Downgrade to buster. That will solve it. You can make it work by turning off the GUI with CTL+ALT+F2 and start steamlink from there, but it's not worth it

I got this working, but I can't figure out how to safely shut down my pi. I am able to stop remote play from my rpi/controller setup, but then I press B on the controller to go back to the desktop and it just shows me a black screen instead of my desktop so I end up having to unplug my rpi to shutdown. What's the safe way to shut down here?

For any one reading this - wirles can work really good up to 1080p with NO dropped frames
but you NEED GOOD ROUTERS, if your infrastructure sucks, your wi fi experience will suck.
Im able to stream over 5ghz wi fi with 30-40 ms stable latency from PC to android Phone and cast that on smart TV from phone (samsung Dex)

you can do much stuff with Steamlink.. dolphin emulator... thats only for x86/x64 processor can work on your pc.. and the raspi 4 can run it through steamlink whats an arm processor. insane but its hard to get a raspi 4 8gigs currently xD

Had the same problem. I instaled the Legacy version of pi os and it workt with that one.
but i didnt update the os or the packeges like he did in the video.
Will test out if ubdating those will brik steam link or not on a later date

You need to make sure you use a 32 bit version of raspbian, 64 bit currently does not have support for the xbox driver and also make sure you use the legacy version of raspbian, the one that uses buster, instead of bullseye. If you're using raspberry pi imager, click "select OS", then click "Raspberry PI OS (other)" and scroll down to the bottom and make sure you select "Raspberry PI OS (Legacy)" for me it was the second to last option, might be different for you.

I've tried this now for a few hours but I always end up with "You have dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d in /boot/config.txt, which will cause a black screen when starting streaming - aborting. Try commenting out that line and rebooting." or i get a Warning it couldn't download archive than it still runns a script to intsall libgcc1:armhf (always even if i already installed it) and after that it tells me: "shell: error while loading shared libraries: libbrcmGLESv2.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" can someone please help me i didn't find any answer on the web so far.

Thank god someone else is having this issue, I was trying to set this up yesterday and had the exact same issues and errors as you. I haven't found anything that works as a fix despite trying everything I've found online. What version of the Pi are you using? I'm using the 4. Please let me know if you manage to find a fix.

Managed to fix this issue, I think it’s a problem with the latest Raspberry Pi OS, I swapped to the latest version of Retro Pi and managed to get it working fine

Hi, Love your video's man.
I do have one little request. If you want to do it's up to you.
Can you sort your video's on the Synology Tutorials Playlist😅?
I know you can't fully place the video's in order...but the order is quite random. I would love to see everything thing in somewhat of a correct order. So at no.1 in the Playlist setting up the NAS for the 1st time and after that best recommendations what to do after.
Reason being...I just purchased a Synology NAS and your video's are quite helpful and there's a lot of them. And maybe not following them in a correct order might mess something up for something else.

For example if a feature stopped working in Synology which you made a video of, and if it's in the Playlist...it's not worth it to watch it and follow it because the "feature" stopped working.

Just to clarify, you don't need to remove the video's, just remove them from the Playlist so that it's always up to date for the current Synology OS and also what works with the current Synology OS.

@@SpaceRexWill I have tried it and the experience is pretty horrible. The WiFi connection has too much latency and too little bandwidth to offer an enjoyable experience. I personally advise getting a rpi 4 at least as the rpi3 has the same wifi over usb bottleneck as the rpi zero.

At this price-point you could also start looking into KVM HDMI over ethernet extenders such as the 4KIP100-KVM (between 120-160$ during sales) from AVacess as you'll have a cable connection either way. Latency should be better as well as picture quality (and 1080p at 120hz!) and you can passthrough USB to avoid driver hassles if you want Steam Input to "just work". Not as fun as setting up a raspberry but hey!

I have a pi4 4gb fresh installed image from 2022-04-04 and did the same steps as in this tutorial. Unfortunately there is a warning and it is not working to run steam.

@@comicjam1334 Hey, I tried several things and workarounds. But the only thing that worked is that you have to install an old version of raspian buster.
But now I have problems with my controllers... They cease working in games for around 3 seconds and then work again for a minute and so on. But maybe you won't have the problem...
