I bought mine in april and I absolutely love it ... yes, it is a battery hog, it is pricey, it is heavy ... but ... but it's gorgeous and powerful, even with my 4080 configuration, and added 2TB SSD on top of original 1TB. Mine is plugged in main literally all the time, so battery life isn't really a factor ...

@ambertervoort3744 Yes, I think it'll cater to your needs perfectly. The main screen is gorgeous, and the 2ndary screen acts as a dock for your tools, so the main screen stays uncluttered. I've bought mine mainly for gaming, though I've bought a standalone after that, so I'm not using this one for games that much anymore. But I'd say it's perfect for graphic design, photo editing, etc...

I have one with the 3070ti and Ryzen 9. Its actually an insane peace of tech and i love using it every day. I would have never bought it new, i bought it for 1800€ used. I kind of need the secondary display everywhere i go just to monitor something like discord, youtube music or watch some tutorials and making the main thing one the primary screen. Battary and the Trackpadproblem was never a problem for me just because i have it always plugged in and using a mouse.
Bought the 32 gig a few days ago, I love it so far but mine did not include the mini charger nor the headphones. would of been nice. YES it it loud when gaming, but had hard coil whine and feedback issues with the 3.5 jack Even on Bluetooth. Had to do a Bios update than reinstall plus a special update from ASUS that was not available till contacted support.
VERY nice review. I have found one with a 4800 GPU and 64BG RAM at $300 USD off. Two questions: 1. The smaller screen: is it easy to put, say an EXCEL document there to work on or perhaps a browser to surf the internet while working on an application in the main screen. 2. If you are not using the GPU much, can you run the CPU at say 10-12 cores fairly well maxed out for many 30 min or more at a time and not reach bad thermal throttling? I ask because I really want a laptop with the 7945 HX (for its multi threaded abilities) and the selection is fairly limited. The Asus ROG Strix G17...but there are some things about it I do not like.
I'd also add that if this is a fulltime desktop replacement, take out the battery (yes it will run without it) and enable hibernation because the heat generated by this laptop will kill it overtime even with the the battery lifespan protection toggled on.
lol Just to save yourself a $60 battery replacement? Not logical man. Just get a brand new battery in 2-3 years. 😂

The thing to note is that the things you get in the box varies from region to region. Here in India, we don't get the 100W Power Brick, but we get a Backpack instead.

Amazing review!! I purchased the Zephyrus G14 fully upgraded, but it came in, and the screen didn't work! Then i came across the duo as I'm sending this one back in trying to make the decision on having mine replaced or refunded to purchase this duo. It is a very tough decision!

The compromises were too much for me though.

Loved the video. Funny thing, I just purchased one of these to carry with me to the Philippines to remotely manage my game servers while I am there for around a month. Talking about battery life. I have a Lenovo Legion Y740 with an RTX 2060. Now it games alright at medium settings, but even if I turn brightness down half way, I only get about 30min of runtime out of her. I have learned that if it has discrete graphics in it, you can probably assume your battery life is gonna suck. We don't buy gaming laptops because we can game on battery. We buy them just because it's easier to travel with it vs carrying your whole desktop rig. Lol. So I don't think anyone should expect good battery life. Now I am able to extend my battery life on my Lenovo by going through integrated graphics instead of always through the RTX. However, I don't believe you can do that with the zephyrus duo. But I guess I'll see what I think about it when I get it. I would not have gotten it if I didn't get it on a sale! Lol. Thanks.
I had the former 2020 3060 15" duo 551QM. I got my (2022) 4090 16" last week. I already had two 8tb m.2's; the Inland and the Rocket Q4 to push it to 16gb. I ordered the ram to push it to 96gb@4800. I'm wondering what else I needed to max it out? Also, what separate's it from the 2023 4090?
I guarantee you, I did not pay $7,000 for the laptop but, it still isn't cheap. I think it's OCD at this point. 🤷♂

having a zephyrus S gx531gm, i feel like I'm sacrificing the typing experience for almost nothing, other than that they claim it shrinks down the thickness profile with the lid closed, which I admit is quite sleek for a gaming laptop, but ultimately not gaining much

U can probably increase the battery life to 6h+ if u turn on silent mode, set display to 60hz Everytime u unplug, turn off the second screen, set GPU mode to eco/optimized so it doesn't run the GPU since 4090idle drains tons of battery
I don't know a whole lot about computers but if I wanted one of these but the ryzen 7 rtx3060 version to not spend $4,000 on a laptop how does that stack up performance wise against the ryzen9 rtx4090 version. My main use will be for content editing and business, Im just attracted to the dual screen display for cutting up video segments on a separate screen. I'm not a big time video editor but I do want a laptop that is just as capable as my imagination and creativity can be.

But I would disagree with you regarding ports. There is no Thunderbolt port unfortunately, and also USB-C ports could have USB 4.0 in 2023.

Can you use USB-C power adapter for charging this unit? Power adapter looks huge for traveling?
Yes. You can charge the machine from the left usbc power delivery port only. When i do it on mine it pops up a warning that says: low power delivery detected, close some apps to prolong battery life.

This exact laptop arrived yesterday and the ONLY notable issue (if you can call it that way) is the very short battery life, I understand that both the GPU and Integrated Graphis from the CPU are very power hungry and that this is made for power but it would have been nice if it lasted a but longer, besides that it's perfect
How long were you able to use it before it is completely drained?
@@gentamustaine basically if you wanna game on battery with both the screens and the keyboard backlight you get 1 hour, if you use it casually with the second screen turned off, silent mode and the keyboard backlight turned off, you can get up to 4 hours max
I've been thinking of purchasing this one for myself, could you tell me how the temperatures been holding up? any notable issues?
@@nikamekvevrishvili6739 with the cpu boost active (doesn’t matter the boost mode) the cpu goes up to 99ºC when doing intensive tasks, if you disable the boost it reaches top temperaturas around 83-86ºC which is much better, the GPU heats up around the same temps while maintaining excellent performance, a very very solid machine, I strongly recommend it (I also strongly recommend disabling the cpu boost, at least if you want the laptop to lasts for a long time)
The problem is that current limits on laptop batteries is 99Wh due to airline regulations on devices with lithium batteries: ASUS wouldn't have seen the point to add an extra 9Wh because it wouldn't help at all, and making the laptop impossible to take on a plane is fundamentally unacceptable.
I prefer the smaller SD card so it goes in all the way and not protruding to put in backpacks

Probably, most likely the laptop 4080 can run 4k at decent frames.
Just bought one refurbished 6900hx 3080ti 64gb ram and 4 tb ssd 4K screen for £2000 it’s not a 4090 but for the price im well 😆

The only reason I'd upgrade to another Asus this time a duo would be because of the extra openi that provides additional cooling.
If there was another manufacturer that would make duos I'd never go back to Asus .
I've seen bad jobs with thermal paste... but this was just a shame .
Mx 6 dropped my temp over 20 Degrees .
