  • The Cederberg region of the Western Cape has a raw and rugged beauty. Its clean air, towering mountains and magnificent sunsets make it an ideal holiday destination.
It’s also home to Rooibos - a herbal tisane indigenous to South Africa. About 14 000 tonnes of Rooibos are produced annually - of which half is consumed locally and the balance is exported. It’s powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, make it a sought-after herbal infusion, enjoyed the world-over.
If you’re a tea-lover and happen to find yourself in the Cederberg, you can explore the Rooibos Route, where you’ll learn about the history of Rooibos, how it is farmed and produced, while sampling more than 100 varieties of the tisane.
For the more adventurous, the area offers hiking, bouldering, horse-riding, mountain biking and a host of watersports, including natural rock pools to swim in.
Since it’s part of the Cape Floral Kingdom of South Africa, the Cederberg also has an exceptional botanical diversity. In spring, the usually dry landscape transforms into a carpet of flowers - offering the most breath-taking sights.
The area also boasts many rock art sites dating back thousands of years, which is part of the indigenous Khoi and San culture - still celebrated today.
So, whether you’re a nature lover, adventurer or tea connoisseur, you’re bound to fall in love with the Cederberg.
