    • @Onychoprion27
      @Onychoprion27 6 років тому

      Chester Harde Space Engine procedurally generates planeta and stars, and lots of those will be more earth-like than the ones shown here. The ones in this video are actual planets and stars that we know about, though even then SE has to randomize various conditions, such as atmosphere thickness/composition, albedo, etc.

    Our planet is such a SWEET planet, that astronomers are just not finding planets like ours. we got a molten iron/nickel core, because 3.5 billion years ago two planets became one, and the molten metal went to the center and the lighter crap became the moon (very little metals). Mars is very "undense" as well. without a magnetic pole, most of the planet's atmosphere would blow AWY. SO FINDING goldy locks zone leaves out a "double planet" like ours and the moon, IN the goldy locks zone.Not likely out there, close enough to communicate with, as far as I'm concerned

    I think we need to be more open-minded when searching for life on exoplanets. We can't assume that because water is essential for life on earth, that it is the same everywhere in the universe. In fact, to some life forms throughout the universe, water might even be toxic. Now if we are only looking for a suitable future home for earthlings, then that is a different story of course, but I don't think that is what drives our curiosity.

  • @MAINFRAMELaboratories
    @MAINFRAMELaboratories 8 років тому

    I've actually studied 186-f, and I've come to the conclusion that if this planet does not have life, then I'm a giraffe. It has to have life. It's 1 degree colder than Earth, only 25% bigger, and only slightly less density.

    • @alexeyvlasenko6622
      @alexeyvlasenko6622 8 років тому

      It's not 100% certain. For example, the cloud top temperature on Venus is only a few degrees warmer than Earth's (we can't see the surface through the clouds, so there would be no way to determine the surface temperature from far away). Venus is only about 20% smaller than Earth (by mass) and has slightly less density. But Venus has too much atmosphere, making the surface far too hot to support life as we know it. 186-f could be the same way. We won't know until its atmospheric composition can be measured.

    • @fandomguy8025
      @fandomguy8025 8 років тому

      Yep. @CuffRox we wouldn't get that hot if earth and venus switched places. Too much volcanism killed venus.

    • @theredstonehive
      @theredstonehive 7 років тому

      +CuffRox There are a lot of values that you need to guess if it has life or not. There is more than just size and temperature.

      Top 3 Scary Things to Do in SpaceEngine
      1. Try landing on a Gas Giant, once you've entered the atmosphere, it'll usually flip your camera around and it's hard to escape, leading to a panic attack.
      2. Go into a Black Hole, I've tried it, but even I never was able to, it's too scary...
      3. Fly WAY out of the Milky Way and put the galaxy light emission really low, you'll have an extreme panic attack as you desperately try to go back to Earth while being in complete darkness.
      If you have a system powerful enough, I suggest you download the game (it's free) and try these things. This engine is the scariest game I've played, because it doesn't try to be horror, you just attack yourself psychologically.

    • @kmsthanks
      @kmsthanks 7 років тому +1

      I feel the same. Only a little part of the universe is scary to me. I believe I find it sometimes terrifying because it's much too unknown, and you can get trapped. I'll elaborate on my "Top 3 Scary Things to Do in SpaceEngine" reply (look above). 1: Gas Giants. They have no definite surface, it's just a sphere of gas that has an insane amount of gravity and pressure. Even with the ability to fly anywhere, you can easily get lost in Gas. That camera flip usually happens, and it does NOT help the situation. 2: The problem with Blacks Holes are very similar with the Gas Giants that was mentioned. Except, it has an entirely new elements: Darkness, Loneliness and the Unknown. So much information about Black Holes are just theories, but even the Event Horizon cannot be put to an explanation. 3: You should try this one. This one actually fucking gave me a slight panic attack. As soon as I wasn't fast enough to type in "Earth" to travel back, I immediately pressed "Alt+F4". The sense of overwhelming loneliness is expressed here, which is saying something since I'm not even remotely afraid of loneliness. After lowering the galaxy light emissions, all you'll see is complete darkness, in which you'll need an EXACT direction of the Milky Way to ever see light again. You are so far from all known life, no one will ever have a chance to save you. I noted that Earth or the Sun seems to be the only place I travel to if I'm lost, since it's the only place that is not empty and unknown. If only I could really emphasize the word "unknown" more clearly, I hate it. These are only some the reasons, most of the others are why I love Space. And surprisingly, the fact that Space IS so unknown is ALSO why I love it.

    • @trulyinfamous

      Snipabee I feel amazed by space. You have to realise the truth about it before you can truly realise the beauty of it. We are insignificant in the universe, and as Carl Sagan once said, "The universe does not need to conform to human ambition."

However hard you try u cant find a better place than Earth , so respect it and take care of it as long as u can , bacause this sort of mentality that ooohhh look there might be another planet like earth that is thousands of light years away , it does not mean that you start abusing earth because right now we cant even get to mars forget about the planets light years away just respect the planet earth its our home and has given us life.
