This video kicked ass, it was like having a casual 1 on 1 with pro bowlers as they bowl. Awesome video. This one really has an awesome format of bowling and joking around with the guys and asking questions on behalf of us amateurs like tips to start averaging over 200. Thanks for the amazing content.
You should definitely do more Q and A style videos like this. I loved you going around and watching people bowl and asking questions. It was so cool to hear little insights from the best in the world.
Always good to see the release of good bowlers. They ALL seem to have a beautiful and consistent release... And, Packy, you may have a career in announcing! You do a good job, Big Man! :-) OR, at least a game show! A big fan of the channel!
I could totally picture Packy taking over for Rob Stone and Randy Pedersen when he's older and decides to retire from the sport. I've never liked how the PBA goes with a two man commentating crew. Packy could do the broadcasts himself without any issues.
Was a real treat watching PTQ. Wesley was on fire the first 6, the legend Fero Williams was having some fun. Looking forward to watching round two tomorrow.
I’m a 170-180 average bowler, but the last few months I’ve been scraping around towards 190. 2 weeks ago made 2 full years bowling so far… what I learned from this video is that the key to 200 is either picking up spares or 8 baggers. Nice.
Michael Davidson, good guy, I got to BowlerStore to get my stuff and he's always willing to discuss what he believes are the best options for what I'm looking for. Looking forward to seeing him break through and start making shows.
Keven Williams gets a W and says I’m out. Has to be such a relief not to have to rely on PTQ’s. He definitely has the clutch factor when it comes to bowling on TV.
When Packy asked that bearded guy if he was READY to ride the "roller coaster" & the bearded guy just grinned like nobody's business, that said it all lol Know what I mean
I am coming to Colorado Spring all day Thursday to watch. I want to see an all “House” final. You will recognize me by the super cool House T-shirt I am wearing.
Most likely it was because he didn't throw it how he meant to and got lucky enough for it to work out. OR, he started striking way too late for it to help him make the cut. At least that's my take.
Packy........I would love to see you throw "other" balls like the Pink black widow urethane, Radical Double Cross, Brunswick U-Motion, and to really F them up............Radical The Spy! Who says your not versatile!!! Keep on Rollin' Lefty! Make us old "Thaners" proud!!!
Use to have a guy like that in my league for a couple years. His wife made him quit bowling cause of his outbursts and how he acted. Made it less fun for everyone else
Just because the result is a strike doesn't mean you executed the shot you were trying to make. Does it make a bad shot easier to deal with when you strike? Absolutely. Your average bowler thinks any shot that hits the 1-2/1-3 is a good shot, when in reality there's much more that goes into it.
True but if I hit the pocket and they go 10 back even it not my best shot I just say "thank you" and wait for my next turn... that one dude looked miserable no matter what
Owtch! Two below-the-belt punches to headspace for the price of one. Correct or otherwise, still furly cheap shots. It's kinda the same, except in reverse, as getting on a guy in days of yore for sending a blue dot (what today would be considered a spare ball) the entire block. If he's making cuts, good for him. If he could be scoring better with a different ball, good for you. Don't doubt he won't figure it out eventually though, which doesn't necessarily mean jumping from your-a-thane part way through the block. KISS.
Hey Packy, I am Coach for a Jr league in my area and in i tell my two handed bowlers to go watch your videos. It helps them get the mechanics down. Love your videos myself. Also how do I get a free ball?
Hey Packy can you do many of us a huge favor and show us a step by step tutorial on how to release a bowling ball with the "yo yo" type effect. I have no idea what these guys mean when they say "like a yo yo". Been bowling 30+ years and have had a 200+ average in league years ago before walking away from the sport, but I can't seem to release my ball properly. Fingers and thumb almost always come out right about the exact same time. This makes my rev rate way too low and of course causes issues with carry as well as coming in light quite a bit. We hear things like "cup your wrist" and stuff like "do a yo yo motion when you release the ball" but without a step by step slow motion breaking down the action up close it's confusing af.
let's put it this way, a bowler who is on his game will have 7 to 8 shots a game that feels good and correct off his hand. a bowler who is not will have maybe 3 or 4 that feel good but both can score, the guy who gets 3 or 4 knows he is not bowling well and is shaking his head in disgust at himself for not bowling better. That is the time to relax as much as you can and get back to the basics of your game to get your timing and feel back. take care
"The Bowler is better when he is not relying on one ball." Not sure what Chris means by that. The giants of the past used one ball and killed it. They made it work no matter what and that is why they were so great. Maybe Chris means a bowler has the 'potential to score higher' if he switches balls as the conditions dictate rather than try to manipulate a single ball into working?
@@snoochpounder The 'game' is the same. You roll a ball down the lane and try to hit all 10 down. If you miss you get another try. It is only the 'method' to do this that has changed. Back then you had a ball, a condition and a bowler who all on his own, with no coaching or ball reps, did his best with what he had. Today you have tons of balls, coaches and ball reps who during actual competition tell the bowler what to do to score the best and what balls to switch to at any given moment to get the best effect.
@nordattack - No it's not. The game is completely different nowadays. Yes, the lane dimensions are the same, but the surface, balls, pin weights, oil patterns, etc, that they bowl on today is completely different. Giants of the past used one ball... but they weren't killing it and they didn't have to move much either because they were bowling on house shots or modified house shots, not sport shots. Back in the 1960 and 1970's, bowlers never had to move more than a few boards all tournament and averaging 200-210 was killing it. In the 1960's, the highest scoring average for a season on the PBA Tour was 212.96 by Billy Hardwick in 1969. Once again, keep in mind, they were bowling on house shots or modified house shots... but their equipment was inferior (rubber/plastic). In the early days when they used rubber or plastic ball, there was very little difference between one rubber ball and another, same for plastic until the mid-late 1970's when balls like the Sur-D (extremely soft cover that hooked more than other plastic balls) and Yellow Dot Bleeders came along. Bleeders were plastic balls that bled resin (by a manufacturing accident) and cracked easily because of this, but they hooked more than normal plastic balls. Urethane balls came along in 1981 and averages increased, but when resin balls came along in 1991, averages shot up so much that the game became too easy and the PBA had to start putting out tougher shots (eventually sport shots) to make the game tougher and less of a carry contest. If the PBA got to bowl on house shots or modified house shots that they bowled on in the 1960's and 70's, you'd have to average 240-250 to make the show, which is what happened a few weeks ago when the PBA Tours oil machines didn't make it to one of the tournaments on time and they had to use the inferior oil machines that the house had. I'm not trying to argue that they weren't great bowlers in their era, but just pointing out that it was definitely a completely different game and there was no reason to bring 10+ balls to a tournament because there was little to no difference between most of the balls relative to nowadays and everyone was playing the lanes almost exactly the same.
@@Kevin-bt4wb There were no modern funneling house shots in the 60's. The easy house shot is a 'modern invention' to help 'resin" balls perform better. Chris Barnes keeping it real. He's saying what everyone has been thinking for years.
