He has a grand total of 150 hours of total flight time so he decides to take his entire family of five flying. To work around the inability to rent with such little total time he buys an airplane and drops a bunch of money into it. He is so inexperienced that he doesn’t even realize that he’s an accident cliché waiting to happen.
