You should check out Kevin Kostner in 'Dances with Wolves' - it's awesome! He's also great in 'Bull Durham', '3000 Miles to Graceland', and 'The Big Chill'.
I know you've probably gotten a thousand requests for The Sopranos, but... 😁 It truly is the best TV drama of all time. We'd love to see you react to it. 😃👍
There's only one problem: I totally agree with you, because I've watched it! But I might eventually do something like "rewatching my favorite episodes" because it's always great to watch
Sicilian American, second generation from the Bronx. (mio nonno Vincenzo era di Caltabellotta). My mother Francesca Schittone-Guarino was looking for a good job in the 1930's and she had to change her name to "Frances Stone" or she'd never get hired. People forget how difficult it was to get a legitimate job back in those days if you were "too Italian".One aunt got a nose job, too.
@@PennyisWatching don't do it we love Penny as is. That was a different time and the greatest generation of this country came from all places. Those immigrants valued coming to America and wanted to be Americans and really do better for their families immigrating legally.
The little girl in the beginning was getting milk for her family, not alcohol. My mother and aunt used to do that when they were little during World War II when there was rationing.
"Here endeth the lesson" is part of the liturgy from the Church of England along with "Here endeth morning prayers" with which Arthur "Bomber" Harris would conclude the morning briefing after night raids on Germany in WW2. It's a very old expression.
I saw the scene on the bridge (when Ness threw the note in the river) being filmed! My grandmother was a good friend of Capone (my great uncle was an enforcer for him), and I grew up in Cicero, IL, around many of the people who were involved; my first job was at a Burger King owned by the Outfit, so...
Excellent reaction. I love drama because a movie can't hide behind action scenes, fantasy or violence. The acting, the direction and the script have to be top notch and this film is definitely top notch.
You’re absolutely right about Kevin Costner. He’s great. To answer your question there’s a few movies that he made that he did real good in: 1. Dances With Wolves 2. JFK 3. REVENGE 4. The Bodyguard 5. Robin Hood
Great reaction as always Penny!! I was shocked to see this reaction out so quick on the heels of A Fistful of Dollars. I totally look forward to the next one! A possible recommendation for a Kevin Costner film for you would be Field of Dreams and it also has some baseball in it.
back in Chicagee they would always play the old Untouchables show with robert stack that was in black and white for as long as i can remember on public broadcast channels. ive prob seen them all and still hum the intro song : )
You should see Mean Streets with De Niro. It was early De Niro and I think his best acting ever. The film was directed by Sccorsese and it's a great film.
Fun fact: I actually wanted to react to Mean Streets on the day I've recorded this one, but it was recently pushed off the Prime Video's catalogue, and it's now on AppleTV in Italy. I don't have an active subscription to that right now, but I wanted a movie of that kind, so I ended up watching The Untouchables!
This is a banger of a movie! A truly amazing cast. Sean Connery got his Oscar for this role, it was well deserved. Hahahaha! No, you do not sound like Robert De Niro. Or De Niro playing Al Capone. 😂 You are much more like Monica Bellucci in her early career. That’s what I think. 😉👍
Very happy to know Sean Connery won an Oscar, he was amazing in this movie! When he started getting shot I could feel a tear fighting to come out, I felt like they were killing my grandpa. Definitely a character to grow affectionate with! Monica Bellucci is the most beautiful woman in the world (and I don't even like women that way, but she's just so gorgeous) so I appreciate anything I might have in common with her 😂
Bravo! I love watching your reactions, Penny. I can't wait to see the next ones. I really hope you mix in some older classic films, like from the 1940s through the 1970s. Ciao
Another great reaction. If you have not seen it, another film, which includes real life gangsters from this period, The Road to Perdition, is one you might like.
I'm afraid there aren't many movies that are worse than Waterworld 😂 There was a Dances With Wolves VHS in my house growing up, and I've always ignored it. Sorry VHS, I should have paid more attention to you! Never heard of A Perfect World, but I see Clint Eastwood directed it and that's usually a good sign!
For me a ok movie 🍿🎥 Way more enjoyable watching with you!! A true mobster classic try THE PUBLIC ENEMY from 1931 with James Cagney!! His breakout role as the silver screen tough guy! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
I have seen all of the Godfather movies more than once! I should honestly rewatch Goodfellas though, since it would almost be a first time watching. I've seen it only once, when I was just 12 or so, with the Italian dubs. I remember liking it, but I doubt I fully grasped what was going on since I was so young, plus you can never be sure the translation is perfect when a movie gets dubbed
Public Enemies and Road to Perdition are another two decent mob movies. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is an entertaining Kevin Costner film, classic 90's action film.
I'm a fan of movie reaction videos and I have three suggestions that I think would make great reactions from you. Prison Movie suggestion...Cool Hand Luke(1967) Italian Family Movie suggestion...Moonstruck(1987) Baseball Movie suggestion...Bull Durham(1988) These are movies that don't have great reactions yet and I think you would be perfect for them. If you'd like more suggestions just comment here and I will be glad to share more.
The only true facts in this movie are the names of Capone, Nitti and Ness. Al Capone was convicted of tax evasion. Frank Nitti died of a self-inflicted wound fifteen years later, and Eliot Ness moved to Cleveland I believe.
Thank you. Penny, in answer to your question at 11:36. You obviously do have an accent, but you do not sound anything like the Italian-Americans in the movie. For your Mafia viewing pleasure, if you haven't seen them, a few of my favourites: "Once Upon a Time in America" (1984), "Miller's Crossing" (1990), "Bugsy" (1991), "Donnie Brasco" (1997), and "A History of Violence" (2005).
I haven't watched any of those movies! My watchlist grows once more :) I wonder if my accent is so much different from an Italian-American accent because I'm from Northern Italy, while most people who emigrated to the USA were from the South
@@PennyisWatching Unfortunately I cannot say why your accent would be different. Though my family is, some generations back, from the north, around the lakes, I can not speak more than a few words of Italian. There is a UA-camr called Metatron, he is a linguist and historian who might be able to answer your question. He is, I believe, originally Sicilian and his accent is very much like the characters you see in American Mafia movies, so you may be right.
Great reaction! I see you’re pretty new. Check out It’s A Wonderful Life (1946) for Christmas if you haven’t seen it. It’s the best Christmas movie ever made.
11:33 No... you sound like an authentic Italian who is speaking english (lovely accent).....the character in the film sounds like a 1930s Chicago gangster with an accent that is barely perceptively Italian-American.... an actor trying (not really successfully) to impersonate a 1930s gangster.
This movie is great entertainment but ZERO for history. The only thing about this film that is historically accurate is there was a man named Elliot Ness, a group they called the Untouchables, and another man named Al Capone who was a mobster. One could write a book on the historical inaccuracies. For example Frank Nitti committed suicide in the 1940s. The gangsters weren't just Italians. There was the Irish mob and the Jewish mob.

30:01 Penny cheering for the good guys and making fun of the bad guys.
Hey, I hated that guy! 😂
9:35 "He is so Italian-American..." Not quite, Penny - the actor's name is Andy Garcia, of Spanish background and born in Cuba... 🙂
Which makes him a great actor, because he was looking SO SO SO SO Italian American! Could have just moved out of Sicily 😂
@@PennyisWatching He's quite often cast as an Italian-American. A few years after this he had a major role in The Godfather Part III... 🙂

"Minka" 😅😅
The Italian way:

This is such a great movie and loved your reaction to it. If you want something similar to this, you should try Hoodlum with Laurence Fishburne.
One of my all-time favorite movies.

Robert DeNiro found one of Al Capone's tailors and had him customers make all the suits DeNiro wears in the moviem
