- They have taken the bricks and the grid of walls. We have researched gates but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes...pumpjacks, pumpjacks in the deep. We Factorio out. The biters and spitters and worms move in the dark. We Factorio out. They are coming.

Fun fact about the robots:
Robot "mining" was added by popular request, which is not possible in vanilla factorio with soft-mods. So the solution is as followed:
1) when the rock is mined by the bot, empty the inventory and "destroy" the rock
2) place a new rock with the same health minus the robot damage
3) mark for deconstruction
This is all done in the same game update (tick)
It seems that 0.17.x improved bot behavior because it was even worse, where bots would swap which rock they would go next, meaning that instead of mining, they'd spent 95% of their time flying to a different rock. Right now it seems that they at least focus on a single rock. With this behavior, the mining damage should probably be increased.
it got about 20% cooler then ;-)
It's a shame we told him about Hydra, or were nice enough to turn it off for him :P
It's kinda ironic how you're always low on stone while surrounded by it. Much like being stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean.
But ur not short on water in Seablock
@@creature_of_fur I was talking about real life - all that water around you and none of it drinkable.
and all that sand and weed to filter the salt water, and none of it registering on the brain of the stranded man as filtration elements.
man, you sure find a problem to fit every solution!
to robo-demolish a large area, dig a grid first to expose as much perimeter as possible and then the robots can dissolve it much faster
And having those grid corridors is perfect for adding the walls to support the ceiling. Win+win!
Man that space suit must be really good at filtering out all the CO2 you're pumping into the air.....
*carbon monoxide
Both
it has a box lithium filter plugged into a round fixture via a waste hose held together by cardboard and duct tape.
the wonders of spacepunk engineering.
whenever using lasers, place battery banks, so you can extend your peak power availability to withstand intermittent firing, without needing more base production.
Cheers for these videos dude! You're super entertaining, keep up the great work!
Is the sound desynchronised around 19:00 or is it only my computer?
Nah, looks like a video clip got misplaced. It starts just after 16:55 and lasts till just before 19:55
I think its desynced
yeah last half of the video was noticably desynced
The desync is clearest for the video at 17:44 -- its sound is almost 1 minute late, at 18:30 :-B
PS As Jonathan said, it's between the cuts at 17:00 and 19:54 .
seems the audio and video split around 19:00? your talking about things you did half a minute ago.
I normally don't comment on videos. I found Zisteau on a wild search of youtube. The one thing that made me keep around, was the amount of effort given to each and every video. Will you look stop for a moment, and enjoy this intro? Beautiful work.
With stone under the walls you can increase the gap between each wall by one. With refined concrete you can increase the gap by another one again.
i cant tell what the description of the video is referencing but it sounds familiar
oh it was lotr
_"we have barred the gates but doubt if…we can hold them long. If there is…no escape it will be a horrible fate to suffer, but I shall hold."_
_"..We cannot get out. We cannot get out. They have taken the bridge and Second Hall. Frár and Lóni and Náli fell there bravely while the rest retreated to the Chamber of…Mazarbul. We are still ho{ldin}g...but hope …Óin's party went five days ago but today only four returned. The pool is up to the wall at West-gate. The Watcher in the Water took Óin--we cannot get out. The end comes soon. We hear drums, drums in the deep. They are coming."_
Eh?
Great series so far Zisteau, thanks for sharing it with us =)
Looking forward to every episode. Just like the other Factorio series you have made :D
I enjoy the exploring/ clearing areas and the mining parts
I guess the mod made it so the spawned stones dont actually give you stone....odd choice...you'd think that would be the only resource you'd have in abundance.
Looks like you should maybe be switching back or doing a prioritized merge with coal for your fuel needs with boilers and smelters to prevent backups for your other ores
Extruded dough is strong with this one. And i love it.
This is some glorious glorious spaghetti
Would be interesting to see you using some train wagons as a pass-through method of sorting ores.
random ores inserted in one side into a train wagon with filtered slots for each ore and outputting with filtered stack inserters.
Another great series Zisteau, can't wait to watch it!
Just had a thought; how are you going to launch a rocket if you're underground? The ceiling of solid rock would seem to be an obstacle to the endgame.
think of it as one of those drill things from the big matrix movie battle. it'll drill up to the surface then launch
The rocket silo uses so much concrete to build because it actually makes a vertical tunnel to the surface :D
might i suggest the ammoloader mod? it automatically refills your turrets with ammo and keeps them stocked. so no more checking and babysitting turrets.
There's a mod , name eludes me atm, but it has loaders,,chests that fits in the belts, which allows you to store excess of materials without having a HUGE storage area. Also loads belts on both sides.
Perhaps the bucket miner mod Will also be a great space saver as well as faster clearing out of the ore patches, albeit with a high power costs.
Found the name, it's deadlock stacking mod which solves the storage.
And make sure that you grab the original bucket wheel mod, there's a fork mod that has a border marking added, but he acted like a complete dick to the original guy which wasn't a great interaction.
Maybe mining would be faster if you only mine single tile wide strips where the concrete beams will later sit, let robots fill in the beams, then removing the remaining stone? That way you won't need to manually place any beams and can just mine the while time.
I was thinking the same thing. Like making a strip mine and letting the robots clear out all the in between bits as you work on other things
Is it possible to modify the range of the support the walls give you? The distance set at what you're using in this pack seems a bit cramped. Maybe you would benefit from accumulator banks, if you can get them somehow?
I hate to be "that guy", but are you using the copy and paste tools? Or the upgrade planner?
Yeah it seem like he hasn't read any patch notes of seen any major patch feature walkthroughs after he got back and plays 0.17 as if it was 0.15.
lol a coin in the water that's a funny spot for a coin
I'm "DIGGING" the new intro lol
hey Z, any plan to play terarria with etho again?
You have one steel furnace in the iron smelting that isn’t receiving any ore zisteau
Why buffering coal when you can prioritise the excess coal to feed your boilers instead of solid fuel?
Should of used the Concreap mod for this play though, would of made all the robots place down best flooring automatically and mining drone mod would be great too xD
16:20 just one thing: Upgrade planner!!!!!!!
I'd like to point out something unrelated to the video, but still important...You said you would play subnautica again if they had extra content right?... Zisteau plays Subnautica below zero?
He's waiting for the full game before playing that one
I see...
I tried asking on the discord for diggy but found no answers so ill ask here does anyone know how he made the dig speed increase. I know its in the config I just can find out which one effects it.
Can some one explain why he put a lot of wall in the base? beside for measure.
if you're high on coal, priortize it over solid fuel.
IIRC, can't you automatically sell to the market? That would be one way to solve the sorting system backing up.
I like how you cut your videos. They aren´t just hours of gameplay, there´s content!
Why did you not use the upgrade planner when you upgraded the iron smelting belts?
Just realized you didn't have the power armour at that point
is there beeping around 5:40 or am i hearing things
Schrödinger's cave?
hello i wounder what you have riten in config to get axe speed the same as yours. i have troble whit getinge it right.
Wich visual mod are u using? Its seems nice
I do wonder how you will launch a rocket since you are in a cave
with *Magic* =P
The rocket is powerful enough to blast straight through the roof of the cave into space
very early, but let's see what we've got going on this episode!
Ugh why didn't you use a train 10:30 would have speed up the production.
Does anyone have a copy of the lua file with the single player mining speed modified? Every time I try to do it, the mining speed isn't affected if I comment the other single player cheats out. I'm not sure what's going.
I had two config files - scenarios/Diggy/config.lua and scenarios/Diggy/map_gen/maps/diggy/config.lua.
In the first file I set _CHEATS = true. Then, the desired player mining speed in the second file.
Dude, I thought you had stopped making videos, but turns out I was unsubscribed (?) . Glad twitter is a thing!
Commentary around 19:00 is not in sync with the video.
Holly balls, caught the video at 3 views and 2 likes, darn
Love you Z, but for some reason this series isnt doing it for me even though I have watched all the other factorio series you have made. Im not sure why :/
Anutha one
Dog
I think Z will be doing coal liquifecation.
Also, for mining with bots. could you do manual strip mining , then set up roboports at the mouth of each one, thean youll have TONS of surface area for the bots to pick up automatically while you go do other things. even if its slow, the whole idea is to reveal as many rock surfaces as possible for the bots. it should speed things up a lot until you get mining productivity.
