I just bought an epiphone inspired by Gibson explorer. Thing is stunning and plays amazingly. The quality upgrade on the newer epiphones is truly impressive
Gibsons new owners are doing the epiphone name justice. This is especially true with the high end models like the Joe bonamassa black beauty not only a great guitar but one the most accurate 58 there is out there, a surefire instant classic.
I can confirm. Got my Bonamassa last year and apart from the feel of the poly finish, it's just as good as my 2019 Gibson LP Standard 50s, which is an excellent guitar. The Bonamassa just needed a lil more setup out of the box.
I have an ‘08 Epi LP Standard that’s at least as good a guitar as the 1976 Gibson SG Standard that I bought in high school. I’ve said it before, but guitar beginners have options now that are beyond my wildest teen-age dreams. I still have idle dreams of buying the Gibson LP Standard that I lusted after back then, but no one needs to buy an expensive Gibson, Fender, or PRS to have a playable axe these days.
I have an late 80s Epiphone Les Paul Custom Black Beauty 3, left hand, and it plays great, awesome tone and stays in tune, which the Gibson's of that era can't consistently claim.
2019 I treated myself to a new guitar, an Epi LP standard with everything, great pickups push pull pickup selectors just a beautiful guitar. The first had sharp frets that were unexceptable, the second one the sent me was a return from another customer. I told them I was considering going to another dealer and wanted to try an Epiphone SG as I wanted something lighter too. They sent a lovely guitar the seemed to have been setup nicely and no flaws I really loved this guitar and played it but my fingers started giving me problems. I was having a hard time forming chords, then I had a heart attack and was hospitalized for almost three months. I bugged every Doc that came in about fixing my hands ,that’s all I wanted ,screw my heart. I had surgery on both elbows and hands this year 2021 with a 50/50 chance of it working. It had to do with the Ulner nerve that effects feelings, well it didn’t work so I’m going to sell this unplaced guitar and case this winter along with amps, effects and other guitars. I’ll try playing bass I guess which I have and have played for years. Please try this Epi SG, it’s the best guitar ive bought and I really can’t see another $1400 for a Gibson which are great but the money manners these days. You won’t be let down !
Killin' it as usual . Love me some Lemmo . SGs are the coolest looking guitars on earth . Got an Epi SG Special ; cheapest one they make and it sounds great .
Agreed. I have a 96' Epi Les Paul made in Korea, literally played that thing through all of HS, college and afterwards. Tried every tuning you can imagine, never made any truss rod adjustments, nothing. Never needed it. Didn't even take it for a setup until 20 years after I bought it when a few bends started fretting out. When the guy took the goop from my fingers off the fretboard it looked brand new. This year I finally got the pickup switch replaced after that crapped out. But in that time frame, I played multiple Gibsons, some were better players but definitely not all. My first electric, still have it and use it frequently. Sustain for days as well.
Great playing. I can really hear early Carlos Santana in that first jam. I have a 61 cherry without the vibrola. Fantastic guitar. Edit: I wrote that comment before listening on and hearing Incident at Neshabaur (Inspired by...). Great work Lemmo.
Its veneered top and back. That's why it looks so nice. Who knows how many pieces are under that. It does sound good though. Nice playing Lemmo. This was a good Lemmo demo. I think the Meastro vibrola adds a resonance to them. I prefer it.
I have two Epis. Both are excellent guitars. One is a John Lee Hooker signed Boogieman Sheraton 2 (107 of 220) I bought 20 years at Mars Music in Austin. It is such a sweet guitar. I don't miss an episode of your Guitar of the Day!
I had one and sold it, they’re excellent players to be sure. I sold mine more for aesthetic reasons the neck was a different shade of red compared to the body. I also wasn’t a fan of the veneer on the body, the Vibrola arm also is slightly different compared to true vintage Maestro equipped SGs. At the end of the day the instrument didn’t speak to me. But it certainly was a good guitar.
The new Epiphone "Inspired by Gibson" Series are amazing vfm! (As are the new Squier "Classic Vibe" Series. We are living in a Golden Age of affordable guitars)
I believe they have veneered tops on the Epi’s. The Trogly YT Channel did a show and when you look at two of the same models the wood grain is the same. Good playing Mike.
@@patrickryan3123 Yep, they have been using the veneers on the Epis SG's for so many years, but many people only strated noticing them after the newer models came out a couple years ago.

i recently picked up the standard in alpine white used at my local GC, it looked, felt and sounds better than the SG modern i had. i also lucked out that the previous owner installed locking tuners. then after doing some more research and finding out that these are all part of the inspired by Gibson line. They're the closest to Gibson you can get for the price (USD-$499 [new] got mine used 9.8/10 for $399) also can't forget the plugnplay electronics, no need to solder anything, so upgrading to the probuckers was a breeze.

nice, so i have no clue about guitars, only played a little on acoustic, but can guitars like this be used in all kinds of genres or are they specifically "made" for this kind of music?
Epiphone 2019 exclusive deluxe limited Run g400 Sg and the 2021 Epiphone Custom Modern figured and prophecy Models incredible and the best hands down...

Hell if they'd release one in White or Ebony I'd definitely pick one up and upgrade some of the hardware and pickups.

It would have looked better and more natural all mahogany if they didn't put a cheap looking vinear on top... but other than that great guitar. I own mostly high end guitars but when I played an epiphone 335 figured I was sold and bought one instead of the Gibson 335. I'm curious to try one of these to see how it stacks up to the real thing in terms of feel and tone. I tried a prophecy and it was very well constructed and sounded great... but didn't feel like a real Gibson SG in the hands and neck dove much more oddly...
I bought the Epiphone JB firebird 1 in tobacco burst when they first came out and its a great guitar. At the time I had a 2001 Gibson Firebird 5 which I sold because I prefered the Epiphone also I'm no fan of JB but bought the Firebird because its not flash and its I believe the best model in the Firebird range. I had a 7 back in 2001 but really just to much hardware on it killing the tone a little.
Obviously vintage/rare guitars are cool but it is dope to see Lemmo play stuff your everyday guitarist would have
At this point I’d watch him play mario cart for hours
the first jam is probably one of his best and most melodic rhythm driven jams ever, amazing santana inspirations are heard too! great!
@ROGN I think it was more allman bros than santana nice playing
