*Although they aren’t in the same class...this is almost $30k. Also it’s based on Fit platform, not Civic...CR-V and Civic share that platform!* ...therefore it deserves this discussion. Tell me below which vehicle you would go with...this HR-V, the Civic Hatch, or CR-V? Or something else 😋. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
I would rather go with the Civic over HRV too. If it’s fit enough luggage space for you and the family, heck yeah. It drives better too, IMO. Good idea with the roof storage. Would you need or want AWD? Too bad the civic doesn’t offer that (yet) but still. The only reason I suggested HRV was storage space but I’d you can manage..I’d definitely go Civic 😁
Prime Autotainment I just traded my 2018 CRV EX for a 2020 HRV Sport. I wouldn’t advise anyone to get any of the Honda vehicles that have the Turbo engine with the oil dilution problem (which mine had). I believe it is also in the Civic. My new HRV Sport has none of these bells and whistles and no turbo engine. So far I am happy with it.
Your reviews are always great. The best line of this video "you can fit people back here if they don't want to sit in their seats". Keep up the good work Nolan.
I owned a Civic and then traded it in for an HR-V. The HR-V was a decent vehicle around town, but it did not inspire confidence on the highway. I thought it was comfortable and well equipped, and the all wheel drive worked well in the winter. After two years I traded it in for a CR-V. The deciding factors were as follows: 1.) The engine had a noise that was not pleasant to me when accelerating. 2.) Acceleration wasn't particularly great. It got the job done, but I was never comfortable merging onto the highway or passing anyone. Driving it was anxiety inducing when there was a lot of traffic. 3.) For whatever reason I felt more vulnerable on the highway than I did in my Civic, even though I sat up higher and had a better view of the road. The CR-V averages 30 mpg in mixed driving, though 75% is highway. This is better than what I averaged in the HR-V on the same drive. The power is much better in the CR-V and I am far more comfortable when facing merging situations and feel safer in it. I am not saying the HR-V was a bad car. It was comfortable, reliable, and easy to drive around town. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who plans to remain in the city most of the time. But for my circumstances, and for my mountainous highway commute, the CR-V is a much better fit for me and I absolutely adore it. I look forward to driving now instead of being anxious all the time.
I just purchased an HR-V and I love it! I had an older CR-V which I never thought of getting rid of unfortunately they stole the catalitic converter the insurance totaled out my old CR-V so I was forced to purchase a newer car. I went to purchase a RAV4 and I ended up loving the HR-V. I love my car, It's perfect for me because I am short.
There are a lot of things to like about this car. Especially the fact that Honda didn't decide to go to a push-button shifter with the refresh, specifically on the top trim. I'm also with you, Nolan on that blind-spot cam on the right hand side. I think at this point, either offer a full blind spot monitoring system; cam or not, or don't offer it at all.
Good point on the push button shifter. I forget about that lol. Yep I think I’d like the cam more if there was still a blind spot indicator lol. The telluride has those blind spot cams but still has regular blind spot monitors which was nice
Great in-depth detailed review as usual. The best part.....Nolan sitting in the truck area 🤣 lol. Not going to happen again? Best feature of the HR- V are the magic seats, as you said I’m surprised not more auto makers copied these seats yet, very practical. I’m currently a 5th Gen 2017 CR-V owner, I’m very happy with it....Wish it had those magic seats thou. Thanks for all your hard work and research on all your vehicle reviews Nolan, it’s much appreciated 😎 Thank you.
Thank you very much! I might venture into the back of a vehicle again lol. The magic seats are definitely great, very useful! I appreciate it as always!
I like the HR-V very much. I wouldn’t get it over the CR-V. If there’s a 1.5 Liter or 2.0 Liter turbo option, then maybe over the Civic....Maybe. I love how Honda never cease to amaze when it comes to interior space. How gross was your little edible surprise 🤣. Great review Nolan as usual 👍. Enjoyed your hidden commentary as well.
Me too and like you said if they upped their game in the engine it would make all of the difference. Love that interior space. Haha man I threw it away...what a surprise though 😂

While your review is great. I would not want to say that the HRV is not as much worth as the other car types you mentioned. I loved practicality and flexibility over anything else. And since the HRV delivers those perks, I think it is just as much worth to begin with. I say buy any of the three regardless of faults for all of them.
1.5T needs to be available on Sport and higher. With CRV HP and hundreds of pounds lighter weight, it would be great to make a Type R version using the excellent CRV powertrain. I live in the Rockies, and this would be gutless above 5000'. Going over 10-12k foot passes it would only be producing 90 HP. I see teenage girls and young women driving these all the time here though.
I have a new civic hatch and u are comparing this , basically a fit, (It is not based on the civic as you state)to a car in a size class above. Two, i hate honda’s infotainment. ....laggy n unintuitive. Also the lane watch camera is lame and obscures anything on the infotainment screen when in use. Third, the crv is SLOW! Today even small cars should be able to hit 60mph, 62kph, in 8 or 8.5 seconds, the top end trim should have the civic’s turbo engine...it will then get even better mpg and hit 60 in 7 or so seconds matching the kona. Big miss on hondas part
I’ve drove the HRV EX when we had one at the dealership. I thought it was a nice little SUV with a useable interior. The audio system still lags behind though and looks aftermarket. The LaneWatch system is gimmicky. Overall, I’d take a Crosstrek over this. You give up a little versatility, but for similar money, you get more hp, better mpg’s, more ground clearance, a rear armrest, premium Harmon Kardon audio system with navigation, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert and rear auto braking.
Absolutely I would too. I like the HR-V overall but don’t see much use for it considering everything else out there...like you said the Crosstrek. Thanks for watching man!
Norm T That is very true for someone looking for a good deal on an SUV they will only drive on the road. But, the Encore does not have the off road credentials of the Crosstrek, nor the same level of safety, reliability, or resale value.

CR-V, because I like the size and also I already own a Civic but be willing to trade in for a CR-V. The HR-V is nice but it's not my kind of style.

Moe Anthony yep that’s my bad! 🤭. Thank you!
P.S. I would probably go for the CRV, mainly because I like SUVs and a higher ride height. What is it with short people and trucks and SUVs, huh? Lol!
When is Honda gonna add bsm and rcta on both the hrv and civic that lane watch got to go.
Good question! Since both were refreshed for this year...maybe not until 2022? Hopefully before the next redesign
i like it. not for 30k though. this vehicle is too small and for the young people, we can’t afford that
I’m with you!
The most 'bang-4-the-buck' trim of the Honda HR-V would be the EX.

Hyundai Tucson / Honda CRV petrol models ,Which 1 is best in terms of Smoothness drivability. I don't mind the performances

how to convert fahrenheit to celsius??
