  • As tropical activity in the Atlantic Ocean quiets down again, attention is shifting back to the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, where there are increasing signs of atmospheric conditions favorable for the development of possibly the next named storm sometime next week.
The National Hurricane Center is now officially monitoring the area for tropical development, giving low odds of development for now within the next seven days. Further development may loom beyond seven days, according to the FOX Forecast Center.

That low that they are talking about , the one which is closer to Bermuda than anywhere else has been slowly spinning for at least 2 weeks now .
A lot of smaller vortex lows have spun off of it. Meanwhile water surface temperatures are at never been seen before highs, but despite the forcasts the "worst hurricane season" ever is fizzling out. WHY ?
Those record high temperatures have created turbulence and wind shears that created Derecho winds, massive thunderstorms and tornados that stirred up the atmosphere and prevented large scale organization.
These are things that you don't see on a computer.

It's important to note to most of us weather laymen, there isn't even a defined low yet to run definitive models off of. So don't assume you're in the clear or in the line of fire with any level of certainty beyond something forming and moving generally north into the cauldron. Check your supplies now if you're in the gulf coast, yucatan, and cuba so you're not rushing later and keep a watchful eye on this area.

Just have your vehicle topped off or at least 3/4 full through this time period. Read my note above for some insight as I'm definitely NOT a spinner layman I been watching these things before most of these forecasters were even born. I've been through no less than 8 eyeballs during my long stay here on this rock as well. Here's some points to ponder while reading my note. Do not live in a residence that is below 15 feet ABOVE MSL. And do not live in a residence within tree fell distance. Low pitch "hip" roofs are best but high pitch gable roofs are not. What happens is during high winds the leeside gets the plywood sucked off the trusses. Flat roofs are best.. take a look at Bermuda. All their roofs are concrete, mostly flat, all low pitch, hip style very few gables.

I don't know whose writing this GFS code but they need to go back to school as they've consistently missed the mark this year. It seems like to me that doomsdayers are writing the code. Here's the thing. I go back a lotta years. Before models in fact. And historically nothing happens atta the Caribbean until after the first. Typically from 6.1-8.15 and 10.1-11.30 those two windows are looked at the most. But outside those windows the window of nastiness prevails.. that's the window from 8.15-10.1 that's basically controlled by the ITCZ. Well this year the ITCZ fizzled out really early and that's why there's nothing going on. However none of these models picked up on the fizzle out. For some reason it moved North from around 15N to 20N (about a 300 mile shift)... just enough to put T Storms coming off the demarcation of Congo/Sahara into deep doo-doo instead of happy water. Yeah the water is colder the further North you go and the air is both dryer and warmer. And not only that you get atta the doldrums and into more shear atta the West as well. Are you getting all this?

What's going to Florida? Bit early for that you need fronts to drag these spinners over us. Well we don't get fronts in South Florida until about the 15th. Further North a bit earlier but probably not until the first as that's been the historical.. The GFS has been way too aggressive this entire season I think doomsdayers modified a few too many lines of code.
