Hello Jewells! We just got back from Iceland, and loved the beautiful open scenic roads-- AN AMAZING DREAM COME TRUE!! Although you are giving great advice about winter driving, we only currently have experience driving in Iceland in June (which based upon the potential stress of Icelandic winter driving, we may keep it that way). Although we opted to do our trip during the summer, we did opt to only rent a 4WD vehicle, since we wanted to be ready for any impulsive decisions to jump onto an F-Road. We were worried that a 2WD would limit us to roads that were only paved. As it turned out, by the end of our trip, we realized there was so much to see on the paved road routes that we never got to the F roads this trip 😂 ….but we still enjoyed the fact that we were 4WD READY if needed.
Wow
Lots of reaally good, common sensical advice in this video. It's the kind of stuff you probably wouldn't think about before going to Iceland, but would have to think about once you were there.
I just came back from Reykjavík last month for my birthday 🎂.It was a blast.I am planning to return in the summer.
Awesome!!
A few other things a car rental company told me: 1. Get in the habit of holding onto the car doors each time you enter and exit the vehicle. 2. Don’t make a right turn on a red light; it’s illegal. 3. Also, you have to have your headlights on at all times. Although driving in Reykjavik gave me some anxiety because of the narrower roads, overall, driving in Iceland is a lot of fun and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Yes to all of these, and thanks for sharing.
What is the reason for number 1?
@leothenomad5675 the winds get pretty strong. If you dont hold it it can whip open hard and damage your car or the car parked next to you.
@@Wonky-Donkey Okay, thank you.
Thank you for this video!!! I'm needed this vid.
I hope to be in Iceland this Summer, 24 hours of sunlight sounds so cool!
Also, as a young person (27) how is the dating scene??
I really want to meet some new people, it'll give me a reason to come back to Iceland, again and again, haha!
🎩🎩🎩🎩👌👌👌👌
You’re welcome. Most people use dating apps here. I’m not very familiar with the dating scene but can ask around about it.
Unrelated, but I watch your videos...where are you learning Icelandic? I'm trying to find a decent app or program but Icelandic is not offered much. Ideas?
Hello. I recommend checking out LinQ. You can get premium access to the Icelandic material for free through the app.
Thank you!!!@@AllThingsIceland
I'm coming to Iceland in April for my 3rd time in two years. How difficult is it for a retired American to move there? I love that place.
Yay for coming back to Iceland. I’m not sure of how difficult it is but I know of a person who has retired here and I have been meaning to interview her. Hope to bring that to video and the podcast soon.
That would be great!
Hello,
How is the dating scene in Iceland?
Hi. My experience with it is limited but I’ll find out. 😊
How is iceland like in April? Is it warmer then or is it still winter?
It’s warmer and spring in Iceland but you can still find snow on some roads, especially as you head north.
