      @GotAFedInAHeadLock there was no good and evil in WW1. It was completely grey. It was a territorial dispute that got out of hand and killed millions of people, not a struggle of good and evil.

      It's sad, it really is. I'm American and I can tell you I probably know way more about the first world war and the second than most Americans, and I wasn't even thought it in school. I learned it all from my grandparents because they both served and fought in ww2. I know details about ww2 that americans dont even know or even think to be true.

      To be fair, the reason this documentary is such a big deal is because they spent a lot of time and care restoring and adding colour and sound to 100 year old footage from a time when that didn’t exist. They still make a big deal about World War 2 footage when it’s in colour, so for most it’s unheard of for the First World War.

    This was a good clip. To understand how incredible this film was, I would check out the trailer of it. Peter Jackson took footage that was over 100 years old, colorized it (the best I've seen), dubbed in voices from actors, sound effects from actual equipment that matched the footage, cleaned up old recordings of the soldiers talking, etc. Its amazing. It's hard to know how cool that is without knowing what's going on. Rather than one clip from the film, you should react to the trailer. Really powerful.

    When you think about it. Great Britian could have well joined the Germans to fight the Russians and French. Because first of all Kaiser wilhelm and king George v. I think he was the fifth somebody correct me on that, but both of them were cousins and had the same grandmother, Queen Victoria. The only reason for England going to war with Germany was because Germany in away did invade Belguim. England and Belguim were best friends at the time. So England couldn't just stand by while their friends were being invaded. If germany didnt go through Belguim to get into France England could have well joined the Germans or maybe may of not even entered the war at all.

    • @godzofdemise6575
      @godzofdemise6575 4 роки тому +2

      Its an interesting theory, but wilhelm despised his english relatives. He was born abit "deformed" which back then was a huge deal. He was an embaressment to the snooty royal family and had to have some kind of brace to fix his problem. The way he was treated by his English royal family is well documented very interesting. He had alot more against britain than hitler did! Hitler quite admired the british for our fighting in ww1. I guess it wasnt a brit who shot his bollock off!

    WW1 was trench warfare or a stale-mate warfare sometimes doing a small skirmish. Mostly both sides bombarded each-other with shells it was until late in the war where the British Mark 1 Tank was sent into combat where it helped the advance into german lines. Zepplins did horrible air raids on civilian targets and fighters strafed trenches.
    WW2 is fucking different in 1939 the french tried to do trench warfare only to be overwhelmed by the new Blitzkreig the Germans used where vehicles and infantry did a fast attack which the French were not prepared for. Tanks became more armored, faster and airplanes were more agile and quicker then ever and deadlier. Giant bomber formations devastated cities to rubble.
    And yeah ima stop its also embarrassing that my 11 year old cousin knows history more then you guys which are probably in your twenties

      The thing to do would be take their valuables and give them a card with your address and tell them to write and send their address to you if they survive the war and you will send them their valuables if you do. Realistically, when you get captured in war, any valuables you have WILL be taken.If one guy doesn't take your stuff,another will. Unless you shove them where the sun don't shine, of course. But anyway, all this is fantasy and war is far to complicated for everyday morality.
