Ukraine HIMARS blow up one of Russia's largest artillery cannons with GMLRS rocket

- This is the moment one of Russia’s largest artillery cannons was blown up by HIMARS. Drone footage captures the 2S7 Pion cannon being hit by a GMLRS rocket. The missile is packed with tungsten ball-bearings, designed to shred nearby targets. Which can be seen on the video, as a circular cloud of dust that appears near the gun. But the ball-bearings aren’t needed here, as the rocket hits with extreme precision. The Pion explodes into a fireball before the ammunition begins burning. It is unclear exactly where or when the strike took place. But Ukraine has made targeting Russian artillery a priority of its counter-attack. When the war began, Russia had a two artillery guns for every one Ukrainian. During the Donbas campaign last summer, that increased to 10 to one. But now they have roughly the same number, thanks to precision Ukrainian strikes.

The ball bearings weren't needed is incorrect, the area effect of the weapon actually would have killed the crew who were sheltering in the wooded area bottom left of the gun. The external diameter of the strike neatly covers the whole area the crew were taking cover in...
Including any ammunition staged nearby. Too many don't grasp the concept of "Area of Effect."

The crew ran away and left the gun out in the open, they also leave tanks in the open with hatches open, it is almost as if they want the equipment destroyed to end the war quicker so that they make it home alive.

Ball bearings might've taken out the crew if they didn't get cover in time. Technicians are hard to come by, especially in Russia. 😅Besides that, the ball bearings are the weapon that the missile is carrying. That's what it's there for!

They might use a specific type of surveillance drone. Drone with no bombs= sending your coordinates.
I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion but no. No artillery men in this war have connections to a radar to tell them if a drone is watching them as air defence and artillery are 2 massively different roles. If they knew the drone would be shot down and this 2S7 pion wouldn't be sitting in the open. Also it looked like the ran but the video is fast forwarded. They are most likely moving shells. The UAV filming is a ukrspecs shark and it has a very sleek design and a quiet motor and it's responsible for the destruction of a lot of russian Sam systems because it's so hard to pick up on radar. About 2 weeks ago one shark managed to film how it corrected himars fire onto 5 buk launcher vehicles.
No not really. The UAV filming is a ukrspecs shark. You don't need a UAV to work out the co-ordinates because all you need is a map with co-ordinates. The UAV is just there to find the targets. The ukrspecs shark and himars working in duo are responsible for destroying some of the highest priority targets in ukraine. Its sleek, quiet and very difficult to jam and it has integrated AI features that can detect targets and can track moving targets. It can even laze a target for something like the 155 copperhead which is a Lazer guided artillery round.

The crew is leaving the gun after successfully performed task of destruction of ukrainian target by several shots. This gun can not leave the location after shots quickly but could be detected with anti-artillery system definitely. This is standard procedure in all armies.

Funny way of running. They are walking away at normal speed, the video is running faster than normal. To some kind of hideout/cover, they used already before.
It looks rather as this 2S7 Pion was ready to fire a round. It's normal that the crew walks away a bit before those heavy guns fire. And if you fear that your gun is no more in the best condition - in theory, those barrels should be replaced after 450 rounds - or that firing may draw counter artillery fire you better walk a few meters more.

Sad for the gun. The Russian Air Force destroyed the largest headquarters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces; Zelensky recently visited it.
The headquarters of the separate tactical group "Soledar" in the village of Aleksandro-Kalinovo was destroyed. The command post was located deep in the rear, was well protected and camouflaged. Space reconnaissance helped identify it, and it was destroyed by a one and a half ton GMLRS FAB-1500 aircraft bomb.

Ukraine is pro-Western, it is supposed to be more developed. But thanks to its post-Soviet policy it can hardly produce anything now, including weapons, unlike the supposedly backward Russia.

You can see the effect even in Eastern Germany. Still lagging behind western counterpart.
And Ukraine never made name for extreme development.
It did, however, produce a LOT of food, which humans still need - developed or not...
@@tappajaav I specifically compared Ukraine to Russia. I didn't compare it to France or Britain. Ukraine did develop significantly slower than Russia since independence. Belarus developed much faster, for example, despite having much less resources.
Ukraine is a major grain supplier. They are not known for manufacturing weapons.
