I was there in 83 man what a gig hadn’t yet turned 23 , eight of us went down in the back of a red ford transit van, still gives me goosebumps Coverdale always delivered and left you wanting more, what a time to be alive my generation has got to be the luckiest to live through this era rock music .
I was also here in 1983 I was 19 years old... it was à magical moment ❤
Absolutely
Aww I had tickets, but because of work I couldn't go 😢 went 4 years later though in 1987 , and had just become a dad 😅
You're so right. Brilliant music from truly talented musicians. Sorely missed in this age. I was there too, three years after Bernie Marsden and MIcky Moody blew the stage off!
❤
Ohhh, Cozy ! Jon Lord ! MIcky Moody !! and David (with good voice and dark hair)of course . Not the original line up but still great . One of the best moment of Whitesnake :)
The way they first played/sang it with Hobo instead of Drifter
RIP Cozy, you made every band better
My brother and I were there….it was our first concert 17 & 18 year olds and we loved every second of it…Dio, Twisted Sister, Meatloaf, ZZ Top, Y&T…magic memories
Think it was Diamond Head not Y&T
@@bobbyp1701 you are correct. Where on earth did I get y & t from
Lucky, lucky you!
This is what you call TRUE PROFESSIONALS 😁👍🏻
I was at this concert. I remember Cozy Powell's drum solo. We got up at the crack of dawn to get a train up to London and then a coach to the festival from Victoria.
He lost his Redcar accent by then and now he’s got his James Bond accent. Back in the day when Whitesnake was good. Thanks for posting this.
I saw this line up at Birmingham Odeon in 81. My first big gig as a 16 year old. Bloody marvellous.
Cozy was part of MSG in '81
Marsden, Murray, and Paice were in the lineup in 81, this lineup has Galley, Hodgkinson, and Powell respectively. I saw them in 81 too. Fantastic. People forget just how good Coverdale is as a soul/blues singer. When he went hair metal for the US market he lost that and never really got it back.
@@michaelcottle6270 Ah, now the line up that I saw definitely had Cozy Powell, Bomber Hodgekinson and Mel Galley. My first proper gig after the Buzzocks in 1978, LOLZ. And yeah, I much prefer the heavy rhythm & blues to the 80s hair metal. This was the music I grew up with and loved a lot. And stil do.
Bloody Luxury!
@@michaelcottle6270 Totally agree, he did a lot more screaming too which ruined his voice in the end.
Cozy. One of my fav drummers. RIP. Jon Lord. Legendary. Iconic. RIP. Coverdale & Whitesnake. Ruling their day!
❤❤❤
what a fucking day will never forget this rest in peace Cozy❤
What a voice. What a band. Great performance.
I was there. Loved Cozy's drum solo with the helicopters
Great performance. Jon Lord. Cozy Powell. David Coverdale. All giants. One of the greatest hard rock concerts I have ever seen on You Tube.
Shame Bernie Marsden was out the band by then. But Mel Galley was a worthy replacement.
❤❤❤
Extra ordinary lineup and superior voice of David! 😊
They were inspired here!
No, it was not. Ian Paice and Bernie Marsden better fit for the band, than Powell and Mell Galley
Absolutely!!@@dsecch
I was there that day,I won two tickets in local paper, my mate and I were unemployed at the time and skint. We got the bus from Darlington to Nottingham, then a local bus to Donnington. We bought flagons of cider in the village and walked to Donnington Park. We had a great time and got very pissed. We had to hitch a lift back to Darlington as we were skint.
This line up is a dreamteam. And makes me remember David had a truly fantastic voice.
The dream team was Coverdale/Lord/Marsden/Moody/Paice.👌
What a voice!!
Was at this gig. Had just got my A level results and four of us travelled up in my girlfriend's mini. We are still all together and every year my mates misses wears the tour T-shirt on the anniversary of the concert. Where did the time go LOL !! Great days though 😀
probably the best line up
icons of the business coverdale , the late great Jon lord master of the hamond, Cozy powell the one & only never to be repeated RIP the monsters of rock
totally agree.
The only reason I am watching this is because of my admiration of Jon Lord, rest in peace ❤❤❤❤❤
Same but also for Cozy Powell. What a phenomenal hitman!
❤❤❤
and Cozy
?
I was there, just £10 for the day if my memory serves me. Great memories and a fantastic bill with ZZ Top, Twisted Sister, Meatloaf and Diamond Head.
Never seen/heard this one with this lineup, thanks for uploading!
Infinitely better than the remixed version that gets played on the radio these days
Ya this hobo version.
For about 40 years my favorite band All those are great musicians DC what a voice ❤❤❤❤
Simply put,Stunning.
Mr. Colin "Cozy Powell" Trevor Flooks 😢
Mr. Jonathan Douglas Lord 😢
Mr. Melvin Galley 😢
Interesting fact: Jon's name was actually spelled as 'John.'
@@grobbler1 Correct, John not Jonathan. But he always spelt it as Jon, just like Ritchie Blackmore is really Richard.
They were the days, unbelievable performance and brings back so soooo many memories. Ty David, Cozy (RIP), Jon, Bernie etc
I was there RIP those of the band who are not here now.
I was there as a spotty faced 17 year old in my denim and leather with about 6 mates! Fooking brilliant line up and all round day out! Came down from Manchester all stuffed into a mates Blue Morris Marina, which looked like it was doing a wheelie all the way down the M6! I recall a massive plastic bottle throwing storm at some point, the contents of some of said bottles clearly didn't come from any refreshments stall at the event!! Brilliant! RIP Jon Lord & RIP Cozy Powell ❤❤🙏🤘🤘
What a great voice, my favourite. RIP Cozy and Jon, superb band
Wonderful performance of very professional musical artists! 💚💚💚🎸🎸🎸💪💪💪🤘🤘🤘👍😉
Close to the best...only the marvelous Bernie Marsden is missing...the heart and soul of the Snake!
I was there, but I don’t remember Ian Paice not being there. Last time I thought I’d seen Cozy Powell was when he was playing with the Michael Schenker Group. I also remember going to Bradford St George’s Hall to see that, and the first concert was cancelled, as he’d punched Schenker backstage, so he buggered off!
(Proper version of ‘Here I go again’; sadly not the one you ever hear being played!)
Paice left Whitesnake after the Saints & Sinners album in 1982. This performance was 1983.
Did Cozy Powell punched Michael Schenker?
Best line-up. Bluesy-rock ... pre-big hair 80s widdling.
Best WS -Line up !
Cozy Powell is nothing next to Ian Paice!
Thanks for sharing nice upload.
Saturday 20th August 1983. Bands introduced on stage by Tommy Vance. Went on a Yamaha RD350, aged 19, great times.
Coś pięknego. Super.
Dzięki. Tak trzymać:)
I really miss those guys they were all some
GRACIAS!!!
OMG, The Misstreated version is similar to the way Rainbow performed it live, probably something Cosy Powell brought with him.
Best lineup ever.
I loved this song !
What a Line Up 🎉. Mandy Legends on Stage.
Who is Mandy Legends? I don't see a female on stage.
I saw them in 1985 Rock in Rio different lineup but still great!
Sounds great!
I was there!
Amazing concert.
Saw them in palais de Beaulieu, Lausanne, Switzerland.
The Lord has risen!
The Best Whitesnake Lineup
For sure!
Not at all, the best line up by far was David Coverdale, Bernie Marsden, Micky Moody, Jon Lord, Neil Murray and Ian Paice. This here line up was good but not as good.
Bernie Marsden said in an interview that he was at this concert. Must have been a bitter sweet experience for Bernie.
@@CB-xr1eg don't forget Neil Murray ;-)
@@madmanne65 OOPS!! Sorry Neil, I'll edit you in.
Che anni fantastici per la musica...🤟🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🥁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
this band along with Thin Lizzy rehearsed in the early 80s at a studio in Blackpool called Berlin Studios cozy Powell had 2 silverYAMAHA twin bass kits one of those kits is in the loft of said named studio to this very day, and the owner and I are planning to bring it down one summer and showcase it, I believe the second kit is privately owned, a video of that kit has been on youtube called "cozy powells slide it in tour kit"
i was there what i can remember, classic whitesnake Jon and cozy Micky&super Bernie Marsden of cause David😀😀😀😀😀😀
My first festival 16. Still remember this as clear as day
Absolute Perfection 🤘
Is this the lineup that recorded the "Slide it in" album. That is one of the best albums ever, I think.
Yes it is. Possibly my favourite Whitesnake album.
man that sucks: "While a member of Whitesnake, Mel Galley badly injured his arm in an accident at a fairground in Germany and
had to leave the band, as he was unable to play the guitar because of nerve damage as a result of incompetent surgery."
I'm supposing in 1983
Mistreated is fantastic!
This was my first of 7 Donington MOR's...
Fantastic....Tawny Kataan would be the icing RIP
Coverdale back in his glory!
Coverdale e tutti grandi artisti nei whitesnake
Brilliant!!!
MELHOR FORMAÇÃO DO WHITESNAKE. SENSACIONAL.

I went to the donnington warmup at the Southampton guildhall it was brilliant sadly didn't get to donnington
One of the best lineups ever as Whitesnake. David, Cozy, John, Mickey, Bernie and Mr Murray on bass.
Excellent concert and I was there the year before when Rainbow were headlining.
Can't be Murray on bass as this guy is left handed.
Sorry, Colin Hodgkinson 👍
@@Mark-ry1fl bassist is only on thr screem for a few seconds so easily done! Being a bassist myself it’s the first thing I look for 😎👍
This wasnt the first band Cozy played Mistreated in, he played it in Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio as well.
and he was the absolute dogs bollocks in Rainbow as well. The best drummer Blackmore ever hired, no question whatsoever. Rising is an absolute masterpiece that still stands up today, fifty years later.
@@stevem-h3562 Indeed ! Rainbow with Dio and Cozy is one of my absolute favourites, Dio is my favourite singer.
Ads are killing UA-cam music videos!!🆘💔
Voces privilegiadas
Lejos el mejor David
Que buena formación me parece que Coverdale queda vivo exelentes músicos.

When Micky Moody and Bernie Marsden quit Whitesnake, so did I
Piękne lata zespołu i jon lord wokalista w wspaniałej formie ....uwielbiam no i pałker, szkoda faceta
The real Whitesnake.....before the fluff ball era descended on us.
