A weird interaction in this game is at 37:56 when Mogwai puts Tricksy Tentacles on the stack the previously revealed Sharpsight in the opponent's hand highlights for half a sec before passing initiative. That is telling you that the card that the spell will discard from the opponent's hand has that specific cost. Since Sharpsight was glowing, that gives you the info that a 2-cost card will be discarded and the opponent has no 1-cost cards in hand, and all of that without passing initiative. It also works with Hunt the Weak but will only highlight followers, not spells. Glad to see the deck streak growing bigger! Cheers from Brazil, Mog!
I don't think thats how that works... The glow only happens because the game is telling you the obvious (Pointing out the lowest cost card you can see), in the case it worked like that, Tricksy would give you info about the opponent hand without any need to resolve which is kinda.... Yikes.
It will only highlight the lowest cost card that you can see, so as he could see sharp sight and a 4 mana guiding touch then sharp sight is highlighted, but it’s not necessarily the lowest cost card nor the one getting discarded (hence why it wasn’t actually discarded).
At 30:29 why not go for Senna’s champion spell? It kills the 8/2 and gives everything else minus -2/0 so you take no damage and senna survives blocking the 4/2 (now 2/2) turret. Was it to enable rekindler while still leaving up darkness? Edit: Just to clarify, I’m genuinely curious not trying to criticize gameplay. My deck-list is very similar so I want to learn about your decision making as much as possible so I can improve my own.
I love the concept of the darkness deck, but i wanted it to work without senna so that veigar would have different decks with him. Still not able to make it work but hopefully someday
It would require more darkness support. Either another darkness champion or more darkness generators, because outside of leveled up Veigar, Senna is the best Darkness generator.

We can hope that Vex (or another champion, but Vex would fit well with this theme) will offer a variation on this archetype. Anyway, Riot seems quite happy to FINALLY have managed to make a control viable over several metas and I don't think they will let it down like that.

Honestly, the current meta is kinda godly, you can play almost any deck except for maybe super controlly decks cus MiniMorph and some combos that kill you turn 6-9, Swain Ezreal (look up Mogwais deck) still works wonders. Anything Mogwai makes is pretty much midrange, so just netdeck any of his decks since he rarely plays meta deck cus he an edgy boiii 😎
I play a lot of decks with swain, I think the best one is a swain twisted fate deck, works really good against pantheon and galio. I will say Mogwai in the Tight game vs Jayce/Heimerdinger, summoning Ixtali Sentinel will allow you to hit the nexus with two Darknesses at once for instant lethal. Given that you're a very knowledgeable player I'm sure you know about this particular interaction, and I bet you probably wanted to keep your mana open for reactionary plays, but I thought it would be worth mentioning that since his response was entombing Veigar. Even in the case of him getting the entomb before the double darkness, could have cleared and still dealt the damage to Nexus. But anyway, that's a fun tip if you need it, or me just looking stupid. Lol. Either way, Darkness and Veigar is my all-time favorite deck. He is my main champion in League of Legends, and so it was wonderful seeing this deck today! Thank you, you're awesome!!!

hey mogwai, I have recently come up with an interesting deck combo. Thresh/Lee sin with the ionia spell dawn and dusk as win con. The base idea is to level up thresh, use dawn and dusk to get 2 more threshes on board(ephemeral) and then get 3 lee sins on board from those threshes. you can only imagine the damage three lee sins could do if lvld up, however Im not sure how to optimize this deck
Darkness is a fun deck when it works out for you but always a bad time when it doesn’t but there is one card I feel like I don’t see often is hot head and I’d love to see that card used in a deck somehow maybe with Akshan seeing it could maybe help with him surviving against cards that could deal with him
I don't know if anyone has doen this but my friend made an Irelia Miss fortune with scouts. Its annoying cause he added the Bilgewater card that increases 1 drop power plus the recalls he can make blades dances with a 4/1 stat line
Yes, the Irelia/MF deck is as old as Azir/Irelia. It was already not very good when Irelia came out, but since her nerf it's even worse. The deck's flaw is that its wincon is literally to lvl up MF which is just too inconsistent. Even Scout doesn't consider MF's lvl up as its main wincon.
I really hate playing against this deck, it locks people out of playing their own champs cuz it's like having to play around a full-mana Thermobeam constantly even after they nearly tap out, it's close to hush and minimorph how frustrating it is to be locked out of options just because they happened to draw Veigar and Catalyzer while I happened not to draw my removal...
Im lowkey itching for fiddle to join runeterra, as a demacian trap champ or something drain related. Maybe shuffling scarecrows into the opponents deck, or to do with fearsome support? (Raise fearsome's unblockable cap per round/etc) So many fun directions, and having them as a demacian could enable some unique stuff, but they could just as easy fit in the shadowisle umbrella for all things spooky 😳
I think darkness is somewhat popular because it's a very easy deck to pilot in lower ranks - maybe not easy, just more forgiving - where people don't really know how to counter deck's specific plays. I'm kinda new to the game (although I still have to lose a single weekly tournament), but I never felt to stomp opponents as hard as specific matchups with a darkness deck! Pure uncontested mana curve is really hard to punish

I'm also fine with Darkness but I feel like Catalyzer is already so good when he gets to strike just once, he can easily be a 2/2 and it would be fair because he will be succesful in what he is meant to do anyway and usually you trade with him right. So just a neat little nerf I would say
Honestly that would be a good nerf, but it doesn't need it as much, being 2 health is always gonna be traded by even 1 drops, if you want to dish out catalyzer on your attacking turn, yes you would strike once, but the opponent used a 1 drop to trade with you, thus, mystic shot, pokey stickS, any 2 pings will deal with catalyzer and any opponent will do just that to slow down your darkness progress

The deck really doesn't need any nerfs rn. This deck while popular is tier 2 when compared to the meta. It has some unfavorable matchups against them and it's best matchup against them is "meh" at best. A catalyzer nerf would just be overkill rn.
Darkness has never had a problematic winrate. NEVER. The nerf would be totally unfair especially since the Catalyzer is, literally, the most important card in the deck after Veigar. If you touch him, you kill the deck. We must stop asking for nerfs wrong and through, especially when no stat justifies such a measure. I don't know why so many LoR players systematically come to ask for a nerf of the deck they just lost against. I mean, ok, Catalyzer is strong and so what, is he really the only broken T2 in the game? You want to be reminded that the eye of the dragon exists or what?
darkness has to be one of the only top decks that's actually fun to play and to play against, whenever I lose against darkness is usually cause I misplayed and could've done better and it doesn't feel unfair

I think they prioritize giving new level up animations to champions who don't properly appear in their default ones, like Anivia, Yasuo etc

Uh.. I think you're miscalculating. If he played the Ixtali Sentinel he'll just die to open attack next turn. His was the correct play.

I don't think it is that feasible, level 2 lee only has 5 attack and they don't have overwhelm
Probably add the spell to thresh viego, it does synergies with both level up conditions

I'm also fine with Darkness but I feel like Catalyzer is already so good when he gets to strike just once, he can easily be a 2/2 and it would be fair because he will be succesful in what he is meant to do anyway and usually you trade with him right. So just a neat little nerf I would say
Honestly that would be a good nerf, but it doesn't need it as much, being 2 health is always gonna be traded by even 1 drops, if you want to dish out catalyzer on your attacking turn, yes you would strike once, but the opponent used a 1 drop to trade with you, thus, mystic shot, pokey stickS, any 2 pings will deal with catalyzer and any opponent will do just that to slow down your darkness progress

The deck really doesn't need any nerfs rn. This deck while popular is tier 2 when compared to the meta. It has some unfavorable matchups against them and it's best matchup against them is "meh" at best. A catalyzer nerf would just be overkill rn.
Darkness has never had a problematic winrate. NEVER. The nerf would be totally unfair especially since the Catalyzer is, literally, the most important card in the deck after Veigar. If you touch him, you kill the deck. We must stop asking for nerfs wrong and through, especially when no stat justifies such a measure. I don't know why so many LoR players systematically come to ask for a nerf of the deck they just lost against. I mean, ok, Catalyzer is strong and so what, is he really the only broken T2 in the game? You want to be reminded that the eye of the dragon exists or what?

darkness has to be one of the only top decks that's actually fun to play and to play against, whenever I lose against darkness is usually cause I misplayed and could've done better and it doesn't feel unfair
