I did 230km last saturday. Cool experience! Key is nutrition. Eat a lot of carbs day before and same day a lot of energy foods. Over 150 km I had a few energy drinks, that helped a lot.
On the GT Karakoram , I did 85km in 3 hours , 12 minutes in 1994 MS ride to Flagstaff Hill near the Lagoon Seafood Restaurant , Marine Drive with "NO STOPS AT ALL" . I left Centennial Park at 6:03AM . My power has been calculated at 185 watts .
awsome ride and vid , i started cycling 4 months ago lost 25kg, i just started doing the Bobbin Head loop and Cowan and back to Tarramarra where i live just a touch over 50km, i love cycling so much , not quiet ready for the MS Gong challenge this year but my consider Bobbin Head ride this year , options are 27km, 50km or 85km there abouts so the 50km may suit me.....
i did my first 100 km last week, took me around 7 hrs, my legs were dead. 200 km is really not for beginners, but i'll gradually go upwards, next 120. Thanks for the video, it was fun to watch, enjoyed it !!!
Fantastic, I remember my first 100km. It wasn’t easy but felt great once I did it. Maybe instead of increasing the number of kms, try to work towards increasing the intensity of the ride gradually, so instead of taking 7 hours to ride 100kms, next time it will take you 6, 5, 4 until eventually you can do it in less than 4 hours which is quite a good pace. After that you can start increasing the length of your rides. Keep it up 💪🏻👍🏻
Hahah that was never an option, we were gonna do the 200km loop rain, hail or shine. Yeah, two big ones in the same week 😵💫😅 ended the year with a bang! 🤙🏻
Must have been an incredible experience. I’d love to do something like that one day. And yeah absolutely loved the ocean drive. That was my favourite part. Thank you for sharing your experience in the comments 🙌🏻👍🏻
@@camilogarcia6596 I was riding across the Nullabhor 1200km. A car was broke down in the middle of nowhere. I go cruising by. The driver looks at me like I’m from Mars
Yo really good videos!! I am looking to start doing that as well. Just getting out of my comfort zone as you said in your other video. Un saludo desde alemania
I rode from Syd to Wollongong for the first time a couple of months ago (as a beginner). I was shocked to see some guys riding both ways! Serious effort! Was riding back more difficult than riding there? Even if you did it in reverse?
Awesome mate! Sorry for the late reply. Currently on a holiday Colombia. Riding back is definitely more difficult since you have many kms accumulated in the legs and you have to climb up to the national park or Waterfall. But in this particular ride the wind was incredibly strong going down which made it quite difficult too.
I get what you mean… sometimes it’s a bit scary riding on the highway and on narrow roads. You do get the occasional a$$hole out there but nothing that would stop me riding my bike 😊👍🏻 bald hill was brutal! Specially after 150kms of riding. 🙌🏻
The ride as you described would have been under 200 kilometres as some parts of the ride lose satellite or network coverage , McKell Avenue , for example , and other parts during breaks would have backtracking and wheel calibration errors . Distance to start line and finishing residual distance making Strava unreliable on this type of ride . Also road imperfections , wheel slip factor and bumps , skids etc . Strava is only good for stage , time trial and no - pause criteriums , not for this type of ride , according to Cycling Weekly Magazine . Overlay to video synchronisation is always poor over these distances . A secondary GPS tracker underneath your saddle is a reference comparator required by U.C.I. I worked at the Wollongong road event in September 2022 . I did Strava testing in 2021 and found many flaws in it's operating system .

@@camilogarcia6596 What was the wind direction and speed on that day , to put things into perspective ?
🙌🙌
ayeeee thanks for the air time, keep talking to the camera!
Absolutely beautiful ride! But, I always wonder why I never see any aboriginals during yuour rides through Australia. Are they all dead?
Encanto
I would try this but i dont trust Sydney drivers they are the worst, bald hill must of been brutal to climb.

I did 256 kilometres in 1994 on a GT Karakoram with 26 x 2.10 slicks . I don't think you could match that .
The ride was in November , not December . Narration error at the beginning .
Love it!
