Music sometimes es strange. Philippe Cuper plays better than Maurice Gabai (with much less mistakes), but I can't explain whay I prefer Maurice. Great anyway !!
what I don't understand is why people always focus on mistakes made by performers. As a former professional orchestral musician I find this incredibly "out of focus".
I don't know about you, but I find mistakes to be pretty distracting towards the overall performance. I don't mind it so much in Gabai's performance because, despite said mistakes, the musicality that he brings to the piece is phenomenal. But, if there weren't said compensation, I'd be pretty annoyed and it'd bring the performance of the piece incredibly "out of focus".
Having both performed this and heard it performed by some fantastic artists I can tell you a couple of missed notes equals a great technical performance; especially considering this beast is in the key of B major!
0:00 - 1 Allegro
7:15 - 2 Scherzando
12:53 - 3 Andantino
17:30 - 4 Allegrissimo
Philippe Cuper is a superb soloist!
What a lovely piece - thanks for posting this.
like it very much

@Brett Janiec Yours negative comments are so unfairly while no honest ... shame on you!

Oh that horrible witch!
Thank goodness he spared us with that horrible cadenza (the one he never wrote) in the fourth movement!
Orchestra too loud.
Brett Janiec 님보다 잘할듯. 걍 들읍시다
Brett Janiec Shut up f**** moron
😩
Phillipe Cuper pretends he's a soloist but not a musician, that means he plays with the clarinet, not the orchestra.
Hear Sherrilyn Brill ❗🥰❗😇❗👍
Good at 3.05 but not to 3.08. Some what dodgy with poor articulation choices that get in the way of a good piece!
He plays better than you man
This is a horrible recording!
Brett Janiec go home practicing, stupid little sh***
Brett Janiec YOUR MOM! LOLL XDDD! WHO WOULDA THUNK?.,!!!?
