My World Music teacher says that written music allows the performer to add nuance but forbids them to violate the spirit of the music. I am going into the next class armed with this. I'm not sure what my message is (What Would Wolfgang Do?), so let's see what happens. Thank you for posting this.
This guy surely must of deserved to win that competition, not only because its some ragtime edition, he was taking something that was old but good, putting his own talent into that and his own work, and not many people can do that, and he litterally made a whole meaning to that was so creative, he is creative and talented oh yes, well done
Rusell Wilson deserved to win in my opinion search him up on yt if you havent seen him he plays ragtime aswell he plays " When the saints go marching in "
The rules of the competition state that pieces must have been written prior to 1939. In response to the inquiry on whether Fur Elise by Beethoven met the criteria for the contest, the gentleman on the right commented: "certainly old enough" rather than "She's certainly old enough" indicating that the piece met the date requirement. It was not meant to be a pervy comment.
omg it sounds like a silly cartoony bar fight in a saloon while the protagonist and villain are having a showdown in one of those old movies in this style
Interesting music & culture exchanges, N & S Americans play or sing German mostly classical 2)!Germans borrow US , Caribbean S An. urban popular songs musics & dances. In urban popular & some rural folk dances, N & S Am & NE Europe, etc., all. borrow Austrian German Swiss folk faces famous & useful arm turns & arm positions..

I bet Ludwig is boogieing in his grave.
Don't know about Elise.
Sometimes I randomly rememeber old videos I’ve watched and rewatch them. That’s why I’m back.
“This is an incredible masterpiece, oh yes. Killer-diller, in fact.” - Fats Waller
I watched this way back when it came out and just had to listen 4 times in a row.. this is actually timeless 👏
How many times have you listened to this?
Yes.
Génial cet arrangement,et sans jamais perdre l’original !!! Chapeau si je peux dire monsieur Ethan Ulsan 🎉

Hello Electron K. Thank you so much for doing this upload and keeping this piece out there. Fantastic, thanks!
Thank you for reupload
I love the way Ethan gives this piece a special flare! Far more exciting than the others who play this.
I wonder why the original account was removed.
This should be a video stickie for UA-cams main page
Brilliant!
I can smell the bathtub gin coming out from the Speak easy door!
Far beyond super cool. What talent...!

@Jommejom no bitch I don't go around reading every description, a simple "it's in the description" would have sufficed

I fear nothing, but that chair, it terrifies me
Gangsta classical ragtime...What the hell is there not to love...?
Awesome, thank you.
When you can't shake off that Rag-Knack, no matter how much you scratch the ivories.

Ragtime is the best
How was it; did he win with this arrangement?
yeah, I won $1,000 and got my name on the old-time trophy. :-)
Is this improvised?
*This will never grow old!* (Not to me, anyway) 🤓
I bought the sheet music from Ethan but it doesn't fully match.
dude, it totally matches!
I went on ahead and downloaded this just in case they take it off again
I can hear Randy Newman singing all over this.
Here after seeing Bruce Liu’s performance
Rush E rag
Harks back to the days when pianos looked like cash machines, and guys dressed like they were bank robbers! Great music, even so😉
BOSS MODE PIANO
POV: You're here for something...
Yes... A music hw....
Yes, something we don't want in school, answering activity :)
Beetoveen would be jealous
The second movement of Beethoven’s 32nd sonata predicts ragtime by like 100 years.
