You only need to order the parts that need replacing or you can buy the entire rebuild kit. These kits are available for most any grill brand and can save you a lot of money compared to buying a new grill. In this video I go through the process of making an 8 year old grill look like new. It takes a few hours and a few parts that can be ordered through the links above. Disclaimer:

doublewide6 Repairs LLC instead of messin' with the heat diffuser buy some generic grates cut them to fit the little ledge above the burners and put a layer of lava rock.
Napoleon barbecue clean
You have listed the incorrect grill burners cross ts heat shields and regulator.. i ordered them and they do not fit this grill...
i love how resourceful you were instead of just buying the parts
Good job! Last year redid my 40 year old Charmglow grill. Solid cast aluminum. Biggest problem was finding a new control valve that would fit into the post that its mounted on. Found a guy in Pittsburg that had one. Looks great...works great! I love that you like to rebuild things and keep the old stuff working....rare in this "throw away" society we now live in. Keep up the good work and give the little guy a hug for all of us.
Thanks so much. I enjoy restoring things and it many cases it saves me tons of money from buying new. The new stuff doesn't last anyhow.
Nice. I love seeing people fix things instead of just junk them. I"ve got a grill my neighbor gave me. A little work and it does great. I drilled the orifices and hooked up a natural gas line and just feed it from my house.
I like the feed from the house nice set up!
Why buy when you can DIY!
Though I am visually impaired I at least try to fix things before buying new ones. Videos like this usually help. Thank you so much
Nice job. I love how you not only fixed the grill but you fixed the parts for the grill. My burners fell apart just touching them, lol. So I had no choice but to but the replacement kit for 45.00. It came with 5 burners, 5 heat caps and 4 crossover tubes. Not too bad considering I spent 550.00 for it 6 years ago. Thanks for sharing!!
Great video! I found the same one in the garbage. I hooked up a tank to it and the burners worked perfect! Even the electric ignite worked!!! So I took the time and restored it just like you did and you should see it! It is beautiful! Beats the hell out of the grill I had. But I am gonna convert my old one into a charcoal grill because my grandma gave it to me. Once again great video man!!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to film and share this video.
I just completed rebuilding my Char-Broil 4 burner commercial gas grill. I purchased it over 7 years ago and my burners, cross over pipes and flame tamers were rusting out. I called Char-Broil and they found where I registered it, over 7 years ago, and they sent me 4 gas burners free!. I ordered the other parts and installation was easy. My grill is working great. Char-Broil was very nice and professional. I cover my grill after every use, but it does sit outside all year Char-Broil was really great. Thanks, JohnG.
Nice to hea Char broil hooked you up John.
Thank you so much for this, I just two days ago was given one of this exact model grill from a Craigslist ad, it is in a little better shape but still needs TLC to be bette , now I know so much more about this, you are a good man my friend!!
Thanks man take the time to subscribe to my channel much more videos on all subjects there.
I disassembled everything... fairly easy. Used electrolysis on small parts and muriatic acid on big panels. Muriatic acid will leave stains on stainless btw. Either make sure to not get them on stainless steel or sand it off. Now it's like brand new.
These grills are fairly simple and straightforward. Don't be afraid to take it apart to clean and paint. I used 2000' Rustoleum spray paints.
2 years ago bought a 5 burner for 25. Came with a tank. Spent maybe 5 hours jamming to music cleaning and replacing burners and regulator hose. Degreasing ect. Works perfectly and looks brand new. Gonna use it heavily this coming 4th weekend
I have the same grill just got it for FD. Great video, going to make sure mine is maintained
It is a pretty easy job to clean it up. Good luck.
Nice job! I like knowing how to do these things and appreciate fixing up the old instead of buying new [and not as well made]. Ex hubby could do things like this....one of the nice things about being married to a guy who works with his hands - he could do just about anything or build it.
Greatwork doublewide6, its a great talent to be very mechanical oriented and have great detail. After you paints sprayed over the fake stainless parts. It looked almost brand new.
That's good ol American pride & workmanship.
Just replaced a Charbroil with a new one today. Funny to see this show up. The heat tents and two of the four cross over tubes rusted out on mine. I can't weld so I had to shitcan the whole thing. Cool video. Fun to watch.
If you are going to do this much work just, you might as well replace the burners. You can get a kit from $17.99 to $25, or $22 to $40 if you want shields and started rails included.
Wow beautiful. I adopted a Kenmore grill and rehabbed it for my nephew. Happy grilling ...........
The grill repair came out great. I had to replace the tents (Weber calls them Flavorizor Bars) in my grill last year. I don't have access to a brake, so I bought them from 3rd party vendor on Amazon.
I was looking at a smaller 18" & 30" metal brake at Harbor Freight, the prices were cheap enough and the amount of times I would use it should last a while.
Having a small brake is handy. I'm not sure what the cost off-hand, but if you can use it a few times a year and it is not crowding out your workspace it is worth it for sure.
man u saved my life .I didnt know why. I had a low flame this whole time . thanks again life saver 🙌 🙏
Great video. I was about to toss my grill for a $500 new one. After seeing your video found out all I needed was to cleN my igniter and a $38 dollar replacement. Thank you
I have seen other videos from this gentleman. Very impressed.
Amazing! Looks very nice. You are one talented guy. Terrific job!
Thanks Mrs. D!!!!
Great DIY video. Inspired me to do my grill. My old 5 burner grill is getting pretty tuff to grill on with holes in the burn tubes.
Yes, you will notice a much more even flame with the new burners in.
Nice. Much smarter than spending a few hundred dollars for a new grill. Thanks.
Thanks that is true the grill is still working fine it is a year later now.
Good job on repairing the grill.
Thanks I'm happy you enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for this video!! How convenient that I happen to have the exact same grill in your video! Mine has the exact same rust locations also - Very informative and I appreciate the Amazon Link!! My husband wants to buy a new grill, but instead I will spend $30!!
Nice work Jessica! Think about becoming a subscriber. Bob
With thanks! This is definitely an astonishing video.
Thank you very much I'm trying to refurbish the exact same grill . excellent video.
With all due respect to our preserving friend here,,,, my discontinued but upscale 9' foot three piece Jenn Air BBQ that I had saved a book on, I got lucky to learn that it had life time warranty on burners, the tamers, and the top grill,,, and they honored it, less shipping... and i'm now makin it pretty !!
Currently going through this process with an old Great Outdoors propane grill nice to see what you could save, I'm trying so hard to save its H-burner because it has the branding cast into it and I can't just punch a replacement into Google since the company is long gone.
THANK you. Also got a totally rusted redundant braai and now considers refurbishment.
I'm tempted to make some extra triangle heat tents out of stainless to go inbetween the flame cover ones and fill them with ceramic briquettes. Should help with heat distribution and retention.
A little tip on your grill grates. Use the clean cycle on your oven to get them back to good again. Wash them, then season them back up. Looks new again
"I called my wife at home to measure up this thing.... and... they're a half inch short. So now I'm fixing that." hahaha. My wife once told a removal company that our driveway was 500 metres long. It was actually 20.
Well, if you stopped telling her this (hold fingers slightly apart) was 8 inches, maybe she wouldn't have that problem!!!!!
Another problem area on these grills is the Grease Drip Pan will rust out. The Charbroil has a riveted in pan so it is not easily replaced. I just replaced mine by cutting out the pan and replacing it with a new stainless pan. The new pan has adjustable width to fit different width grills. There's a link for the 'tough to fix rusty bottom' in your description which doesn't have drain wholes for the grease to drip through. If you had that I guess you wouldn't need a drip pan.
Exact video I was looking for thank you 😊
looks good man, good job!!
Thank you.
great video. - thank you very much for making this.
I literally just garbage picked this exact grill yesterday! Gonna start to restore it tonight.
This is such a good video. Thanks so much!!
Also, the black spray paint was a really nice touch. I just cleaned out our BBQ (same as this one), so it's nice to know about the replacement parts!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!
Nice job! What type of metal (stainless, etc) would you suggest to rebuild the little shelves that hold the far end of the burners? I've had several grills where these disintegrate over time. My current grill has them spot welded to the rear of the grill, so I was thinking of drilling holes and screwing new angle brackets in. Thanks!
Great video. Very informative.
Nice work!
Thanks.
Great job!
Great job at restoring the grill. Do you recommend using 2"x2" .125" thick extrusion steel angle instead of sheet metal? They are sold at home depot
That may work if it is wide enough I think my steel plates were wider.
The tent things are called flame tamers!
I have a Jennair gas grill and the "tents"are made of a thick stainless steel, no rust problem however my cast iron burners have rusted out so I am waiting to get some burners in but I thought about building some "boxes" that could fit on top of the cast iron bases and drilling holes in the stainless and then welding them to the iron.
If you can do it yourself why not?
This brand cooks the best I have ever seen. Two years after purchase the thing rusted completely apart even though it was always stored in the garage and never left out in the rain. These company CEO’s should be shot for building junk that fills up the landfills.
hobbiehobb yup they claim stainless steel, but it’s the cheapest shit stainless, check I bet a magnet sticks to their stainless steel.
Looks good!
Good job and thanks. Ps I had my wife mauser she was 3/4" off all the time.
Good job!
Taking notes. Don't ask my wife to measure anything :) 😁 Great video thanks
I really enjoy your videos. They are entertaining and informative. Perhaps you have already answered this but where does your UA-cam name 'Doublewide6' come from?
It is a long story!
I have rusted front and back firebox panels on an old outdoor gourmet grill, I think from Sam's years ago. The other grill parts I can buy online but no one sells those two Firebox panels. I'm wondering if they can be repaired can they be repaired. Thanks for the video.
The correct size replacement parts are available on Amazon. Lowe's sells universal parts that don't work well. Burners, 'tent' grease deflectors all available, in stainless steel. The tent things last much longer if wiped off regularly to prevent grease buildup and burning off. Just need your model # found on the back of grill. The porcelain coated grates clean up real nice just by soaking in dish detergent standing upright in a bucket.
Great video!!!!!!!!!
I own a Weber gas grill with 2 burners. The crossover burner is rusted out and so are the cooking grates, flavorizer bars and the drip tray holder. I have the new flavorizer bars and 2 grates which cost $30.00 each. Do you think I should replace the burners, tray under the grill and the grease tray holder? The tray below the grill is disintegrated.
Very cool indeed! What type of Welder was this you were using?
Great video, thank you!
You earned yourself a new subscriber the second I saw the torch come out.
Crossover tubes don't distribute gas, that is what the controls at the front are for. They allow the flame to go from the burner with the electric sparker to the other burners.
Nice job.
Thanks! Question, how do you reinstall the pipes back in? What is holding it up, I saw the pin , does that connect to something ?
My man your unit is even rattier than mine. I salute you. Thanks for the vid
Good video! the wife measurement part makes me laugh. LOL
If you had to replace the firebox , could you just lay a piece of 304 stainless on top of rusted out old firebox panel or what would you suggest? I don’t weld
charbroil warrants those tube burners for life , they sent me a free set. the problem with those grills is the drip covers rot fast so you have to buy new ones and the bracket they hook on the back of grill rots out, which if your not handy you grill is junk.
I know you 'repaired' all you parts but unfortunately that's not always the case. Your work might give you the stainless for free too. You can't really say this was a $50 dollar build/repair. Your video inspired me to check my 4 year old Char Broil and even at that, I had just ordered some new Grill Grates so I needed to get them installed anyways. I pulled the 'tents' and found more rust and rot so I started my list of parts. $192 and change later plus the cost of the Grill Grates, almost $400.......That's why most people throw away crap like this because another $400, or less and you have a whole new grill. I fixed mine and will use it for another 5-6 years but most people just don't have the time, knowledge, or energy to put into it. Definitely a 'throw away' world, pretty soon grills will be like microwaves and TV's, and you won't be able to understand the internals and be just that, throw away......
Dude, you're cool. Nice job.
great work. BTW , its not 'fake stainless' steel. its just different grades. 304 being one of the better then 404 etc...
Excellent job-one less grill in the landfill. What gauge steel did you use for the tents?
Thanks It is 18 gauge steel. Make sure not to use Galvanized.
Wow! Beyond my skills but still educational. Thanks
Haha -- t-shirt bra ad, guess I'm one of the few who can relate to that ad.
Great Video.
What type of metal and gauge did you use for the tents?
Mine are rotted out and I know you can't use galvanized steel because of fumes.
The metal is 18 gauge steel. Your right not galvanized.
doublewide6 Repairs LLC where can you buy non galvanized sheet metal?
The cross gas tube is actually to reignite a burner if blown out accidentally by wind.
Well done
I have this same grill... I just found grates on Amazon for $40
Did you just burn the paint off the sheet metal, then wire brush the ‘crud’ off?
what editing program did you use to make this video?
I think Xover tubes allow ignition to occur from a single spark unit on one tube.
That makes sense. I got the new ones installed it only took 2 days from Amazon.
Good job
Thanks. I'm looking forward to cooking on it. We do a lot of vegetable when the garden is producing.
Any ideas how to attach the tubes? Mine are detached from the grill . The part that attach to the grill has rusted out .
Buy crap 50 BBQ off craigslist spend a day fixing it up sell for 200
I would use "Never-dull" fro Wal-Mart to shine the grill.
Crossovers are for spreading the flame from the single ignition point to all burners.
How can I patch my burners without a torch? I have some small rust holes.
Very Good!..
To prevent any future rust just trying spraying zinc coating primer have agood heat resistant and prevents corrosion
As someone without a pressure washer/minimum tools, would brake cleaner work for rust spots? How best would I clean the grate? Just scrub the crap out of it? I can't go buy 100 dollar tools lol. How do I do this best buy hand?
Just buy a wire brush from an auto parts store.
i can appreciate ur brazing skills, but, those burners would cost what bout 15 or so apiece? i bought a infinity broil king burner for 35.00.next year the burners will be toast. But i admire ur skills,i had to machine a couple pieces for the broil king.i just happen to be a machinist, wanna be welder, lol
A buddy of mine gave me this grill a year ago and I finally went to look at it and the inside is completely rusted out. It’s going to end up on the curb for trash night.
Sixwheel Carlisle the rusted grease pan can be replaced
Jmatt That thing was alllll rotted out
Thanks for that
thanks man
Thanks
Awesome
Chipmunks singing in the background nice
Buy a Signet . All molded aluminum bottom .
how do you replace the thermometers in the front?
Can anybody help me with the method of repacing the burners and heatshields on a stok 4burner gas barbeque pleade
Time and a little patience gets you a working grill. I like the black paint, too. I makes it look "richer" if that makes any sense.
Thanks, I take more pride in anything that I had a hand in fixing. Now I'm excited to use my grill again.
I would of replaced all the tubes and cross overs.
Next time I do the grill I will. It has been a year and so far no issues.
@dryfuss1955 Any ideas how to attach the tubes? Mine are detached from the grill . The part that attach to the grill has rusted out .
@@anafonseca8748 I had to remove and rebuild the rusted out areas. You can purchase replacement metal and angle iron at Lowes or home depot. I used a grinder and cut off tool to remove the old metal and to cut the the new metal.
@@anafonseca8748 I had to rebuild the back wall of the unit lucky there was enough to rebuild. I used stock metal to rebuild the back wall and I used angle iron to secure the venturi tubes and flavor shields.
Good move, brazing rod is terrible for patching holes. You'll end up with a massive blowout.
