      Thanks we are so happy that Jack managed to do this and he did an excellent job :0) He is very supportive and we love the glass too! The first one after just over one year in the glass is thriving, so have jumped in to do more so given time we will see how they do, as no matter the change there is an adjustment phase. Glad to have your comment Love Carolyn

    Wow! Great job Jack. It's always good to see you in videos. We've enjoyed your creativity in the videos but don't see you often enough. I had tried and managed to drill some glass before but definitely picked up tips that will help next time. And your orchids look great in the glass!

      Thanks so much! It is nice to have a real birdseye view of what is happening in the pot. Plus not having to put water in a saucer during dry times, just leave a little in bottom of vase. I think it takes a full year atleast to find out how they are doing. Real test gets answered next year this time Love Carolyn

    Good to actually see this done. I’ve drilled into plastic but never glass. It’s a whole different process with the need for water. And I must admit I’m more than a little intimidated by glass. I may ask my husband to do it!
    Thanks for showing us how!

    p. S. Vases need to be, at least moderately heavy, or have a heavy base, or made heavy, with something. Pretty. Pretty. Mine love my crystal vases, because the sunlight going through the textured glass gets broken up, and I don't have to worry about magnified sunlight. I have no drill, so, I use my hand, to drain bath water out. Guess one could use an old, formerly used in the kitchen strainer. My Brother is strong and healthy, with great teeth. Ate peanut butter his whole first half of life. (Mom baked bread.) Tempting eh.

      It is Fun and Interesting! Some say they get algae happening , I am not too worried about that, maybe if it stayed too wet. I do like a few holes for air movement and venting. It is nice to see what is happening and a good idea to start with just one and give it a year, as takes some time to realls see results of something new happening to your orchid now the one I did first Nov 1922 just over a year and very well adjusted, but any change dows take time to really see. Now I have jumped in with quite a few so will see this time next year :0) Love Carolyn.

    • @jacolynsorchids1361948friends
      @jacolynsorchids1361948friends  11 місяців тому

      I Water same as all my others, once a week during winter. After watering I drain water out of the holes by tipping the vase on it's side. Some moisture may stay in the bottom holding humidity longer for the roots Love Carolyn Roots do not stay wet and you can watch the bark slowly dry through the glass, holes for drainage also help with air exchange and are important
