The video I have been waiting for since I subscribed after seeing your Richard Hatch video the day that one came out.. Brian Heidik is utterly fascinating. Completely unique player.
I'd watch the season live when I was like eight years old and didn't really remember any of it, including Brian, but I still had nightmares of that final immunity challenge. That way of being positioned with no way to move haunts me
I would consider Brian as Neutral Evil. "The neutral evil is an unscrupulous, self-serving character who is only out for himself. Power, glory, wealth, position, and anything that will make his life more comfortable is his goal. It matters not who gets caught in the middle, as long as he comes out smelling like a rose." Brian never did anything chaotic; he was just playing to win and didn't care about how many relationships were broken as long as the goal was achieved.
Thank you for making this video. I remember Brian played a very dominant game, so it was good to see this video. It would be good to see one of these videos about Chris Daugherty. He won his season from quite a difficult position in the game.
I remember watching these early seasons as they premiered! I was obsessed from the first episode of season one. My love wore off over time... Just got bored and didn't like all the changes and stuff but I can still appreciate the amazing show that is Survivor! I love that it's still going today ☺️ And I Love this channel so much ❤️ Bringing back good memories 😁

Dude, your videos bring back some great memories. I think I've watched the first 8 seasons religiously, then kinda took a break, then Heroes vs Villains came out and I caught up on the remaining seasons, then continued watching up until the first Blood vs Water, then full stop. With Winners at War I think I might jump back in on this show. Over the years we've seen some amazing characters, plots, twists, strategies, and Brian was one of the most stone cold players ever. I always tried to imagine how he'd do against some more dangerous players, both as a first time player and especially as a returning former winner. How would he fare against an opponent like Parvati or while being in a tribe minority facing elimination? Too bad we won't get to see that. Your content is amazing and I hope you keep up the great work. I can't wait to see your take on the following four seasons, especially the stories of "Dr. Cesternino and Matthew von Frankenstein" and the revenge tale of Chris Daugherty.
Brian was definitely ahead of his time. Goat Strategy was money. His game play proves that an unconscious level human beings respect power and work ethic.
I very much so enjoy ur story videos like this. Honestly it's the best survivor work on UA-cam, please keep up the good work I'll always be here to watch :-)
When he did the thing where he’s counting off his alliance members and ends up with a middle finger, it cemented him as my favorite player of the season. Still one of my top 5 all time favorite players honestly. He’s very charismatic but also the literal devil himself.
R/askreddit Subject: what careers or jobs most likely attract psychopaths The top comment talks about Brian and the thread links straight to your video.
As much as I dislike him as a person, he 100% deserved that win. He by far outplayed everyone on that season and it’s no shock why he won. Even with most of the jury knowing he had a lot of money, he still won
Your videos are really well done and often the highlight of my Monday afternoons. I can't wait to see all the videos you'll do on the rest of the seasons (whenever you get to them, of course), and see how you classify/analyze some of more interesting characters/winners (especially underrated ones such as Natalie White) as well as the evolution of the game itself. Thanks for the videos, and I can't wait for more!
@@roryodonnell4119 The reason she doesn't get many confessionals is because: A. Russell was the most interesting Character of the show, so he took up alot of the air time, and B. Natalie's winner's story can just as easily be told in Hantz losers story.
@@narwhal3051 They showed Russell the most because he did everything. I believe if someone wins the game the edit made them look as good as possible. If they don't look good it's because they didn't do much.
@@theMVPnamedERIC There is such a thing as doing too much. To list a few examples: 1. He burned Jaison unnecessarily. Jaison was one of only a few people on that merge tribe he had a chance of beating, a fact that is only compounded by... 2. He put Shambo on the jury, the ultimate goat of that season. Now not only can he not sit next to her, the jury has to hear her lecturing them about Russell's game. 3. He made a promise to Brett that he had absolutely no reason to make. It actually hurt Russell's game to make that promise, because he knows he's not going to honor it, so all he's doing is kicking Brett in the dick out the door. Russell got that screen time because he was the most entertaining player on the show. However, he made far too many boneheaded decisions to ever win the game. Compare that to Natalie, who saw that all the women who opposed Russell drop like flies, realised "you know what, my best play is to keep my head down and let the bull loose on the China shop." Then, when the tribes merged, she was able to bond with the other tribe in a way the rest of the Foa Foa 4 couldn't and launch a successful "at least I'm not that asshole" campaign. Granted, it wasn't the most flashy way to play, which is why she didn't get many confessional's, but you can't deny that it was effective.
@@narwhal3051 the people editing the show doesn't have something against Natalie. She didn't do much so that's the edit she got. I understand a win is a win. I'm just saying she didn't do anything. I don't understand people thinking that the people editing the show tried to make the person who won the game look bad. If Natalie Amber Sandra Michele was doing more than Russell Parvati Rob and Aubry the edit would have showed it.
@@OnceUponAnIsland yep i agree. But im talking about his game play. He dominated the game. Anybody who dominates the their season can not been seen as an avarage winner. Other seasons of the show, players who played an avarage game get to the final and win
@@OnceUponAnIslandTbf he’s the only legit sociopath/awful person to win the game in 45 seasons. Someone so awful he was too villainous for the villains tribe. Him winning despite that (where all others failed) is why he’s great/stands out. Still an appalling human being of course but I guess I’d have voted for him over racist Clay too if forced (like Ted). That Ted/Ghandia situation ages worse by the second. Both the show and the tribe handled that about as textbook poorly as you could imagine.
I am finally actually watching the show for the first time ever on Paramount+ after a couple of years of watching Survivor UA-cam. I started at season one and I got to season five expecting to be impressed by how cutthroat Brian was. But honestly imo he didn’t really do anything that a modern survivor wouldn’t do. It just seems like he was ahead of his time.
Which is why he was great. I never watched modern survivor because I never liked the idol stuff and so on. It messes up people's strategy and it puts less emphasis on strategy but more emphasis on luck & drama. So I dont know much anything beyong season 15 but to me from all the contestants I have watched he was the best. Him & Tom Westman were the best players. The ones like Rob Mariano or Sandra Diaz. They were great strategists but they were also brutal & hated by the jury. Brian was so good with the charms that all his previous allies voted for him. Brian on the other hand, even though some people were dissatisfied with him, nobody hated him. His Ice Man persona is what makes his game so good.
It’s a shame Brian got casted on one of the worst seasons of the show whom most fans forget about, because he really was one of the smartest players in the whole franchise.
@@tmm4195 I mean for crying out loud he lost 3 jury votes to clay jordan of all people. The guy who popped a boner for Brian's wife on national television. This season really can't get any worse
Brian Heidik’s run-in with the law in 2006 might have put him on the ‘Survivor’ blacklist Heidik competed in season 5 on Survivor: Thailand and won, although he is often regarded as one of the least likable winners ever. His nickname is Mr. Freeze, and he treated the game like a business trip. Following his win, Heidik was arrested in 2006 due to animal cruelty charges after allegedly shooting a puppy with a bow and arrow. His ex-wife also told reporters that he never adapted to real life after being on the show. However, Heidik is now remarried and has four children that keep him very busy.

ted and Hellan both say they regret voting for brain at the reunion show because he was such an awful person after they watched the show live on tv and saw all of brain conference
He definitely blew that car challenge on purpose. Used car salesman fails to spell "road" correctly? No way, plus he loudly blurts out the correct answer knowing that Ted was right behind him. The car curse wasn't a thing yet but after his home video, winning that car would have significantly damaged his chances of winning
In hindsight, watching this video made me think the fake merge would’ve been more successful if it ran for another episode. Either goes to 4-4 or 5-3 and I think both would’ve been better than the 5-4 merge we got
We got a 5-3 merge. They faked it in episode 7 (normal episode for the merge) and then did the real merge in episode 9. Whereas with no fake merge, it would of been 5-5.
I heard that Brian supposedly knew that he always had four votes locked since he built relationships with them and knew they would literally never vote for Clay which is why he never made an effort with the other 3 jury members who were part of shook jai. If that's rlly the case, then I don't knock him for what happened with FTC and Clay getting 3 votes.
If that's true, it further harms my view of his already lacking social game. 4 people you have known for like a month bring a LOT of variables that one can't simply rely on 100%. The fact Clay actually stood a chance against Brian is straight up embarrassing and to know he banked on 4 people not being more complex than he imagined honestly makes me chuckle. Thailand rlly was a bizarre season
So I just finished watching HvV, and I had an idea for some future videos. What if you made videos for certain characters that have multiple season arcs, like Jerri, Colby, and Tyson. Your channel centers around the story of these characters, and that is was gave me this idea. I know that you are currently going through the seasons chronologically, and I love it, but thought this might be a really interesting video topic down the line. Also great video, by far one of my favorites so far!
I really love your content and I just wish you had more views and subscribers. Please keep at it! It really only takes one video or collab for a channel to take off, and I could totally see that happening. Just know you have all our support.
From my point of view, Brian misspelled road-trip on purpose while yelling out the answer to Ted because he felt winning the car would lessen his chances of winning the million. Also, when Ted took Helen with him on reward after winning the car while disregarding Brian giving him the answer, this helped give Brian the incentive to vote Ted out next. This, in my eyes, is a brilliantly ingenious move.
Once Upon An Island yeah, that is true. Ted really was too likable to take to the end. I just like to believe that the moment with the car really helped in furthering Brian’s agenda in getting Ted out. The way the episode was edited really gives you that confidence that that’s how it really went down.
@@johnfeather6476 I considered that he may have misspelled on purpose, but I really don't think he did. If he did do it just to put a target on Ted's back then that would of been a baller move.
Once Upon An Island Brian actually had an interview with Survivor Oz back in 2012 where he claimed that it his misspelling really was deliberate, and that, as a car salesman, he already had several cars at home so to him, cars were like “rocks.” You know, rock collection and all.
One of my favorite winners ever definitely one of the most dominant winners in the show’s history. And in my opinion I would say Brian is somewhat underrated now especially since he has never played again. What he does in this season is absolutely brilliant. The Iceman cometh
He was dominant with the first part of Survivor which entails getting to the end, but his social games had huge glaring flaws that saw him one vote shy of losing to Clay.
@@OnceUponAnIsland Natalie White is a top five winner easily, and Hantz is an unbelievably awful player. You could really use this opportunity to separate yourself from the casual crowd, and delve deep into Natalie's story, episode by episode. She only gets 15 confessionals because production knew Hantz made final three of HvV and wanted to hype him up; but Natalie's story is there if you care to find it. She is a great player and a deserving winner who is more than worthy of a deep look into her nearly flawless game.
@@OnceUponAnIsland yeah, I saw that, but I also think one that just has the winners out of it (Assuming eventually you do more winners). But yeah, I definitely do like that you have the playlist for all of the story videos
35:00, "It's not your turn." That is one of the most unintentionally funny lines. How did none of them think to talk to each other? She almost took it as fate that she deserved to go home, without putting up a fight. It's like, why are you in the game then? And this guy's win was so small, I consider it a loss. I don't believe in a "win is a win." You took somebody who did nothing in the game and barely won 3-2 votes, and that was after he bombed one of the juror's questions, angering the juror.
I guess I don't get all the flack that Brian gets as a winner. He played the exact game that he told the cameras he was going to play from day one. He wasn't here to make friends, he was here to win. And he had all of the tools to do so. While the season overall was fairly boring (mainly due to the cast being blah), Brian's gameplay was very good. Plus, he was the first to use the GOAT strategy, and he doesn't really get the credit he deserves for that. (Except in this video, thank you!) You can't judge his win or his season based on what he may have done afterwards. Is he the most upstanding human being we've seen on the show? No. Is he a deserving winner who played his cards right and dominated the game at all of the right times? Absolutely.
He was awful to the others behind their back and never was honest. Even in the reunion show, Jeff probst got frustrated with him cause he's just full of crap. Couldn't be honest about why he won. Just watched the last 3 episodes.. cringe! Clay was at least honest about being an asshole😅
the conversation between brian and ken about ted would have lost him the game brian didn’t want to bring it up bc supposedly he said how they need to get ted out bc they can have another black winner. not sure if this is true or not but it would make sense why he doesn’t want to bring it up. i think i remember peridiam brining this up in a video
Your comment is old, but I just want to come in and say that I 100% agree, I'm watching through Survivor for the first time and honestly have decided to skip this season because everyone is so unlikeable from that incident. I'm dissapointed that I have seen anyone else bring this up in the comments, really sad and disgusting what happened
She was stirring up problems because she accepted the apology and then chose to keep making an issue out of it. If she wouldnt accept it and kept being annoyed or cold towards the dude everyone would accept it.
I feel like Brian is a really compelling winner in the "competency p*rn" kind of way. Like it's just compelling to watch someone understand and dominate something in every aspect. He's kind of an enigma and that's kind of the draw. I will say his one flaw is that he isn't honest at final tribal. He tries to play a heartless game and then convince the jury that he really is who he tricked them into thinking he was.
Can you imagine the people who voted Brian to win watching the show after the fact. Not only was he a terrible person he didn't need the money. It's insane he won.
How was he a terrible person? You really think TV is reality? Really? He's obviously a Survivor villain but to say he is a terrible person because of TV is... huh? It's called editing stories
Like him or not, he 100% deserved his win. He by far outwitted, outplayed and outlasted anyone else on the season. I’m sure a lot of the cast regrets it now knowing what kind of person he was/is, but he played the game as it was intended and dominated
@@anonymousperson3023 He was arrested for shooting a puppy that "trespassed on his property" with a bow and arrow, didn't even kill it, just shot it. Amazing player in the game of survivor! Clever, cold and competetive. Every single person in his tribe trusted him which is surprising when you look what kind of person he is! He was acting briliant. His game was almost free from mistakes.. the only one was that he didn't get to know with Sook Jai members, but who cares if takes Clay to the final ;) He is undervalued because people don't like him and because of his acts after the show. I'd watch the season live when I was like eight years old and didn't really remember any of it, including Brian, but I still had nightmares of that final immunity challenge. That way of being positioned with no way to move haunts me
I been waiting on this video for a minute.
I would absolute love to see Brian play again
It would be interesting to see how he would handle Sandra
Think Brian & Yul are basically the same person of different alignments. Brian is straight-up Chaotic Evil and Yul is Lawful Good.
Whoa!
I would consider Brian as Neutral Evil.
"The neutral evil is an unscrupulous, self-serving character who is only out for himself. Power, glory, wealth, position, and anything that will make his life more comfortable is his goal. It matters not who gets caught in the middle, as long as he comes out smelling like a rose."
Brian never did anything chaotic; he was just playing to win and didn't care about how many relationships were broken as long as the goal was achieved.
Sliacen You’re 100% right
There’s no way Yul is lawful good
Yul would outwit Heidik, though. Brian is still a cold calculated player

It would be interesting to see him & Sandra together
Brian was definitely ahead of his time. Goat Strategy was money.
His game play proves that an unconscious level human beings respect power and work ethic.
I very much so enjoy ur story videos like this. Honestly it's the best survivor work on UA-cam, please keep up the good work I'll always be here to watch :-)
When he did the thing where he’s counting off his alliance members and ends up with a middle finger, it cemented him as my favorite player of the season. Still one of my top 5 all time favorite players honestly. He’s very charismatic but also the literal devil himself.
He dominated the game. He deserved to win.

@@roryodonnell4119 The reason she doesn't get many confessionals is because:
A. Russell was the most interesting Character of the show, so he took up alot of the air time, and
To list a few examples:

By this video u made Survivor: Thailand look like a good season damn

Even though it's 110 out here.
Also one of the biggest sociopaths to ever play this game tbh
It wasn't a shame for him. Almost any other season he loses for sure
@@tmm4195 I mean for crying out loud he lost 3 jury votes to clay jordan of all people. The guy who popped a boner for Brian's wife on national television. This season really can't get any worse

Brian Heidik’s run-in with the law in 2006 might have put him on the ‘Survivor’ blacklist
Heidik competed in season 5 on Survivor: Thailand and won, although he is often regarded as one of the least likable winners ever.

The best winner of all Survivor
He definitely blew that car challenge on purpose. Used car salesman fails to spell "road" correctly? No way, plus he loudly blurts out the correct answer knowing that Ted was right behind him. The car curse wasn't a thing yet but after his home video, winning that car would have significantly damaged his chances of winning
It is possible.
Brian is one of my fave winners. Unapologetic player. Love it.
My memory of this season is vague but remembering how Brian swept the last few immunities lives rent free in my brain. Dude was like a mastermind
But if one of the 4 decided to flip their votes then yikes
If that's true, it further harms my view of his already lacking social game. 4 people you have known for like a month bring a LOT of variables that one can't simply rely on 100%. The fact Clay actually stood a chance against Brian is straight up embarrassing and to know he banked on 4 people not being more complex than he imagined honestly makes me chuckle. Thailand rlly was a bizarre season
Greatest villian winner in survivor history.
Very interesting I disagree but, that's not a bad thought :>
Thank you Parker! When others share a video or the channel then it makes a difference as well :)
I’ve never seen the show but I saw that reddit comment and oh boy is this interesting
Same
Brian literally sells cars from the dealership across from my house. Almost got one from him before i googled him
From my point of view, Brian misspelled road-trip on purpose while yelling out the answer to Ted because he felt winning the car would lessen his chances of winning the million. Also, when Ted took Helen with him on reward after winning the car while disregarding Brian giving him the answer, this helped give Brian the incentive to vote Ted out next. This, in my eyes, is a brilliantly ingenious move.
A lot of Ted being voted out is that he was the most likeable of the 5 to the jury.
Definitely purposely misspelled it. What car salesman doesn’t know how to spell road trip?
Of course he was a used Cars Salesman. remember when you meet a salesman there's a 50% chance they're exactly like Brian Heidik
36:42 Don't worry one day Wentworth will be in a final 2 scenario
And she will win!
One of the strongest winner if not the.
Once Upon An Island And Wes I agree with you, Brian in terms of social game he isn't a bad social player but obviously not great if that makes sense
While I do not condone the harming of dogs, I'm impressed with Brian's archery skills.
I just skipped the season and watched this video
Brian is my favorite winner first 15 seasons winner
This was worth the video length. Also, I feel like Brian loses every FTC combo Final 9 onwards besides Clay, who still almost won it.
The video length is determined by how much airtime the character has and he had a lot. Wait till we get to Hantz...
I hadn’t noticed how long the video was. I was surprised to see it was over forty minutes.
@@OnceUponAnIsland That means Natalie would only have 5 mins of video length.
@@rataliewhite498 I promise Natalie's video will be between 10 - 20 minutes.
35:00, "It's not your turn." That is one of the most unintentionally funny lines. How did none of them think to talk to each other? She almost took it as fate that she deserved to go home, without putting up a fight. It's like, why are you in the game then? And this guy's win was so small, I consider it a loss.
