Maldita Castilla (PC) - Full Playthrough (No Death, Best Ending)

- A great platformer made by indie developer Locomalito. This game is free. You can get it here: www.locomalito....
This game is inspired by Ghost'n'Goblins series but has much darker atmosphere. I really recommend everyone who loves old games to play this one. This run is completed without dying. Also I found all major secrets to get the best ending. I hope you like this playthrough.
For the glory of the arcade times! :)
"He who turn friends into foes and girls into beasts! Prepare to meet my steel!"
Don Ramiro, Castilla, 1081 AD.
It’s kinda crazy for me to know that this was apparently made in 2012, when most modern games that try to look old-school (I. E. Shovel Knight) don’t look old school at all, and when I first saw this, I was actually convinced that it was an old game made for DOS or something.
Yeah, I imagined this was from the early 90s at most. While he didn't probably obey all of the little limitations from then, he did do a perfect recreation of just about everything else.
Same! I legit thought it was one for those obscure arcade games you'd find on MAME!
And yeah, I agree, a LOT of indie games that try to be "retro" don't really look retro at all beyond them having pixel art.
I thought it was a Genesis game I never saw before, another game that does this well is Soul of Dracula
The giant statue in the background during the 'ancient souls' boss fight is called the 'lady of elx', it's a real bust, from pre-roman spain, possibly the goddess Tanit, but her identity remains entirely unknown and unconfirmed.
Locomalito is the only one who can pull of clones of games and get away with it, for the simple reason that his games are so damn incredibly cool and inspired! He puts attention to detail in the smallest things, that separate his games as works of art! For example right at the start where the knight jumps off the cart and raises his sword, while there's a lightning and thunder in the background! That certainly didn't come off ghost 'n' goblins!
+Gun-bunny
You are absotootely correct! I just came across this game today and am impressed by the graphics, obviously inspired by GnG, but it stands on its own as a great game, and the artwork is top notch pixel style.
I laughed at "Amadis de Gaula best book ever" Locomalito knows his shit!
This is one of the greatest tributes to the arcade times, and that ending theme where he rode in the moonlight, perfectly executed!!!
21:54 Because even during the most dangerous quests, there's always time to look for Smurf Village.
And its one of the requirements for the best ending.
This looks magnificent! You can both see and feel the passion put into this title. Bravo!
And the fact its free is the cherry on top incredible job by the creators actually its inspiring almost makes me want to start making games.
Its not that easy to make a game, its not something you can just jump and do.
"They will pay for this. I swear!". That was pretty cool.
+angantyr86 it was
a spiritual successor of ghost and goblin I see.... Shame on you Capcom
The "prepare to die" skeleton trumpeter from the sky at 39:50. How cool is that!
Looks like a hybrid between ghost n goblins and classic castlevania! I love it and I wonder why I never heard of this game..
Very good game. Congrats to Locomalito for it. Awesome playtrough!!!
Is there anyone else watching this felt the urge to destroy the candles?
LOL yeah reminded me too much about castlevania
33:10 Gotta be one of the most Metal levels in video game history.
First time I ever heard about this game and loved it. BTW, second boss is Nuberu, Locomalito must be from Asturias (Nuberu is a mythological creature from that specific region). :P
He is from Malaga,Andalucia

Seeing this game on most modern platforms is really amazing, definitely worth the money to get one of the portable ones like the switch and ps vita, and the others are good for giving some well deserved money to the developer. Glory to the arcade days!
That music. Really captures the FM Synth of the 90s Arcade machines and Sega Megadrive/Genesis.
All those years of playing Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts really prepped me for this game.
Great run on this. I’m just discovering these two games. This one and the castlevania esque one. I’ve been playing super hydorah for a while now on my switch. I should have known. This guy has been busy. Now I know. I don’t know why I didn’t look more into it. I tried searching about Thomas Happ after Axiom Verge and Yacht Club after shovel knight. I need to stay on top of things like this.
This was all a rabbit hole after finding out about the Lecarde Chronicles... lol glad I went down it.
That final boss is angry as hell! He stands up, destroys the table and... does nothing except some dumb magic tricks until he dies. This is pure power!
great game damn such skill and a tribute to ghost and goblins bravo whoever made this game its not easy to make a game like this it takes dedication
Que juego tan CHINGON la neta se lucieron con su trabajo,se la RIFARON usando de base GHOULS N´GHOSTS pero bien CABRON su contenid,GRACIAS por este video y los creadores de este juego que lo hicieron posible.
triple A companies can learn a thing or 2 from the indies
I couldn’t remember the name of this game, I’m glad I finally found it after all these years.
I LITERALLY just did the same thing lol
Thank you for video! Cursed Castilla is a good looking game delivering the retro atmosphere of the 80’s arcade fantasy classics like Ghosts n’ Goblins. I like the solid storyline, variable enemies, interesting weapons and upgrades, simple and responsive controls and nice retro audiovisuals. As for me, there are some flaws that I could not get over - the difficulty that is rather punishing than challenging, the limitation to have just one weapon at the moment, losing all upgrades when die and the cooldown after three shots that does not belong to such frenetic action as Cursed Castilla is.
This game is awesome from start to finish.
Adoro esta alma retrô da jogabilidade e gráficos e a trilha sonora semelhante aos fliperamas que eram feitas com o chip YM2151!!
That guy seems awfully cheerful for someone who just saw his friends (and the girl) die horribly.
EPIC GAME
A MODERN MASTER PIECE
This is one of the best Genesis titles I've ever seen. ^_-
How the hell people figured out where the 5th Moura's tear is? I have been searching that forest for hours and never thought it would be hidden in that tree...
+Pixelize45
It was the last one I found. But as I played the game more - I soon started to crouch under or shoot anything even remotely resembling a cross since almost every one of those has a secret. Took a while to even see it on that tree, though.
I saw it on the tree my first time beating the game. Never thought to crouch at it. I shot at it, nothing happened. Moved on.
I like this game more than Ghost and Goblins. And that is saying a lot. 😀
Very nice. I stopped the video after the woods level and you were causing sibling rivalry because of the cursed Brothers in Arms of yours attacking you. "They will pay! I only got that far when the game crashed/froze on me after pressing ESC to pause, and had to start over. Was looking thorough here to see some of your skills.
I've watched a few of your play throughs. Very good. I subscribed! Yay! Nice Going.
WHAT A GRRRRREAT GAME, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT UNTIL NOW, REMINDS ME OF GHOST N GOBLEMS, ONLY BETTER,THANKS FOR POSTING IT. SINCERLY MIKE BERTSCH.
I had zero idea about this and mindlessly clicked it, assuming it was an arcade game. o.O Good job, dev(s).
People talk about the Ghouls n Ghosts and Castlevania and Rygar influences, and I certainly see those, but for some reason this game makes me think of Wardner too.
Ah well, guess I'm just crazy.
Fantástico. Un trabajo cuidado y con innegables guiños al menos a mí factor nostalgia. Imprescindible. Ahora a 6€ en Xbox Store... Quedan 24 horas. ¡Gracias por vuestro esfuerzo!
Retro done right
For God and Castile!
¡Por Dios y por Castilla!
Gryzor30 did the music? Sounds just like a stereo CPS SYSTEM 1 cabinet game. Wasnt "Gryzor" the NES game Contras' other name in Europe or something?
Whoa! So Chapter VI (the final stage) is almost like a "Dark World" of the hero's world.
I did not know this came out in 2012, I thought it was made in the late 80s early 90s.
Nice playthrough fella!
But can Don Ramiro beat Arthur (from Super Ghouls & Ghosts/Cho Makaimura) in an arm-wrestling match?
Arthur boi. He’s more skilled in the arts of the Lance throwing and Lightning throwing. And can throw a mean chaotic Psycho Cannon. ⚡️☄️
This looks fantastic!!
INCREDIBLE! CONGRATULATIONS! VERY BEAUTIFULL!! , ABSOLUTLY
Those lions at 0:49 remind me of Finland Coat of Arms, but without swords.
Took 36 minutes for someone to hit this dude.🤯 and the game looks hard as f
¡¡¡¡¡ POR DIOSH, CASHTILLA Y LOSH TIEMPOSH DE LASH MAQUINITASH !!!!!!!!!!! OOOLLLEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There’s the Lady of Elche in the background of the Guardian Soul Boss!!! Amazing !!!
Arek there's a secret life here 7:58 in the center window of the windmill;)
Excelente juego
Me saco el sombrero....tiene todo...
Dificultad jugabilidad niveles.es muy estilo Ghost n Goblins con algo de castlevania y muy buena banda sonora.podria haber tenido un final un poco mas elaborado.pero......genial..Os felicito creadores
wow this looks and sounds great! An answer to my video game cravings,, why have I never heard about this? smh
Isn’t it weird how Castlevania all started around 1096 A.D.? The time where fiction Europe was mysteriously attacked by demons and whatnot?
And that Ghosts’ n’ Goblins was set around the turn of the second millennium, around the same time too?
Coincidence? Anyway, kudos on those in this comment section that know of the GnG franchise! I’m not the only one that knows of its success and lore! 😭
Gem of videogames!
This game looks like something I would definitely play! I have one criticism, but it's not bad...… (To the maker and designers, ) stage two was very fast paced, and I'm glad you didn't change the music for the boss, though you could have if you wanted to. But my criticism comes from the question of why their weren't more riding stages ( though the boat ride does make up for that. More stages where the guys (Mendoza and co.) help fight off assailants? Would have also been nice to see the spirits of your fallen comrades thanking you in the end. What made them to where you have to fight them, anyways? Moura? the demon plants, or did something take them out and just use their corpses as puppets? All in all, I'm very impressed with this game. It goes a step beyond what Super Ghouls and Ghosts did, what with the final stage, taking you out of this dimension and the land of evil spirits and demons. The final boss is like " Not bad, You've done what no mortal has done and bested my demon council! Congratulations you now have my full attention.... And so you shall have the distinct honor of being slaughtered by me in battle.
I'm surprised, Comte Estruch (a Catalan nobleman, whose life inspired the oldest vampire tale in Europe, centuries before Dracula) isn't in the game as a boss.
Wow never heard about it but I'll definitely look it up. It's a good reason for a sequel or another game based on Spanish myths though :)
Arthur Belmont
Oh, my God! They killed Quesada!
Great graphics, very reminiscent of the CPS-1, System 16 machines and the Mega Drive and PC Engine consoles. The character is called "Ramiro", but he looks just like El Cid. It would be wonderful if it were ported to a homebrew project for a 16-bit console, if it hasn't already been, as I didn't know about this game.
Crazy spooky skeletons dancing XD
A Spanish version of Ghosts and Goblins
"Endless Bazzles Lefz behind a sea of Dain."
When you try to make a no damage run but get hit and you say fuck it and change the name to a no death run.
the game indeed well built, compliments to the author
A very good clone indeed.
Is it just me, or the first Boss, Zarrampla, has the same face as Milhouse? LOL.
Anyway, nice gamplay.
The game looks great, but probably the final boss would be been hardest , it looked like it was hardest to fight against the entire army than against the demon commanding them
If this is accurate, the king portayed in the game is Alfonso VI.
ok call me crazy but what the heck is that naked zombie in town doing??? did i see right??
This looks like a good game!
this game is super hard on teh xbox version cause it has more levels and bosses i think
awesome game
Not sure if anyone will respond to this, but why don't you pick up some items? Like the item after the first boss?
Because you can only carry one item at a time. Shield (+1 HP), flower (fairy that shoots forward) or winged boots (higher jump). Most of the time shield is the most useful so it's not wise to replace it unless necessary.
the level where you climb up and dodge shooting faces is a fucking sin! why is it so impossible?! i have tried 7 - 11 times and can't get past it!
Mendoza and Don Diego? LOL someone was a fan of Zorro...
Rock around Spain osric owen godwyn odo edwin these ones for exemple
What do you mean
The japanese samurai "Bob" lol.
Exactly, I definitely agree with you. The creatures, characters and backgrounds definitely make it feel like you are in medieval Spain. It really makes it feel different from Ghosts n' Goblins thanks to that.
+Rock around Spain this game is cool because its setting is so unique. I mean what other dark fantasy game takes place in christian kingdom of castilla during the reconquista? :p
You can even see a moor and a christian soldier battling during the intro
How do you get this resolution on PC? My game looks "blocky" in comparison.
Dude my game is a bit different .. at 10:40 i have a fireball shooting monster instead of a henchman ... also you make me look like a freaking NOOB .... :-P
Variant of Ghouls and Ghosts
Tiene distintas rutas el jueg?
Ty for share , greets
oh my god FUUUUCCCCCCKKK this game.
floatingkid I finished the game with like 70 continues which is about 210 deaths it was so fucking hard
清々しいほど大魔界村だ
Wow cool game cool playthrough!!!!
is it MAME?
44:02 rondo of blood reference
Not really, it's closer to the intro to Super Ghosts n' Goblins.
Donde lo puedo conseguir
Wait, How Do You Get The Second Moura's Tear???
Second one is hidden in a chest under first windmill. Can't remember for sure but it might be different in EX version.
old school sega master system music
someone should put this on an snes or genesis cart.
33:10This area look like the hell.
o rly?
@@spidermacho123 yem
I don’t even know how to start the game
even kids 3 year old can finished this game easy as squeezing paper.
Had this been the Witcher, Don would have f’d Moura as soon as she disrobed.
If you like this game give a try to the last Locomalito´s game, imagine Castlevania in ancient Greece: ua-cam.com/video/pwDf8zSCD1M/v-deo.html
Ghuls and goblins?
Thought this was just a ghouls n ghosts ripoff. I decided to watch more, and it's definitely inspired, but a game of it's own. I heavily appreciate the Genesis sound effects, felt like altered beast in a few spots.
