Had a good friend over to teach me how to make a bullwhip out of paracord. Not that anyone on UA-cam doesn't know at this point, but the reason a bullwhip is so loud is that it breaks the speed of sound and creates a "small" sonic boom. Sounds like a gunshot in person. So here's what happens when a human is hit with one. No ragrets.
Strand Lengths:
Inner Layer:
2 meters = 6 1/2'
1 meter = 3 1/3'
80 cm = 2.6'
50 cm = 1.6'
Outer Layer:
(x2) 7 1/3 meters = 24'
5 1/3 meters = 18'
5 meters = 16.4'
4.3 meters = 14.1'
3 meters = 9.9'
(x2) 5 meter = 16.4'
3 meter = 9.9'
4.3 meter = 14.1'

ALTERNATE BUILDING MATERIAL:
If you don’t own or have access to an angle grinder,
Instead of nails, use 10 inch carriage bolt screws. The threads will provide more than enough grip if you can’t cut a notch, plus there’s no pointy tip to poke through the cord

The hammer hurts more initially and has the muscle tightening effect going for it, but is painless only a couple seconds after the zap. The whip is a much more prolonged sting, which is why I'd choose to be stunned over whipped if I had to choose again. A full contact swing with the hammer would be a different story though lol.

When you'e grinding metal, you should either put the part in a vice and use an angle grinder, or hold the part in your hand and use a bench grinder. Holding the angle grinder in one hand and the metal part in the other is awkward and impractical. You WILL hurt yourself doing it this way. And not just minor cuts and welts. I've seen it firsthand. To an abrasive disk spinning at 7000 RPM, human flesh offers about as much resistance as pudding.

You really need to learn how to use one of those things. You are going to hurt yourself or someone else. You're using power rather than technique. The loud pop used to make a team of horses run was made using a throwing motion rather than that downward pull and a backward jerk. You're going catch the popper in the eye with movement. You see, at your age I was giving demonstrations to groups and the public. I would have someone hold a newspaper in front of themselves and I would cut it in half. I picked single flowers and took cigars out of some brave persons mouth. Believe me, I practiced long and hard to do those things. Fluid motion and follow through are what gets the job done, not brute strength. As I said, I did these things in my late teens and early twenties, now I'm almost 70. If I could I would make a video and show you some tricks but now I'm lucky to be able to reach about me head. Old age really is a bitch at times. Good luck with your whip.
+Asher The Thief Mine were made out of leather. The longest was 10'. I used it most of the time. You ar going to get a big laugh out of this but there is a very old western hero, Lash La Rue. We're talking way back in early days of movies. He was an expert with a whip. I had one of his movies and I watched it over and over (where he used the whip). Then I tried until I could do it. I found once I built up one basic movement I could build on it. I started by standing and twirling the whip over my head like a helo rotor. Once I had that down a simple snap of the wrist downward I could hit a target on the ground and bounce the tip back up and around. I worked on that until I could hit with nothing but the popper and snap and bring the popper back up and around for another strike. I learned very quickly not to throw the popper out and pull it back towards me, The welt on my face went away in about a week. I think I spent about three years learning.

Do you guys ever check your discussions? There is a major discrepancy in your TUTORIAL video, and I could use some clarification. You give, 'outer, and inner' strands... and after wrapping the inner strands with electric tape, you move to next step at about 6:00 and say, 'use the inner strands' Ive already used the inner strands like you said... are there two inner strands? A little help please.
