Hi David! I am loving your Trinidad and Tobago coverage! It's all about the people, culture and food for me! I haven't been back to my homeland in years and I watching these videos is making me want to head back for some much needed vacation! Keep up the good work and loads of love! ❤❤❤
Very happy that in Tobago you got to try more diversity for breakfast beyond the doubles and aloo!! Nothing like smoke herring/ salt fish and bake…… I never had that cassava coconut bread! I’m about to try soon 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
I’m truly invested and enjoying watching you eat food for 30 minutes at a time. Such a delight! I have to look up these places when I’m back home next time. Keep up the good work! Greets from Austria!! 🇦🇹
Every video keeps getting better and better. This is my favorite so far. I LOVE the idea of eating a meal from a big bowl. It's a lot of fun and you know something good is in it. I would like to try my hand at some of these foods. And coco tea ☕? Wow! 👏😇
Come experience our vibez, best times to visit are Carnival(February), summer vacation(July-August) or Christmas(November-December). That’s when most of the parties(fetes) happens.
everything was so traditional! Love the old time cups with the Cocoa tea, my grandma always did that for me with dinner, 💗the fry dry Herring fish, the Cassava pone, interesting Turmeric Papaya pepper sauce, Turmeric is soooo easy to grow! Will try that some time and the Cassava flat breads. Yuh get a real good Tobago breakfast there David!! Great job The Dirt Oven restaurant 👏Love your T-short Logo - TTFA 👍
Came across your channel recently can't seem to stop watching it truly enjoyed every episode so glad you had an awesome time here being a trini woman I know just how delicious the foods are big up Trinidad and Tobago looked forward to viewing more episodes p.s can't believe a tiny person like you can't eat all that food lol
Best time to come to Tobago for food is during Heritage Festival. Your belly will burst going house to house and being fed all the best stuff. Whole suckling pig, so many stewed meats, ground provisions, breadfruit, roast fish, lobster, conchs, clay oven-baked breads. Heritage Festival is in October. So there is still time to plan your visit.
😋😋😋that last meal with the cocoa brought back memories of my grandmother. Everything you ate she used to make that. The cocoa with sticks of chocolate, cassava pone, sweet bread, herring, salt fish and bake....heaven, definitely heaven. Mouthwatering and the way you eat and explain everything, even more. Over the top.❤❤😋😋😉 Edit: the calabash, my grandmother had trees and used to make them. My uncle made the mortar, wooden scrubbing board for clothes and box ovens to put on the stove when baking. All for my grandmother. Good memories. Thank you.
The cassava bread when made without coconut is the contribution of Trinidad and Tobago's original occupants -indigenous people. It was the bread which kept early settlers, the enslaved and the slave owners, alive in the early days of colonization in the Caribbean. Its found in all Caribbean islands. Have it with some ripe Avocado which has been lightly sprinkled with salt.
Lizabet X, While reading this I was in tears just thinking about all the hardships our ancestors had been through and made it better for us; whether dead or alive, may God bless their dear souls! Thank you for this comment, it jogged my memory; God bless you 🙏 ❤
Despite the influx of divisive comments directed toward content surrounding the indo trini flavors, awesome exposure, David is now a honorary trinbagonian, also the man pepper tolerance impressive, take win
Another awesome one, the traditional utensils, food, and you enjoying it all also the friendly and beautiful girls, Sent me back to my childhood days memories, Loved this video, Thankyou David and stay safe on all your travels,
Roti is sooooooo good. My x boyfriend family is from Trinidad and whenever they went back they brought us some to Miami where we live and it's just delish!! Oh and Trini food is very spicy 🔥🥵 for the most part!!
I happenstance on this channel and I am binge watching. You guys are hilarious the sounds and the expressions on your faces is like you're romancing the food. I am a foodie and just love to see others enjoying real food.

What about the other part of the video ' breakfast at the dirt oven' ? A wide choice of trini breakfast, bake and coco tea, buljol and smoked herring etc. real local stuff. So not sure what you mean.
Wow, roasted Scotch bonnet chilly sauce!! You’re brave, David! Your face turned so red after eating doubles with that sauce 😡😃 Enjoying your Trinidad videos 💕

I’m a new sub to your channel. I must say I love the way you are open to trying other cultural foods from different countries. You must go to MAURITIUS they do a lot of delicious street food there.
Obsessed and love these videos.. Glad to see tobagonians and the tourists get/have/experience their own indo-trini food place. It must be convenient/fun. The wave of nostalgia from dirt oven place though. The hostsesses were very hospitable and informative. They also seemed very spiritual and aware from the om tattoo and evil eye jewelry. Good for them. Will definitely visit if i ever visit tobago.
So happy to see all of this. Hopefully you were able to enjoy the offerings of the Breakfast Shed in Port-of-Spain. Other desserts; chilli billi, currant roll, black cake, guava cheese, coconut ice cream, tamarind balls, coconut drops, jub jub. Condiments; chow chow, kuchela and jams (any fruit). Other dishes; pastelles, paime, callaloo, macaroni pie, breadfruit oil down, corn meal coo coo, corn soup, barbeque pigtails. I mean at least introduce the man to a Royal Castle chicken sandwich. I would continue, but I've made myself hungry. Need to get into the kitchen. I will probably snack on preserved fruits later. Ital food this weekend. David is missing SO much.......
@Soca Addict yes! yes and yes that’s what I’m talking about man… I think @Davivdbeenhere is finally reading our comments so they throw in this vid for us.
@@gabriellaboynes7042 he has been reading the comments because about 2 weeks ago he answered my comments. Just remember that it's what they planned for him, so don't blame him if he doesn't visit the places that we would like him to see and the foods we would like him to try. They could have started him in Trinidad with this kind of food to give him a little taste before going to Tobago. e.g. the cassava pone is quite different to the one sold at the Indian vendors in Trinidad. The one in Tobago is how I remember it. This is an improvement but why did they have to go to Tobago for him to eat this kind of food. Doubles again although it looked tasty. It is kind of showing a divide between Trinidad and Tobago, if you know what I mean, everything Indian in Trinidad and let's see what else in Tobago. I will make a final assessment after it is all over. And I hope Jason Peru and whoever is responsible for arranging this trip and itinerary is reading our comments because they should explain how they planned it. Cassava pone and sweet bread is found in almost every bakery in Trinidad and Tobago. Of course some bakeries have a better product than others. But, a dirt oven imparts greater level of authentic flavour.
