Looks a big machine, I bought myself one of the new model Hayter 41 pros with the honda engine and am very pleased with it, far better than my 48 pro at cutting and collecting damp grass. With regard to getting mowers up steps, I have a lawn that is up a hill with 33 steps, I take a lightweight Hayter for that job as I have to carry it all the way up. Best regards, Mick.
I’ve been running one for a couple of years now. In my opinion a quality mower, as you say a bit heavy but very well built. I’ve had to replace the belt for the drive that’s at the bottom of the engine twice. Bit of a pain as a full engine off job, but think I’ve found out it’s due to build up of grass behind the left side of the black plate on the rear of the mower. Worth removing and clearing from time to time. Would not hesitate to get another when it’s time for renewal.
I have an r43rve, and its an amazing mower. Right now i can see the stripes in the lawn very faintly from a cut 4 months ago, but trying to use it in the wet, gets blocked all the time.
Early days, a bit of a negative start, Hopefully it will work out for you, one of the lads I worked with years ago used to swear by his JD, the rest of the team opted for the Honda's, may be it will grown on you. All the best mate
I use the older version of this mower on larger gardens it's very robust does a great job takes a bit of getting used to after using a hayter but I like the finish the jd gives the blade disengage so you don't have to keep starting it every time you empty the grass box it's not the best when the grass is wet and a bit long but those that want striped lawn have it cut regularly so it's only picking up clippings not long grass the newer models don't look as tough as the older ones with the kawasaki engine but that seems to be the way of all new mowers and power tools
Looks a nice bit of kit what shop was that your not to far away from me I use Duttons they are hayter and Honda dealers Getting a new mower next season getting a bit fend up with Honda think I am going to get a hayter I would like to have a look at them Thanks for sharing great review
For the last 8+years I've been using a Mountfield SP 505R and it's been excellent! Did have to get a new height adjusting bar but other than that, a couple of cables. For £750 it's been outstanding. Probably replace it like for like if this one ever dies!
@@LHLgardenservices, do like your videos, you work very similar to me apart from the mulching mower which I haven't got round to buying yet but see why you use it, been stung many times with waist disposal. You say it how you see it & I like that, quite refreshing these days! Keep up the good work, you do a great job so good luck to you!
Great video lee, can I ask what’s your first impression of build quality compared to the Honda? And how did the engine feel? I didn’t know Subaru even made small machinery engines.
Hi Martin.. still a bit early to tell but all seems good and solid (and heavy in case I never mentioned it 🤣🤣) I will do a better review in a month or so 👍👍
hello mate, can I ask, what mower would you recommend for wet grass? I want a good professional long use mower & don’t mind spending £1000+ if needs be, just so stuck on what to buy, don’t want anything too heavy, four wheeled or roller
Common problem with honda roller is the drive going. A couple things to look at is the chain on the side that powers the roller and if it’s not that then it will be the roll pins that have snapped. It happens when you go round sharp curves and you have the drive on. With it being a solid roller it twists and snaps the roll pin.
Nice to see someone trying something different, will watch with interest, wet pick up looks good, Subaru be round for years, first imported to US called Wisconsin, robins, well proven and very reliable. Heavy mower, long wheelbase will cancel most of the excessive weight out on lawns. Great choice
I had a go with one in the council the self propel lever tends to drag you along its very fast like wish it was a bit slower on self propell I haveto work with it all day 😂
I've had 2 John deers mowers large and small both had broken handlebars within 6 months ended up giving them extra support anyways back to the Hayter 56 also found Honda height adjustment weak , enjoy 😊
U can put a very good mulch blade on that mower mate I run it on my 2 during the summer the fan above the blade will pack the bag like a bale there well built long lasting machines buddy iv ever only had to service mine and ul still have resale value in 6 years time that mower will out live a hayter any day the handles iv on 3 height and I'd spin her a a pound coin a few lawns ul be well used to it
Yeah was using it today on a couple of small lawns and it was fine. I will be getting the Honda fixed anyway so best of both worlds👍 give us a shout next time your in ellsmere port👍👍
Careful not to clip anyhing with the from wheels.... and make sure it's well strapped when in the van... overall I'm not impressed with the jd I bought... hope you have more luck than we did. .. Honda all the way for me!
Looks like a mower that’s hard work. The handlebars look awkward to me. Pulling the drive bar up all day could be tiring? Sounded like you had choke on the first clip. Front wheel separate height adjusters. Really? Looks quite long. Is it longer than the Honda? Smooth roller. Watch out for wet muddy lawns. That will spin up like a Subaru Impreza 😂. Looked a good cut and bagged well. Always two boards for big mowers mate. Lot easier. Think you will keep it or return it?
Should of Bought an Etesia Pro 46 with Rear Roller Kit. Im my opinion Etesia are the Very Best mowers with rear discharge collection. They will Not block up even in Heavy Tall Thick Wet Grass!
Hi has any viewers of this Chanel ever used the new stihl mowers if so the model rm650t. I have bought one and I’m very disappointed. Would just like to know what other thought about this machine, thanks.
Really poor cut! It leaves a strip of grass from the middle of the cutting blade if that makes sense. The handle bolt fell off within the first two days. I have videos of this to show the shop it was bought from. I originally had the 448 Viking and believe it or not it was 100% better.
Lee ,the rain is a blessing here in Texas, great looking yard like always.
I've been using and repairing the older versions of this mower and I can say they are heavy and best suited for larger lawns.

Hi Mick.. yeah I wont be just having this size mower we need a couple of sizes for all eventualities 👍👍
Yet again lee great video and job nice looking mower and a john Deere

Can't argue there...seemed well built and it cut well but as I said as it I found it too heavy and awkward I guess it cancelled these out 🤔🤔👍

Nice bit of kit and quality stripe..meany years of reliability there. 👍
I use a hayter harrier 48 and works well built to last and not made of plastic like most new machines
those lines are crisp ! doesnt look like its very easy to turn , plus it needs regular wheels in the back for better traction
That is a nice Mower Lee!!!
👍🏻😁
The wieght might mean it sits down well in turf with a bit of moss or thatch and leaves a flat finish.
It certainly looks like a fine machine!
Hi Wayne . yes swings and roundabouts....quite happy up to now . can't get a good test on these lawns at the moment. 👍

It's hard getting used to a new mower. I'm sure once you've used it for a month you will love it. M

could you swap in a split roller?
@@zarrow50 No idea Clive but that would be a great thing to do if possible...I will look into that 👍👍
get some double o-ring chain get it at an industry supply .co. or Granger co
Yes Jack it was snapped pins 👍🏻

😠😠did the warranty cover them??
Yes initially, I strengthened them after the dealer replaced them on his advice they are a tad heavy hence leaving a more def stripe
Dont you put the gras and so on under bushes so it goes back to soil?
Have you not watched my videos 🤔🤔
Anyone here in 2021 and wondering when the rain will stop 😂😂👍
Is this mower made in the states or in uk most mowers I see with a roller are on reel mowers most stripping is done with the blade speed
Don't know to be honest pal 🤔
Ha u got the deere buddy u won't be sorry she's a great mower very power full small lawns put her in second gear big lawns open her up well wear buddy
Do you sell any of your old mower Lee?
they would be worn out mate .🙈
What mower would you recommend to buy ?
Sorry there are too many variables about a mower and unfortunately NOT one is a perfect mower...I dont have a recommendation 👍
Do you still have this mower or got rid

John deere made great mowers back in the 1990s with the Kawasaki engines. Now they have Briggs ....😭😭

lol
Lee what's this mower like now you've had it a few months? Does it still pick up well in damp or wet conditions? Thinking of getting one.
Sounds like a tank
