I’m sorry I had notifications turned off. The beach is actually just west of the crescent beach area and is only accessible from private property. That being said there are lots of similar areas along the straits that are open to the public and have fossils as well. I normally look up geological surveys for different areas and see where older layers of sediment are on the surface. Always be mindful of local rules on collecting and who owns the property. I hope that helps. Happy hunting!
Hi Charles, I’m sorry I didn’t see your comment earlier. This video was shot on a beach that is only accessible from private property but there are lots of great public beaches that also have fossils. You should check out Murdock beach near Joyce which has amazing concretions and agitated fossils. It is a DNR property so you can’t remove anything but it’s is still fun to hunt them on the beach. Another great way to get started is to connect with your local rock hounding group. I hope that helps get you going and happy hunting.
Maybe he doesn’t want to give away his spot …
Hey 👋 Owens dad here! Looks like a great day! We're headed to Murdock today!
That’s a great beach for agates and concretions. Have fun!
