This is an excellent introduction to cleaning fossils. Thank you for taking the time methodically working through the various alternatives for different matrices and fossil types.
We have found several specimens of various species of fossils. The majority were fragile and any sort of pressure crumbled our find. Any idea how to clean these with proper cleaning solutions?
Good video. I'd like to see protecting fossils and the use of chemicals. Please work on the audio production of video with better microphones. Thanks !
You should not clean directly into a sink. Rock and sand particles can clog the sink and drainage system. Do it in a pot, and pour the water out into the garden, not down the sink. Another recommendation is to use a rubber dental scraper instead of a metal one. It is more effective because it is flexible and can reach those windy areas, plus it will not scratch the specimen,
I have a fossilized rattlesnake den it’s literally entirely snakes all seem to be biting into each other is it worth cleaning up and I forgot some of the areas where the snakes have bitten the venom crystallized
I have found fossils at my school Andover elementary in Andover mn. Where should I find someone to help me dig up the rest of the fossils carefully and like a paleontologist
So I have a question, long story short I found a fossilized black seashell stuck in a layer or granite. Now its extremely fragile and I want to clean and protect it and it's way out of my league. Who can I take this to?

Fantastic content, but I’m afraid the technical production is terrible! The sound is low-quality and only in the left channel, and the camera is out of focus the whole time. Some cheap podcasting equipment would do wonders!
