- I was robbed so I decided to track down and find the person who stole from me and confront them. I found their phone number and called them up to expose them and asked why they STOLE my song the Catfish anthem and to track down my stole song and ask why they uploaded it to their own Spotify. They had no idea that I knew about this and they were shocked when they found out...

This is some serious George Mason inception. My brain can't comprehend.
Now, I’m not sure how this happens but if there are multiple artists with the same name, sometimes they get mixed up on the same profile. It’s not usually down to the artist or the record label. It looks like all three George Mason’s were put on the same page.
The confusing part for me is the profile picture. It might be worth contacting Spotify as it is likely a viewer who uploaded it, without your permission.
That's straight to the point! This happened to me a couple of times as well.. Some artists with the same name had their songs accidentally show up on my profile 😅

I'm pretty sure it's not the record label that did this. When you release music on Spotify ect. through an aggregator you can choose which "George Mason" account the song should be uploaded to or if Spotify should make you a new account for you. But it is strange that they managed to change the profile picture, cause that means they have access to the account, so I actually don't know how they did that haha. But anyway you can also see it when you press on the song that it was release under the label "2020 George Mason" and not Traviana Records. And also if you look at the credits it says that Jonathan Plays wrote the song, so I would assume that's the person that's getting your royalty money. Hope this might be slighty helpful 😅
Yeah. It's really not hard to upload something to Spotify so Jonathan Plays most likely just did that in 2020 and didn't think more about that. The profile picture is actually the cover from the song. If you don't upload your own banner, the picture from the first song you upload will be the channel banner. So the record label most likely didn't upload their own one so that's the reason why it's the banner from the song. So George Mason (the Artist) and the record label doesn't have anything with it to do.

@@dharcatt2615 I mean they ask the aggregator if you have the copyright of the song, if they say yes they post it. The song isn't released by George Mason the artists label. They don't have anything with this to do. Even tho both songs are under the same artist, they don't have anything to do with one another.
@@dharcatt2615 I mean (1) the person uploading the song to the aggregator lied and said that he owned the copyright. (2) Yeah, that's true. (3) Is also true. (4) as the person creating the song is the copyright owner, it's George. Uploading it to Spotify doesn't mean that you have the copyright for the craft. It's the same as if someone is reposting a video on UA-cam, just because you post it yourself doesn't mean that you have the copyright. Obviously it's takes more time to prove that you own the copyright when the song is already on Spotify, but in the end it's an infragement and something you could report to Spotify. (5) I think you're exaggerating it a tiny bit. Don't think George's future lies in this.
@@dharcatt2615 Yeah, but I don't think the person uploading the song would take this to court. I mean it's most likely some kid which watches George and now is more scared that he will be sued (if he watches this video) than ready to sue someone else. I mean George makes entertainment videos on UA-cam and wanted to publish a song about catfishing, I don't think he saw this as a way to somehow get into the music industry.
I’ve had something a tiny bit like this. In my school there’s a girl with the same first and last name. But this almost lead to my mum in debt to the school this made me really worried but luckily it got sorted out. I hope this gets sorted out too.

It's Spotify that is doing this thing (getting wrong songs at wrong artists profiles), not labels. This has happened a lot with one of the greatest Finnish songwriter Hector and also American band called Sparks.
You should make this into a main channel video once this saga is over ❤

I would strongly recommend contacting Spotify directly. It is far more likely that Spotify will respond/get back to you then the record label. The record label obviously doesn't care about you or your intellectual property since they have already stolen your intellectual property anyways & ripped you off by doing so.
The thing that I can't understand is how the record label is claiming that he is you, when he clearly looks 20 years older than you, judging by the photographs of him on his profiles (other than the main profile photo of you that the record label ripped off, OF COURSE).
I'm a 48-year old who never grew-up and don't plan to. I love this channel...lol

It's very possible that someone made a Distrokid account and uploaded your song as a joke and it got put under George Mason's music profile. It was most likely not him. I'm sure if you contact spotify they'll be able to fix it

Someone probably tried to upload your song through some distributor (u need one to upload songs to streaming services) and it was uploaded to wrong Spotify profile because apparently artist George Mason already existed on Spotify. It it’s pretty common issue when uploading a song with artist name that already exists
