I just bought a 2024 Chevrolet Trax LT, with three "packages" for my wife. We spent about $25,000.00 out the door. I have watched almost every video review of this car on You Tube. The negativism is amazing! Every negative comment says that they will buy other models in the class because this one is too "cheap", and will not last. What don't these people understand about MSRP prices between $20,000.00 and $25,000.00? Everyone looking to buy a new car in this class does not need or want to spend between 30 and 50 thousand dollars for a new car. We know that certain missing "luxury" features on the new Trax are available on other brands, but at what additional price? My wifes's previous car, a 2008 Chevy, had 60,000 miles on it when we traded it for the Trax. She does not have to worry about this Trax making it to 200,000 miles, nor does she need it to do 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. Our finances make this vehicle a perfect selection because of it's good looks and it's MANY other amazing features......not to mention it' s price. It is an amazing vehicle in today's market. Drive it yourself and make your own decision. Do not listen to the naysayers. I do not work for Chevy.
Interesting review. I'm surprised about the ride and handling comments. Now you drove the Activ trim with 18" wheels which most reviewers find handles best. I have a 2RS with 19" wheels and tires. There are no other differences mechanically. Now I came out of a 2018 Escape, but have driven many cars. The Trax handles well in my opinion. It's actually nimble, maybe your tester had preproduction gremlins? Yeah, the back seat isn't the greatest, but neither is a Kia Soul's. The Trax is the best value on the market right now and I think that kills some journalists, because it's a Chevy.
Why does it scare you? I read that a lot, yet I don't read where there are actual issues with it. It has been around long enough, and there are enough of them out there that if there were actual issues, we would be reading about them everywhere. The same engine is in the Trailblazer, along with the 1.3l 3 cylinder, so there are plenty of them on the road.
last week sold my 2009 saturn astra (original owner).waiting for my Trax to arrive. rear visibility on that was most likely similar to trax. i had no problem.i bought my mother an astra too. she never complained .

I need a cheap car heading into retirement however that engine scares me.
it has a lifetime warranty from the dealership on the power train as long as you follow your maintenance schedule.
