@@louiseyhannah Not sure if anyone in your Chat let you in on this but, when Monsoon and Armstrong talk about "Memes" they're referring to the words old definition. Memes: "A unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another". Examples would be: "Nationalism, Unilaterlism, Materialism." Always fun seeing peoples reactions to playing this Game for the first time :)

28:46 I remember this, after the Monsoon fight Raiden will randomly dip in and out of his Jack the Ripper persona during codec calls. Really adds to the comedic undercurrent of the game when you can flip seamlessly from some dark and edgy call with Doktor about soldier trauma and the horrors of war straight into a cute tea time picnic call with Courtney where she goes in depth about her favorite cuisine
That usually happens if you didn't take that call from earlier in the level, or from the previous level, so if you did, it should actually be coherent

I love seeing folks get into Metal Gear through Rising. It’s just complete bewilderment, since it’s the last game in the series chronologically, but they almost always have a blast anyway.
The sad thing is most people don't go back and play the Solid games. I really hope Hannah is different.
My first MG game was MG1 and im only 14 now
I think it's mainly because hack and slash games have more appeal over stealth games (yes I know there's more to both rising and mgs, but throw me a bone)

Usually I get annoyed and dissapointed when a UA-camr doesn't figure out a literal core mechanic of a game that is quite literally essential, but holy shit i'm just impressed.
Getting through like 90% of this game without parrying is a feat of god. I salute you !!

There was one guy who managed to beat the entire game without parrying at all. He said he was not able to learn it so he tried to make do. In the process he learned that shin kicks (I mean the slide hits you do when Ninja Running) stagger enemies. He beat THE ENTIRE GAME with mainly this move. It was insane.
I don't remember if it was on Normal or Hard, but still, that is an achievement.
I never realize how to parry in my first play, i only evade all the time, then see a gameplay and think WHAT?

@@user-xx6vy9ri8pjust looked up how he loeses those arms in mg4 and I can say he loses both completely, like shoulder height(one does he remove himself cause he was trapped under rubble and needed to move quickly to save snake, soo the arm gotta go, the other arm is later missing when raiden returns soo he was once completely armless in mg4 and fought without arms) Also he "bleeds" a white liquid soo I guess he got after mg4 better replacements with actually organic material possibly for nerves which would need blood... that would be a explanation why he bleeds blood again in the beginning of metal gear rising.
I mean to clarify, the arms he lost in MGS4 were both already artificial. His entire body was cybernetic at that point except for his spine and his skull, at least all of his skull besides his lower jaw. @@undercover5048

The developers of this game took Raiden from Metal Gear Solid (which is a relatively gritty, political stealth series from what I understand) and said “Hey, he’s a cool cyborg ninja” and just ran with it. And they ended up making this wild, epic, and sometimes goofy masterpiece of a spin-off.
Tbf Raiden himself is a bit of a goof sometimes. He may be a child soldier with some past trauma, some good killer instincts and is capable of mowing down walking tanks and MG Rays but he’s also a movie nut and he can be silly at times whether it’s intentional or not. Tbh he was the only viable candidate for a protagonist in this type of MG game.

@@iReiGNxx supposedly there’s talk about a sequel being developed or at least the idea of one, nothing concrete from what I know but there’s still a chance it could happen especially since it has experienced a major spike popularity in recent times.
You really ought to play MGS if your understanding is that it's "gritty." It's just as fun a lot of the time as this, just a different genre and a LOT more story heavy.

the first 30 of gameplay of this game are like pure serotonin injected into my nervous system, the absurdity but the seriousness with how they treat is truly a masterpiece (and the music is just orgasmic)

Glad I discovered your channel when you were playing the DMC games, 'cuz that means I have a frontrow seat to watching you go through every stage of insanity MGR puts people through.
39:34 Is one of my favorite parts about this game. Aside from Sam's big ass cyborg arm, that's pretty much it. He's this late game boss and is one of the hardest, but is the most normal guy out of everyone including Raiden(who is nearly full cyborg) and he was THIS strong.
Gotta love the reactions to the banger soundtrack! I still listen to the OST years later

I feel like we have to give a lot of credit to MaX0r and other memelords for bringing these games, like MGR and DMC further into the mainstream. As someone who was convinced by others to take the plunge a few years back, I also love seeing people play through these for the first time. So incredibly underrated.
Edit: at the Monsoon fight, I literally said "Yup she hasn't learned to parry yet" not 10 seconds before you put that note on screen lmao. I was HOWLING

So there are 2 DLC stages, one for playing as dog shaped robot buddy and one for playing as Sam. Sam's boss is the only one I couldn't get the no-damage achievement on, and after no-damage Raiden vs. Senator, that says a lot.

I kept wondering what was wrong in the armstrong fight (in my perspective) and then i realised... she's not locked on so the camera is not auto focused on him and she has to keep moving the camera to look at him while ninja running.

Replay the game and try get all the unlocks, there is so much to do, you can find 6 endurance cells which permanently increase your hp by 10% each for a cap of 200% hp.
You can use Sams sword and tear through all the enemies and bosses that pissed you off, and finally the 2 dlc stages, both are about an hour long. You get to play as blade wolf and Sam

This game does have an easy mode in which it parries automatically if you hit the attack button when you're being attacked, but I don't remember if you could change difficulties or if you were locked in. I definitely would recommend anybody playing this for the first time to play on easy mode.

When the rules of nature bit kicked off I was there for it.
there's only few games that exhausting all adrenaline in my body and this is one of them. the action, the music, the thrill, is so damn good. I guess it's normal if u reacted this way tho lol
But I do wish u will play another Metal Gear series. They are less action-pack than this but very good, especially mgs 3. I think u might love that one with the emotional roller coaster that game gives

Now you have to play it on hard and hardcore, with experience, new moves, new weapons and cheat items - will be epic (and annoying sometimes), but it will be worth the experience

I just went to your vods’ channel to see your reaction on Armstrong’s speech. It’s so iconic, and somehow the Metal gear series have a weird habbit of predicting the future in so many ways. Metal Gear Solid 2, which is Raiden’s debut, is probably peak in this matter, since it predicted the whole information control and fake media we are facing nowadays. But that game released in 2001 😂
On a side note, MGR is so good, specially the bosses’ themes. RULES OF NATURE.
