire Armor and you will see all three of these tires take these tests in stride.
I personally love my Federal Commands, but I got a pair of Ross Odyssey Keyboard tires on an old bike I bought off Craigslist and they are actually super dope
"This is not our whisky" obviously it's not, since it is a liqueur, haha.
I have tube protector things inside my tyres which work pretty well so far. U can also get those gel lined inner tubes which are "self-plugging"... they say they are puncture proof but I dont think thats entirely true. Has anyone thried these? are they worth it?
I've been riding primo v monster HD 2.4s, and they're recommended for 80-100 psi, But I ride at 50psi and they're still stiff.
Hi love your videos
I love you guys
The OG fly Rubens are the best tires ever made
How about showing how to use a patch kit! Have never seen one work ever! Always have to buy a new tube.
primo the wall and sanfu rim job was what i rode with alex triple walls. the good old days ! glad i was a kid when we had real bmx not what we have today.
You had me at FIREBALL!
Can we get a free coster product review.? I was thinking about getting one, but they don't sound like they handle abuse or lots of kilometers that well. It would be good to know if there is a bomb proof low matence free coster out there. There all are quite expensive so buying to good one would be good.
EXO happens to be nothing more than a layer of fabric added to the casing to give reinforcement. Frankly, I hated the ride quality and reduced traction of EXO to the point that I gave a very expensive pair of tires to a fellow rider that weighs 40 #'s more than I do. Being that I weigh 125 #'s, post cancer treatment, I need a tire that can conform to the terrain without having to be grossly underinflated. Trials riding background lends to the supple tire requirement I have instituted.
Needless to say, Scotty, I am glad to see you playing bikes and doing well. Continue mending and groovin'!!
We else rides wethepeople we need to ride them bikes I have the crisis with th merritt slide walls 2021. Thank you for everything Scotty and Matt
Good day!!
You should be doing weekly product reviews that would be so awesome
Bk been taking whiskey shots on his break lol
Can someone explain why making sure your tires are facing the right direction matters? I remember watching Spencer’s foresman build a bike and he talked about it. But I wasn’t wondering what if affects and if it’s really a big deal or not
For looks, so it looks good and for more grip since tires are made to grip. But it does not matter as much on a bike as it does on cars atv, etc. However if you ride dirt I am sure it will help for them to be correct.
Maybe try a Puncture Tester to see how much force each tires sidewall takes.
I got grey united signature 2016 tires iv hit rocks an its jumped the bike i have had a flat yet. My brother said he popped the original back tube but i have no problem with it running wt 30 or less is the prob rn tho gotta put more in once i put my tire back cause bije shoo guy sucks. My bars dont get me started he could have hurt me back not tigting them my stems fine but i move the alen key standing up just a half turn super easy they moved 3 times. Dont really wamna get his help again but ill have to an im making sure odgaf about the back frame its staying good iv had wheels come off that shoudnt have but i didnt harp the thing before hand lol
The stock kenda's on my $299 free agent vergo work grait its gunna suck when I need to replace them hopefully il get another 2 years out of them
I used to ride fly bikes ruben tires, and i would add a tire strip (cant remember the company that made them) but it was a thick rubber between tube and tire and i rarely got flats over a few years
i never got a flat with fly tires
@@GFEBMX hell ya the Rubens were goat back then
Over here in California, as a kid my worst nightmare were goathead thorns.
YES!! Those suck!!!! Haha
You guys should do a tire test with fakie sliders only going one way to see what tire wears better
You and Matt should come up with a non squeak brake pad. Btw how are the BMX disk brakes coming along?
You have to "toe in" your brakes.. Wrap a zip tie on the backside of the brake pad, closet to the forks (use them as a spacer between the pad and rim). Then zip tie your brake lever all the way in...Loosen your brake pad and make sure the front of the pad hits first! Tighten pad in to place (Toe in) problem solved!
I’d like to see a heavy landing and grinding test
Rode primo wall in the back and primo V-monster in the front back in the day early 2000 to mid 2000
I felt the wall was a bit heavy for me, so I had a V-Monster out back (1.95) and a Dirt Monster out front (2.1). I loved that for everything until I got an Animal GLH. That killed.
Do y’all use your tires after they have gotten a hole in them? I do
Should have tried something like Schwalbe Big Ben Plus that has some serious puncture protection, because some street riders want to ride places where there's a major risk of punctures.
Where berglar been at?
Only the best of engineers have a magnet in hand 😄
Here where I live, we have what's called a goat head. It's a thorn with multiple points. And they are tire destroyers. Which is why I run Tire liners. Plastic inner liner to prevent flats.
The tires are still good afterwards. Just need new tubes. As long as they're just small holes
Maxxis Holy Rollers though... yet to get a puncture riding them on 24" jump bike, doing park, street, dirt, and even DH...
Street is the gnarliest though, i live near the sea, and broken shells are honestly worse than glass!!
But it’s rare that you would come across a thumb tac out on the road. Lol great video tho 😊
Use 4ozs of Tire Slime in each tire, either prior to getting a flat or right after, & if it starts leaking after that, let the tire rest over the area of hole, & leave alone for a few hours, & then refill & you're good to go, if you can't wait, just still fill it up & you'll still be good, but it's better to let it rest & really seal the hole
There must be a couple different cult vans tires bc mine are 65 pal not 110 kinda weird
Ive got the Maxxis maxx daddy on the front and the Primo v monster on the rear. Ran this combo for over a decade. Use to use the Kenda version of the v monster in the rear till i bought a bunch of v monsters to go with the maxx daddy
My #merrit slide walls I've rode threw Glas and rode over a screw😬😬😬 they prefect still I really love these tires they are smooth fast and goes from 80psi to 110psi. I can't ride low to bouncy so I ride 80+ not good for my wrist so I'm thinking of getting primos for my fries cuz the pair I have for my wife are thick and comfy
🔥🔥🔥
KHE mac 2 tyres are getting hard to find in the UK and tyre prices are going up start stocking up now guys if i was you
Shoulda chucked a primo wall in there. They are like the chuck norris of bmx tyres! 🤣
Dude that's my favorite tire
I rode strictly walls for the last few years of riding as a teen. Trying to get back into bmx at 34 but just started a new physically demanding job so I'm whooped at the end of the day plus this is the highest paying job ive ever had and I'm kinda scared of hurting myself and being unable to work for a period and end up fired
@@negligent666primo re-released the wall not long ago.
@@yarders9191 yeah I saw that but I couldn't find it in stock. I haven't looked for around a month though
cut open a couple of old tubes and slip them between your tire and the real tube. Adds a bit of weight but makes it tough as nails
Does anyone still use that green slime?
How about inner tubes? Let's see how those tubolito's hold up
GLH tires for life
They should make a schwalbe marathon bmx tire haha
I ride with tall orders and I love them
Best thing to use be a foam tube if your worried about flats. Foam tube will last until the tire tear half way around in the center of the tread with the tube showing lol
Glass can kill your tires and be hard to find I had a couple holes from a shard that I could not find in my h5 comps on my Trek
If you do pop your tire and have to ride it I’ve been there but here’s a tip put the tire on the outer side of the rim it’ll save your rim and your tire will most likely be fine to ride again better your tire to get damaged then your rim 👍🏻
I want to see you do a 180°
Should've tested the old animal GLH tire
I have the odyssey path pros
Vittoria has tires with 4c
My solution is to deal with the extra weight and run tire liners. Haven't had a flat in years.
@Scott Ciancanelli One of my tire liners is made by Slime.
Now they goin put those tires back on the shelf lol jk
Everyone in the comments with their one tire that didn’t pop for a season and now swear by it for life
Yoo look up tannus armor! It's a insert that covers from bead the bead!!! It will make any set up reliable! No Flats!!
You've actually mastered commercials
Should have done screws/bent nails before the thumb tacks thats the main thing i run over and pop tires on people love leaving random screws in the streets
I'm 100% buying the pink cult tires
Should have taken dna from the fireball bottle, bet the guy who threw the deck in there drank fireball
Its like 'Project Farm' for bike parts.
