When absorbing all these 'how to' videos for beginners a lot of the info is redundant or common sense. This interview was fantastic, gave a lot of original ideas I haven't heard before, and both of you are very well articulated and passionate about it. Love this!! Thanks for sharing.
I'm focusing on youtube! I've been doing it for a little over two years now and am JUUUUUST about to hit 50k, probably within the next couple weeks! I love watching your content and learning from you. I'm married to a Pastor, so we both like your story and we love what you've done with your online career! Keep it up! We found you through your book!
Hold on.. Lets just acknowledge and commend the fact that we heard no noise from their background during this video! I mean it was straight silent and I saw a man with a loud ass trash bin walk by them, and a man zoomed by them on his electric wheel chair and they didn't miss a beat!! Thats a great set up!!
It is so beautiful how you in the middle of this video ask for the like button, You are very charismatic, I barely started watching your great videos...and so just realized I have so many to watch for my future youtube channel, so thank you!
I listen to instead of watch UA-cam videos all day every day. He's talking a lot about how people won't stay long if there's nothing to see and just audio but that's what UA-cam is for me.
UA-cam is my main focus right now, but I've probably heard close to 100 times that I should start a podcast after people hear my voice. I'll make it happen in due time! The ideas in this video for how to appropriately repurpose was fantastic.
Definitely considering a Podcast. Pat Flynn's tutorial videos have totally inspired me!! I'll be 60 in less than 2 months but I look and feel like 40!!
Just in first 6 minutes Pat actually answers all the major questions in my head. Thank you for this, glad I watch this before doing something. Podcasting or Vlogging
Hey Sean and Pat, I know I've said this in the comments in other videos, but thank you!! Pat got us seriously motivated to start a podcast, and you got us seriously motivated to start UA-cam (following the Joe Rogan style). We started back in Feb so we're very new. It is a struggle to gain followers/subscribers but we're not in it for money or anything...just having a blast doing this! All the tips in this video are extremely helpful especially for newbs like us. Probably a big takeaway from all your and Pat's videos is never stop learning and have fun before thinking of making any money. I know that if I never make a dime, I'll still consider this a win because we're having fun doing this. Okay, I'm done with my rant 😂 Keep it up, both of you! Your inspiration and motivation is addicting!!
I'm thinking of starting both a podcast and UA-cam channel. My concern is that I'm cross-eyed and that may be a distraction for the UA-cam channel. Should I still go that route or stick to podcasting?

You guys are great. Thinking of starting a youtube channel on bluegrass in Texas. Very excited about it. We are bluegrass musicians and know a lot of people and go to lots of festivals and gatherings. Want to share with people who may not know what we do.

very informative video, I have been currently working on growing my channel geared towards men's fashion, and have been thinking about taking the podcast route since I can talk about topics for longer, have interviews with people, etc.
Have you ever thought about doing your podcast but filming it at the same time? It’s getting really big right now and is great as it tackles both video and podcast at the same time?
Justin Houser ive thought about doing it that way .. but what is the incentive for ppl to watch you on both platforms if you are providing the same material?
Annette Taylor think like Joe Rogan. His podcast is #1 everywhere and he has over like 2+ million UA-cam subs. He videos his podcast via YT. I prefer to watch his stuff over listening to it.
This definitely helped me with my journey. I’m enjoying the process. I know UA-cam is work you just need to want it bad enough and work hard. Thank you for this.
Thank you for another great video. I will stick to videos, I just love filming and creating little films and expressing myself through visuals. but still this was a very very interesting topic, Thanks Sean!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been stuck getting started. There is so much to think about. Got great tips and will start with a pod cast first and them move into UA-cam a few months afterwards.
Love this @PatFlynn! answered a few questions I was wondering, and created more to ask you this Thursday ;) thanks for sharing an awesome interview @SeanCannell going through your stuff now as I gear up to "launch" or "re-Launch" my channel with exactly what you were discussing here "Using podcast episodes and repurposing content" this was my Endgame from the start and happy to say I've got 70+ episodes from my podcast all of which I've filmed from day one before launch Feb 1st, 2019 :) now to figure out the keyword best practices and YT algorithm. Thanks for all you share, going to pick up your book :)

podcast. for the poor kids. the kids that are seeing some of the things I've seen. I've made it through a king pin dad. i made it thought meth, OxyContin , methadone, and heroin addiction. this is not for the money. only for helping kids. Thank you all for the time you gave us for this video! This video make it clear to start with podcast. now the study of what all i need to start and funds to start.
Thank you so much for this interview....this was so helpful with strategizing my priorities....I am in the midst of creating videos for youtube and also have started interviewing people for a podcast in my niche...this certainly gave me alot to consider in regards to strategy, priorities, and time management...Thanks!
I've been uploading videos to UA-cam for a good few months now.. kinda willynilly to be honest lol.. but now I've got it clear as to what it's all about.. and so from now I'm upping my game, investing in the right equipment and am going to do both UA-cam and a podcast.. watch this space peeps!! 😀❤️🌟👊
As my little logo suggests, I have a podcast that I record a UA-cam video for. I have to become more consistent. My channel focuses on social and political issues and that appeals to a wide but selective audience. One of my recent videos got multiple views and another one got very few. I noticed that my podcast about historical political events tend to get a lot of listeners.
I went podcast first and now I'm focusing HEAVILY on UA-cam. But I had to make sure the podcast got traction and momentum and was solid before trying to tackle the beast that is UA-cam.
@@TheBecomingMen Three things: 1. Went hard on it --- went to a 2-3 episode per week model instead of 1 episode a week. 2. Ran ad traffic to a mobile landing page for the podcast with app deep links to make it easy for people to subscribe. 3. My platform gets traffic from many different sources. I make it a point to make sure they know about the podcast and can easily sub because it's such a powerful conversion channel for me. Hope that helps.
Great video. Thank you for sharing that. I am planning to do both. My initial plan is to record the podcast (video) and I'll see how that goes. I have the editing ability to make the video more interesting than me just sitting there...so...crossing my fingers on that one that it works. But I'll be focusing on the podcast first if I just don't like how filming it goes.
I have a discussion podcast and my second channel launching this wednesday morning. I’m very excited. These videos have helped alot to make it a reality. Thank you.
I'm still trying to get started on UA-cam. Posted a few videos. Work in progress. However, I've been in podcasting for 12 years now. I think the time is now to get into podcasting if you're on the fence. If you don't have a lot of money you could always leverage a service like Anchor where the storage is free and your smart phone is your microphone. Quality is going to be OK. Then if you decide to stick with it you should invest in some equipment. Become a part of a community on social media whatever niche you're in and talk to the people!! That's what social media is all about. Interview them on your podcast. I can tell you, my current podcast focuses on talking to strangers on Instagram who are involved in weight loss journeys. It makes for great content and it's more intriguing hearing real raw stories I think vs Interviewing famous people who've been asked the same questions over and over and over again. I used to do wrestling podcasts and you'd get these guys on and it's just the same stuff over and over again. Nothing wrong with that, but that is just my opinion. Last but not least, lean off the vanity metrics and keep on going because it can take a long time before people start to listen to your podcast. Everyone gets hung up on how many downloads they got and what kind of sponsorship deals you can get. If that's the sole reason you're in it, move along. This is a long game. You're going to make mistakes and you're gonna learn as you go. The ones that make it past 50, 100 episodes that's real commitment. Now who's ready to create some podcasts? : )
thanks for the video i am doing both did my podcast 2 years ago forgot about it decide to get back on be more consistent with, it after i saw how many views it got
Relaunching UA-cam June 15th - But seeing where I can Integrate a PodCast. Originally wanting to rip the video from YT, to put onto PC, however, Podcast will have different content and special Guest was my thoughts. Hmmm, lots to think about here! Thank you for this video! Also, I am utilizing Patreon for Monthly subs for a few different tiers, a few being monthly coaching, one-on-one options, which helps sell the coaching (eventually moving this to Sam cart so I can set up the minimum 3 -6 months commitment) the other two tiers are for extended material from YT and the Podcasts. I am approaching the editing time issues, with LIVE content using StreamLine. SO MUCH to THINK about! I feel the pieces are slowly coming together!
I'm a rapper & I'm also a content creator so I think a podcast will be very successful 4 me. I know alot about life period and have opinions on so many brands as well as my own. This video was helpful
I've started a video podcast with some buddies, im more familiar with YT so that iss where we started but been researching a lot about the podcast world and just learned about that rss thing so were delving into podbean area and for now just cutting audio from our video but pat had a good point about video to audio and the problems it incurs. but both are very interesting i think you can do both but its a lot of work and you should just start with the one you think youll do better at cause youll only know by doing it and gaining that experience. thanks for the videos great content!

Definitely interested in both. Currently working on a plan and deciding which one fits that plan best to start out with.
I have been leaning on YT but interested in podcasts. Just want to share and have a blast doing it
Thank you to both of you. This video is very informative an eye openning....helping one understand and choose what and how to do. Thaaank you!
My girlfriend and I are thinking about launching a podcast. This interview was very helpful! Thank you!!!
Very valuable stuff and definitely a lot of good advice.
We've combined UA-cam and our podcast + added "Music review Friday"
Awesome video. Very useful content and great interview. Thank you. Keep’em coming.
Sean question for you. If you were to start a podcast would you include it on this channel or start a new channel?
we are starting one is 2020. :)
@@ThinkMediaTV good to know. Thank you
Whenever I watch you I just know with all the knowledge I have gathered from you I cant be a mediocre vlogger! Just that no subscribers yet 😁😁😁😁😁
I went podcast first and now I'm focusing HEAVILY on UA-cam. But I had to make sure the podcast got traction and momentum and was solid before trying to tackle the beast that is UA-cam.
How did you get your podcast "out there" enough to build that traction that helped you tackle UA-cam
@@TheBecomingMen Three things:
5 yrs "old" but still super helpful and relevant. TY!
I'm starting the two and this video was just the best information.
youtube podcast and igtv channel ... just set the export correctly and post on those 3 together !!!!
Thanks ThinkMedia and Pat - You guys are so transparent in sharing the knowledge which is worth gold.
Thank you.
i liked the video because of how politely you asked. Thanks for that
I'm still trying to get started on UA-cam. : )
Go for it!
thanks for the video i am doing both did my podcast 2 years ago forgot about it decide to get back on be more consistent with, it after i saw how many views it got
Great info! I'm trying to get my parents into starting a podcast. Will definitely share this video with them. Thanks!
Great video! My favorite part is the break down of different ways to monetize your content. 🙌🏽
I'm a rapper & I'm also a content creator so I think a podcast will be very successful 4 me. I know alot about life period and have opinions on so many brands as well as my own. This video was helpful
I do both. Main page is youtube and I post weekly. Podcast, I put a new one out bi-weekly
Just what I was looking for! Thank you - excellent Video!
