I have this vehicle and love it. The infotainment system takes a little time to learn, but it is completely customizable. Once you've taken the time it is actually very easy. My only gripe is that the start/stop function for at lights or stop signs can not be turned off permanently, it requires per trip intervention.
I am very impressed with these 2024 changes. Im even more impressed that a lot of the features are standard across the board on majority if not all trim levels. Having the Digital gauges, and the infotainment screen and heated steering as standard is a shocker especially since you have to go to the top end trim levels to get these features. It definitely makes lower trim levels feel like a very good value.
I like the way you guys show the main panel with panoramic view from the back seat and also by using a tape measuring cargo capacity! Next time spend an extra 10 sec to measure also the width. 😊
Hands down now I would buy the Atlas over the Telluride. For years the Telluride has ben competitive and it still is very nice. But this Atlas has stepped up its game and this is outright luxurious as well
Always use your videos for reference. Thank you for literally being the ONLY people who even touch on the sound system. I would like to know how the standard sound system compares to the harmon kardon.
Gotta say I have watching lot of car reviews and you guys have it covered the best. Covering even sound levels which is amazing. Awesome job guys.. makes it a lot easier to decide when shopping around 😊
Recently bought a 24 SE w/ Technology. Really miss the knobs and buttons. Too much time and attention on the screen and less time focused on the road. Plus, its difficult to use the screen while driving over bumps in the road. Solution...bring back the knobs and buttons.
Only issues I've had so far is the info screen getting pixilated and hard to see. The handful of times it's happened, I simply turn the car off and then back on and it seems to clear the malfunction. The second was the windshield. Had a small 3/4 inch chip that got bigger when safelite tried to fix it. I was told VW has thin brittle windshields.
I’m really liking this refresh. I wish the instrument cluster/screen had the blind spot video with turn signal. I’d consider it to be perfect (without test driving)
This mid-size Suv segment is super competitive. I love the overall style of this over the refreshed Pilot. The 2024 may have made my 2024 top non-luxury SUVs.
Love the review! I live in upstate New York and take the road you guys were on frequently (Route 28 thru the Catskills) and can attest to how pot-hole filled, patched and re-patched (poorly), the roads up here are! Can make even the quietest car, like this Atlas, louder in the cabin. Hope you tried the Phoenicia Diner while up there!
The bad points of my VW Atlas 2024 are You can’t put the seat heat ON at night in order to have a warm seat or steering once you start the engine at morning inside your house Secondly You can’t put the car on Eco mode permanently But we have to change to eco mode every time we start the car
I am thinking of getting an Atlast to replace our Tiguan, which has been bulletproof but getting too small. The red looks nice but the other color options are so boring. Kingfisher Blue is only on the CrossSport? Lame. When the original Atlas came out there were some great color choices.
You won’t regret it. We have a Tiguan and Taos and got rid of the smaller Taos for the atlas. The extra space is so nice. We got the cross sport though once we actually looked at the 3rd row. Usually only have 3 of the 4 kids at a time too. One can drive himself.
I went with the Opal White Pearl and I am very happy. The black one makes the chrome pop way too much. I would say the Silver might be a great option. I quite haven't looked at the red one too close. Definitely this engine and transmission setup has been a big improvement over the V6 that always felt lacking and odd shifting. Plus very poor MPGs.
Great content, as always. Have you made a comparison with the Atlas and Pilot? I'm trying to narrow down the three-row options, and after watching nearly all of your videos, I'm narrowing down to the Pilot and Atlas, but maybe Grand Highlander. There are too many decisions out there. Without putting you on the spot, if you had $55,000 to spend, which you would buy?
Thanks! We'd probably pick the Grand Highlander out of those options for $55k. But they are under stop-sale/recall right now... So then we'd move to the Atlas for the luxury, tech and space it delivers.
As always, nice video! The SEL premium is 52k+ and the SEL starts at 48.5k, and there doesn't seem to be that large of a difference between the SEL and SE/tech package (41.6k). The price of these SUVs has gotten out of hand. I spent about 45k for my last vehicle, but moving forward I plan to buy the base model or a trim level above base if it makes a difference in towing capability. Six year or 72-month car payments is now the "norm" and I think that's ridiculous. No judgement, but I do not understand for the life of me why anyone would finance a vehicle for six years. I mean if you finance a vehicle for that amount of time can you really afford it? I understand some people have no option if they need a car to get to work, and that's the only way they can afford to get into a reliable inexpensive car. However, if it's only a matter of buying a higher trim level, I don't think that's good for consumers or society as demand drives up costs.
I know it's different segment, but crazy that still nothing beats a maxed out Palisade for $52k. Still the "most vehicle for the money". (I know there's always markup, but it is on everything. I'm talkin about sticker prices.)
I hated the old Traverse design, but this new model looks freaking awesome! I'd say this Atlas and the Traverse would be the two I'd debate between purchasing if I were in the market.
Yeah chevy coming for their heads! Its been a long time coming...looks way better this atlas..i better see heated seats n cooling seats plus a heated steering wheel in that chevy though!
The engine in the tig is trash, that b cycle engine should have never been put in anything, this is supposed to be a detuned golf R engine, just wish it got a dsg instead of the lazy 8spd.
Anything with a touch sensitive/capacitive feature is an automatic pass for me. You can adjust anything if your driving and trying to figure out the temperature. Your just asking for an accident.
Could you guys show us the night video please 🙏 I want to see what the light bar , emblem, ambient light inside back and front looks like because I might trade in my 22 Tiguan R line black for the Atlas Se tech . thank you
I have a 2021 Volkswagen atlas. My wife had a deer in May 2023 and the autobody shop has not been able to source a hood or bumper. This is left us with a car payment and insurance but no car to drive. Volkswagen cannot tell us when they are going to start to manufacture, hoods or bumpers, even though they’re pumping out new cars with the exact same hood or bumper I would not buy a Volkswagen atlas or any Volkswagen because they are not manufacturing parts to repair their cars.
Huge improvement compared to the predecessor. It looks more upscale inside and out. I wish there was a V6 mild hybrid option for this size SUV. However, the new 2.0 turbo engine maybe enough, would have to test drive it.
The problem with most of these options for any segment is in the US, anything European is going to be insanely expensive to maintain and repair. Sure they are nice but the cost makes it not make sense to buy one here. Japanese and Korean cars are still way cheaper in the long run. I’d stick with those cars, especially Japanese.
Im looking for a family hauler just checked this atlas and it looked so nice and right after i went to honda and chrcked pilot and right away honda looked cheap and outdated with such small screen and it was the elite one!!
More like watch out for the Atlas as the driver is distracted from driving while busy trying to adjust the settings for the audio and HVAC. VW should be embarrassed for designed such an ergonomic mess with the interior and deleting physical knobs for the audio and HVAC...but don't worry folks! VW is giving you an illuminated VW logo so the tow truck can find you at night when you're in the ditch! LOL
I agree with you that the sliders are not optimal, however you get used to it quickly and normally you wouldn’t change your temperature settings often. The volume slider is more often used by passengers since you got the volume control also on your steering wheel.
Inside is so nice, but why the hell did they leave off BRAKE HOLD?? Insane to have a technology car a modern car without it. Anyone commutes love this feature, otherwise you'd keeping your foot on the brake in heavy traffic, your ankle will kill ya.
A deal breaker if the steering is soft, preferably want a firmer steering, and dislike body rolling when turning. Volkswagen atlas should consider putting a performance dampers due to the big size.
23 combined mpg is actually not very good for a 4-cylinder engine :S - I currently drive a VW TAOS and I get 40 mpg on the highway on 70 cruise :-O Of course it's a much smaller car but 23 combined comparing it to the CX90 that has a 6 cylinder and has better fuel economy :S

They will buy just for fun of it, but not VW..Audi or Volvo as the lowest levels. Think about it. You will get more subscribers when you listen and act for REAL people who wants to buy
As much I like the VR6 in theory, it severely lacks torque and makes a painful rev out. The previous 4cyl turbo was adequate even on mountain inclines. Now I will say the turbo 4 had LOTS of engine failures, and they didn’t bother refining, its basically a “tune” on the new motor, YIKES
That’s exactly why I got the 4 cylinder myself. I live in the mountains and the v6 had to scream up very large hills. When the 4 cylinder barely was working at all.
VW better focus on Audi Porsche n Bentley, instead theyre taking the good stuff from those brands and turning themselves into a full blown luxury brand
I find it interesting in this day and age, but a petroleum-based fake wood is on the dashboard as opposed to the renewable resource of natural wood. We can always regrow trees and they are 100% natural. Petroleum-based plastics produce a lot of byproducts. And take forever to break down for recycling. The same can be said for the seats, again, petroleum products versus a natural cowhide. Cows are being used for food anyway, why not use their hides? 😎
Not with that claustrophobic 3rd row windows and lack of hybrid powertrains prevent it from the top spot. A Hybrid and new v6 powertrains will be coming to the next gen Palisade/Telluride siblings to compete with the Grand Highlander.
It shouldn't be an outrageous proposition for VW to compete with the Korean brands. VW has plants in Mexico rolling out their flagship models. And yet VW can't seem to calculate a profit and a good product from Hecho en Mexico.
I have a 2019 i bought new. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. I will never buy another one however. I'm not driving a little whiny 4 cylinder that can't get out of it's way until the turbo spools up. Nope. They ruined a good car. If I wanted a little whiny vw I would have bought the Tiguan. I'm thinking Honda Pilot next time.
Boy do I need to disagree about the Telluride and handling. The Kia drives like an absolute boat. Nice vehicle and all that but the body roll is awful.

Glad to hear that! Thanks! (PS: VW did not provide us with any trim examples with the standard system)
Wonderful looking suv, but what bothers me the most is why the hell does it idle so loudly? That shouldn't sound so harsh as a new suv? 😐
What is up with everyone ditching there v6 ‘s 50k+ is way too much for a turbo 4 very disappointing
The telluride has nothing to worry about and tbh nor does the grand highlander. Id rank both of them above the atlas
The Mazda CX-90 over this everyday....
One thing you guys don’t include are reliability stats based on any brands past records.
Gotta say, Car confections have improved a lot since 2021

It does not, unfortunately
What's the matter , your foot on the break peddle getting to tired?
The bad points of my VW Atlas 2024 are
You can’t put the seat heat ON at night in order to have a warm seat or steering once you start the engine at morning inside your house
Secondly
You can’t put the car on Eco mode permanently

NYS Route 28 is one of my favorites, ran a job over there some years ago. Try it again in the fall!🍂🍁🍂🍁
It's the same engine that works so well in the Audi Q5.

Good point. Most people these days tend to buy vehicles they can't afford
No one can afford these vehicles. This is why finance terms keep getting longer. GM offers/advertises 84 month options for everything
@@llcross04the point was that finance only that much amount that you can afford to payback without compromising your livelihood.
@@blinDTiger0.01usually that means buying a 5 year old or older car. That’s fact 💯
I think comparing it to Telluride is not fair.. This is in longer segment and true competition is cx90, grand highlander and traverse

Palisade has the wind noise problem unfortunately
I don't think the Palisade is that cheap anymore. Top model is going between $56 to $58k.
What about the resale value for VW atlas 2024 and Fuel economy
That drop off into the hood bay! 🫣
Why can't more companies do all safety systems standard. Makes no sense to not.
That initial acceleration looked painfully slow!
