You could opt for a full loft bed situation and double your space that way. When a space is small think of furnishing it upwards. Add bookshelves on the ceiling part. Try to install shelves on the wall and not on the floor to make the room less crowded. Congrats on the move.
When I think of a NYC apartment, this is what I imagined. Very urban. Has the New York feel (even with the brick being painted.) Congratulations! Plan on getting my own apartment in Chicago.

What are you talking about? That's a nice apartment! They have a beautiful kitchen with a gas stove (better than electrical), a nice bathroom, new floors, the cupboard is already there so won't take up space in the room. Everything's fine with that place. The only thing I don't like are the glass doors in front of one of the rooms. No privacy there. So you need a curtain or something.

Nice apartment. When I moved here I had to get a single bed as well. I do have room for a full but it would take up way too much space. Enjoy the city!

IKEA has cute Daybeds that can be a twin or pulled out for a full. I have one and love it. There are also drawers (3) under the bed and the best part is it is not expensive

p.s. i live in a basement, i try to keep it nice...been hear 12yrs, i realized about 5yrs ago, i will never get out (move) as here in TORONTO, there is NO WHERE affordable to move! so i just try to make the best of it 😀

Brenda, any where in NY is expensive and small but, well worth it if you are single and love to move around in public transportation, that is my opinion.
Nothing like NY, crazy crowded but keeps you moving.
It also looks to me like you live in either Brooklyn or Queens. They are great boroughs to live in and affordable depending on what neighborhood you choose to live in.

3:25 would give me nightmares o_o i am not an american so this to me looks like a scene from those american action horror films where someone always dies and are based in NYC...lol but it has same kinda weird charm -_- (i would so go thereXD) well to me atleast but maybe its because i dont see buildings like these in Europe.... i don't know... but i really like the apartment its so pretty :)

You've probably purchased a bed by now, but you could use a standing hammock to save space. Not to mention they're only around $40.

Aww, I can completely understand that! It was hard for me to adjust living with another person at first, but after awhile we became good friends and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Why are you neighbors windows (looking from your kitchen window) so dirty? Dont they ever clean them? I clean our windows 4 times a year - from the inside as well as from the outside. Then they look so nice, clean and shiny and the cleanliness gives our whole apartment kind of a nice spark. I cant imagine living in an apartement with windows so dirty that you can barely see whats outside...
How much does it cost an apartment like this in new York? It's just a curiosity because I am thinking to move there next year!

git to make some rules about your roommates boyfriend.is he part of the package.when I had multiple housemates we had a rule of no overnight bed mates.guests slept on couch in living room .
