You were absolutely right, I replaced Xingqiu in my Hyperbloom team because of this video. Fischl - Kuki - Childe - Nahida and made my abyss easier because I can just move him over to my Yoimiya team for this ridiculous Abyss that I finally fully 3 starred.
I really like how his riptide gets stronger when hes fighting more enemies, it’s like hes gaining more excitement for the fight and that in turn makes him stronger.
As a childe main since the beginning of time, i say this guy won't age, his kit will only age like fine wine as more broken supports and reaction comps come out cause of his somewhat decent 1v1 damage, crazy ass multi target damage and really good hydro application.
Same, I never got bored of childe since 1.1 and until this day, is one of my strongest comp in my team with xiangling, kazuha and bennett. And the riptide, man it’s satisfying

There´s Taser, permafreeze, overbloom, burgeon, there may be even more that i´m not aware of but man, childe has so many ways to utilize his kit optimally, i´m glad i got him in his 2ndo rerun (I tried getting him when he 1st came out but got mona instead ):), i have been enjoying him ever since then
Childe main since 1.4 🤝 his uptime was difficult to manage for me at first, but now I've became one with the love machine and his cooldowns are no longer a problem as long as you know how to rotate your team
OG Childe Main too, but I have to say, Childe might start seeing some awkward situations when Fontaine meta actually steers towards HP meta. His hydro app will still be useful nonetheless.
Hoyo really nailed Childe's gameplay considering he's a 1.1 5*. He is technical not in a micro sense like Hu Tao (although he has some micro optimizations here and there), but in a macro sense. He is a team player, teaching the importance of building his teammates alongside him and learning rotations. His comps offer a lot of flexibility, usually ending up playing differently depending on the combat scenario. Definitely a great pull for those looking into characters that lean into macro and skill expression.
@@Jinx07 i got childe by accident because my gambling and I was saving pity for raiden since I hade yae miko but yeaa....I got childe now so vape team for story then haha....still childe seems fun to play tho I need to farm the oceanid boss and grind deep of sea set but I am not very mad on my lost still my artifacts are a mess and my time wasted on electro bird and handgards are for nothing 😄 still childe is childe less people have him so thats a up for me
as a childe main a tip i have to help manage his cooldowns is to watch for your other team member's skill/burst durations, when they expire its a pretty good indication that its time to switch out and restart the rotation :)
I don't understand why the English community still underrates Childe so much, in fact he's the most rewarding character in terms of proper gameplay/execution.
@@nobodycares2164 but this happens since 2020 lmao , community hates Childe because of three reasons: - His E's Cooldown - His Boss Fight (people wants his kit to be like his boss fight, also because his boss fight can be hard if your team sucks) - Community itself, there are a lot of comics, memes and random content where people makes Childe dirty and people somehow thinks that is canon, one example is that Ganyu x Childe comic)
As a proud Childe main I approve of this message. I build all my teams around this man and he is honestly a lot more versatile than most people would expect. I am currently having a blast using him with Yae, Kokomi (bennet or dendro traveler are sometimes slotted in here), and Kazuha. His passive "master of weaponry" is probably the most unique and powerful one in-game. He and I are also happily married
@@EdDrow I've always enjoyed the added +1 on everyone's normal attacks but I guess its not really necessary or game breaking. It is more exciting and unique than everyone else's though imo. Who needs another character for exploration rewards or for crafting?
Childe was my first limited 5 star I got him accidentally without understanding how pity and stuff worked at the time and I honestly don't regret it...
Me too. I pulled for him cause I thought he looked cool lol…but turns out that his kit is very rewarding and now he’s the strongest DPS on my account. I thought that I’d reward him back so I’m trying to get polar star for him this rerun 😅
Same happened here. I got him at 32 pity as my second limited 5☆ ever (1st one being my accidental Nahida at 13 pity) and at the time I didnt really care about rotations as that wasnt necassary for the overworld I really love his playstyle, tho it can indeed be a pain if you let his cooldown go up too high. Also I realy need Kazuha cuz I lack the cc to group enemies for his riptide.
the reason why Childe hydro application is so fast, is because his normal atk, charge atk, and riptide has seperated ICD. thats why he can apply so much hydro that its really hard to remove. his rotation is not that hard to learn. in international comps, u only use his skill on Xiangling burst duration. or in electro charge comp on Beidou burst duration
Childe taught me a lot about team rotation, double swirl, CD and energy management. If you can master Childe, everything is Genshin should be easy for you.
I think he is the most fun characters, because you can easy use him in the overworld. You are not restricted to his burst, you can decide how long you use your skill and you can fight in range and melee. I highly recommend him, especially If you have Kazuha
Childe got a bad rep because he is the first character with two reruns, and because his mechanic is too hard for most people. But when you actually willing to learn his mechanic, he is the one of the most satisfying character to use.
Yet venti and Zhongli never got bad rep when they were the first to have a 3rd rerun. And yet people complain about childes 3rd rerun even though it's been a year and venti and Zhonglis 4th banners were quite close to their prior runs...sooo their arguments are invalid
It's more than that. The hate also comes from his whole character lore. Sometimes I also like to joke abt him bc he's such a clown but when it becomes too much aka unreasonable hate, I'd just assume that person is an idiot.
A great summary of Childe, especially pointing out that his personal damage isn't the best. I remember being super confused and disliking his kit as a Genshin noob, but during his first rerun I was far more educated and loved the subtlety and complexity that comes with his kit.
Planned on skipping him in 1.1 for Zhongli, got him accidentally when greeding for the 4-stars. Now he's still my favorite character by a MILE. Oonga boonga riptides all day long
i love childe. he's definitely misunderstood. a lot of people simply hate him because of his role in the story, too which is fair, but it's great to see someone go over his value as a character. new sub here, i like the sprinkle of humor in the video :D
Tbh even though in lore he sucks I still enjoy playing as him because i love exploring the overworld and it’s fun to imagine exploring as an evil harbinger😅
childe was my first event 5* character, way way long ago. i was fascinated by his unique and complex kit. time passed, now a lot of 5* characters seen a bit outdated due to the new reactions, but my first thought after the release of dendro was WOW CHILDE JUST BECAME EVEN MORE INTERESTING
INTERGRASSIONAL 🤣 I was using this team a lot after 3.0 but never see any CC/TC talk about it. It's a bit harder to play than international but usually everything dies in one rotation so seems pretty good! The best part is not having to change artifacts since Kazuha is usually proccing the burgeons and he's already built full EM.
🌸😹I would utter of the honorary “Rerun Archon”, that one not need to pressure themselves over his stat, for he shall return countless times more to grace banners anew guaranteed!😹🌸
People underestimate childes personal damage a lot. With 2 enemys his damage is already really competitive and with 3+ enemys he starts to outperform pretty much every other character.
I really can't believe people underlook this. I have many dps characters (including Raiden C2, whom I love), and I can confidently say that as there are more enemies, childe's power as a dps increase exponentially and in theory has infinite scaling (if his riptide scaling is 100%, and there are 4 enemies, that's 400% scaling every 1.5s, comparable to Ganyu's charged shot dps. And that's not even considering his normal attacks).
We got characters with fixed infusion duration/cd (hutao yoimiya ayato) nowadays because people didn't like how Childe's E work, despite it actually giving the players more freedom in gameplay. This is a weird case where less options make people happier, only for people to realize that we've been robbed away the options to have something cooler for newer characters.
I have to say that I started watching your videos a little after I started my journey with this game, and your advice has always been so in-depth and reliable that it’s made my time playing all the better. Thank you for being an under appreciated gem of a content creator!

As someone who’s first 5 star was childe I can comfortably say he’s not beginner friendly and there is no real bonus for being a master childe when every other dps can hit as hard as he does shit even heizou can hit as hard as he does lol

I think the real benchmark to see how much game knowledge someone has about genshin is if they think Childe is the "main dps" of his teams. Childe is an enabler, he has the highest hydro application out of any character by far because riptide has no icd and can trigger incredibly quickly. That's why he's crazy on teams like international where he can allow Xiangling to vape every hit of her pyronado.
Im going to say this once again that he is not a no brainer, he is a difficult but rewarding type of character, he will always remind you about the teams rotations and when or when not to swap him on the field. Once you have mastery over him, he will always satisfy you in the right conditions.
i’ve had childe since his first banner. he was my first five star, in fact. i’ve been struggling to find a team for him that i actually enjoy playing, and this video scratched my brain so hard that i’m gonna try him with nahida, kuki, and sucrose, and i am so excited for it!!!
The thing about Childe is , no one in game can keep up with him😂. That's how fast his Hydro Application is. Not even Sunfire Jean can which is like Fastest Pyro application in game. But alas there still are people living in old patches who still diss on him just because of his skill cooldown. When there's no cooldown issue at all
He actually does noticeably struggle in single target scenarios with a high amount of pyro application, but he will basically never struggle with more than one enemy.
@@kale1287 He can struggle in a team where Xiangling and Jean Sunfire are applying pyro together on a Single Target in which case Childe will apply hydro only till his stamina runs out since his Charged atks have no icd. But its very stamina consuming.🥲🥲
@@sensibleDuck893 It doesn’t even have to be Jean. If Guoba is active then almost any additional source of pyro (Kazuha, Sucrose) will send his stamina bar into oblivion
I really wish they make more characters like tartag where you get rewarded when you know how to play him not like the likes of Ayato and Yoimiya where it's just hold left click and spam left click gameplay.
there's a reason why childe international is still relevant to this day. his hydro application is second to none (matches well with xiangling), and his riptides are so satisfying when it bursts. i don't see mihoyo releasing another unit with hydro application as fast as chide's in the future (maaaybe hydro archon?) since they tend to limit ICD nowadays. his playstyle is also very unique and fun, since it requires understanding and attention to use. you just don't oonga boonga with him, there's a careful rotation to execute. i will say when I'm too lazy to think, I'll just pick ayato, but when I'm in the mood to play seriously, childe is undoubtedly much more rewarding.
I’ve been a childe main since his first banner and got me through everything and taught me a lot he’s still my absolute favorite I’ll keep him in my team for as long as I can
as a childe main for a bit over a year i just never get bored of playing him, his riptide is so satisfying and deals so much vaporize dmg. he helped me clear the game and now i’m just waiting for polar star to come home so that i can spoil him
i recomend u to pull for Ayato cuz its EZ to play other than childe because of hard rotation on hes e skill but childe deal more dmg with Q skill so...both good but childe is just kindda hard to executed for newbies
@@swordmaster4448 honestly he is not complex as the community makes him out to be. Im a dumbass with game mechanics but learning a basic 10 minute rotation is more than enough. Ayato is not the same as childe by a long mile. However my ayato works best with nahida as his personal damage is better
@@mir2678 currently ayato works better for bloom and hyperbloom though. Childe is very reliant on his nuke burst. But at the same time childe may be better in intergrassional ( more info needed tho lmao
I remember when I was a new player in 2.3 and was torn on who to pull, Hu tao or Childe. I then come across Riptide videos of Childe and something awakened in me. AND I decided to pull for him for those -psychotic- riptide chains. He had never left my team since then and carried me out through mid AR- high Ar days and even in abyss. Granted, I did have trouble with his cooldowns at first. He is just so satisfying to play that I always forget to switch him out. But as time went on. I got the hang of my -murderous- tendencies. Overall. I love him so much. And I'm thankful that he's my first ever limited 5* chara.
I remember Childe was my first ever 5* character as a newbie. I just chose him because he looked cool (I didn't even start the Liyue chapter yet that time, so I didn't know much of his personality). But after getting him, I felt like he didn't do well, and only just existed in my team as the one who quickly applies hydro to enemies before I swap to Chongyun. (Yeah, I mained Chongyun before). But after a while of playing, I finally stopped being my lazy self and started to read his kit, and trying to understand it. It's been months ever since then, and I can definitely say he's VERY fun to play (for me). I still use him a lot to this day, and currently he and the team I built for him performed better than all my other teams. (The only tips I could give to future Childe mains is get good artifacts with good stats, then a good weapon, then get the best supports to work well with him.)
I enjoy this video VERY MUCH even as an Ayato main who always skip Childe banners which the reason is just exactly as you said: "His potential is locked behind YOUR(my) ability to execute good rotations, good mechanical skill expression" and so on 🤣 It's somehow relieving to hear (I thought no one would understand the struggle). I know one proud Childe+Xiao main, and his skill on executing those two is beyond satisfying to watch. I bet he'll find it fun using Childe in InterGRASSional Team too! (LOL who made this name..) Childe's kit is not only very environment-fit on his debut year (Yup, I'm Day 1 player), but also lore-fit. Well done HoYoverse.
About the "bloom damage cap". It is actually "2 dendro core damage instance per second limit" similar to how swirl works(which also limits only to 2 swirl dmg instance per second limit). Also that limit is locally calculated to every enemy, which means if you triggered 6 cores to hyperbloom and seek 3 enemies in pairs. All will deal dmg twice at each of them
Child was never bad. I mean for while after he came out he was used a lot cause of how good his hydro application was. But so many other characters came out and he just kind of feel off. I mean Mona used to be in every big numbers combo team, she is still good, but just not used as much anymore. I Mean Ayato is kind of on the same path. For some reason Hydro characters outside supports or sub DPS, Xingqiu, Yelan, Koko, and Barbra are what people want from hydro.
Childe being one of the older released character he is SUPER easy to build and u can get good damage from him early in the game, Childe was my first limited 5* and I’ve been a Childe main since then even while having other meta dps characters.
I have used Childe since his first banner and he just keeps getting more useful as time goes on. He can be used with national teams, freeze teams, in mono hydro, electro charge driver, and now with dendro he is an amazing on field hydro applicator for bloom teams. In AOE situations he is arguably the best DPS character and his ability to easily set up elemental combos for his teammates is very useful. He isn't an all round character, but he fits into a lot niches and teams, and you can build a lot of wacky teams with his unique kit.
Seems like I’ve really been underrating Childe. Childe has always been a vanity pick for me and fell off after Sumeru came out due to the release of similar but more loved characters like Haitham. His kit, as explained, suggests he won’t age poorly at all (compared to most 1.1s, who either fell off or are more broken than they have any right to be). It’s a good future for the 11th Fatui Harbinger
You opened my eyes I got him on his last rerun which was last year and after levelling him up and all, I never really used him since I thought his gameplay was a bit too complex and that was because I never took the time to understand or learn how he works but I guess I could give him a shot after watching your satisfying gameplay
Bloom is a very good reaction. Something I have nickpick about is it having 2 Icd. One for creation of bloom and another one for the damage of bloom. Yess the second icd is only half of second but when your playing hyperbloom or burgeon (especially with slow electro/pyro appliers) it very common to electricity/pyrorifry 3-4 bloom at once. Costing to waste quite a big amount of bloom damage per rotation.
Childe will always have a special place in my heart as my first 5 star ever, and I've been using him on teams since 1.1! He really taught me the basics of balancing teams and doing rotations, when everyone was roasting him and calling him bad.
It’s fun to see childe videos, he was my first five star so I invested a lot into him and got his bow for him. I’ve been using him in a hyperbloom team with traveler Raiden and Zhongli. So it’s nice to know that that is a good team comp.
I’ve been a Childe main since 2.2, even have Polar Star and he’s a lot of fun to play with. I don’t have the teams that people recommend to have for him because I’m just more into the characters I like than meta, so he’s with Thoma all the time since I love both of them. The Dendro has made the Riptide so much more fun for and I can’t wait to just make my boys work with Alhaitham when he comes out. 😂

the only reason I see on why childe is not in many discussions in dendro teams is bloom's "2 seed per reaction" limit. you won't need many seeds if the trigger will only count 2 damage instance. like you said, there are many hydro characters to choose from nowadays if the goal is to produce at least 2 seeds consistently.
I don't care about how complex his gameplay, mechanics. I love him as a character! I just joined GI , probably during version 2.6 so this is the first time I'm gonna wish for him. :)
I already planned on pulling for Childe in the upcoming banner but was lucky enough to get my hands on Nahida. So I’m glad to hear he’ll pair very well with her Dendro application!
as Tartaglia main for a year, i can say that hes hybrid chracter, hes best in any situation(deal melee and range dmg) he can deal nice Burst DMG and nice E skill Dmg on normal/charge atk if u use r5 rust and ur goblet is atk% he can deal alot more phisical dmg other than hydro melee stance, but hes burst dmg also decrease from 40k to 25k with skyward harp. childe is like normal and charge atker charcter with range and melee stance but not best like Yoimiya norm atk dmg and ganyu charge atk but in the same time hes deal Nice Burst DMG but not best like hutao Burst when her Hp is low or Ayaka, but the good thing is hes THE BEST dealing multiple enemy "AROUND HIM" thanks to Riptide overall for me hes SOOOOO much FUN as F2P Character to play on open world with melee and range stance but not best on Spiral Abyss unless u have a VERY GOOD Xiangling as childe support or other good sub/support dps to carry for him
The coolest thing ever was the realization that he has the perfect amount of energy to use his ranged burst and activate skill to trigger shimenawas set and benefits more from Thundering pulse than yoimiya
He's just too fun/powerful of a driver to give up. Love his vape, reverse vape, freeze, fridge, bloom, hyperbloom, burgeon, hyperburgeon, taser and mono hydro teams. He's one of the only units in the game that will only continue to get stronger as time goes.
I can still remember when I was starting the game, I was always punished by Childe's E skill cool down because he is the only strongest character that I have except Diluc. As I leveled my support characters and learned the importance of energy recharge I learn how to rotate with Childe. I find him rewarding and now aside from national team I can finally play ChiLumi my favorite straight ship.
I will definitely be pulling for him as I missed his banners and really loved his gameplay in the trials, plus he's one of my favourite characters so hopefully he comes home!
I had some reservations before pulling Childe because of people saying that he is weak or difficult to play. But now i'm a proud Childe main and I honestly don't understand why people find him so complicated. His teams' rotations aren't difficult once you learn to manage his skill CD, and after some time it just comes naturally
Just tossed him in a hyperbloom team with dendro mc, collei (soon to be replaced with nahida), and EM kuki and his dendro core creation is insane, kuki's ability ticks about once a second and im STILL going over the 5 core limit and they explode without getting hyperbloomed. Absolute application BEAST.
I pulled this guy wayyyyy back when he first released, and frankly I don't really remember why; perhaps I just liked how unique he seemed. Unfortunately I quickly realized that he's the type of character that requires investment across your entire team, something which my account wasn't prepared for at that time. Then I proceeded to continue leveling and obtaining characters that you don't typically use with Childe, so he kinda just sits there looking cool. He's a lot of fun and quite satisfying to use, but you have to "get there" first, or all his enabling means nothing because nobody else does damage yet.
Frankly I haven't even touched Dendro teams yet... but then I also haven't built a Dendro char yet lol BUT I have been playing Childe + Double Pyro for two years now and I don't plan to stop anytime soon since that is also how I have cleared 36 star Abyss for two years now xD And one of the nicest things about Childe that people tend to ignore is that he has his full damage potential at C0, yes C3 and C5 add the typical bonus levels, but apart from that there is no damage increase hidden in his constellations, his entire kit is just ready to go at C0.
I started the game back in v1.1, three days post Tartaglia's release. Since this was my first gacha game i had no idea how the game works and i didn't figure out that you had to summon units to get them until Zhongli was released. So i always regret not having him. Patches dropped by and every time Childe was around i wanted to wish but had something more important to wish/save for. But finally in 3.2 (last night) i was in a spot where i had no plans on summoning any near units so i decided to spend my 20 wishes (4 pity after getting Nahida) just in case. The first 10 pull i lost to diluc. The second 10 pull i got Tartaglia. And that's how I fulfilled my long desire to have him. I cannot say that Childe is the best unit I've ever seen because that'd be a disrespect to real Childe mains but he's certainly a character that i cherish and that holds a special place in my heart due to starting the game alongside his release and seeing all those OG genshin fanarts and community art works including diluc childe and Zhongli. All that brings the memories back and getting Tartaglia just made me feel like I'm back in time in November 2020.
i remember trying to pull for childe in his first rerun solely because hes hot imo, ended up with a qiqi :’) got him on his second rerun but i never built xiangling or beidou so i couldnt use him in abyss with great success. hoping that nahida can help me make childe a viable option for my abyss runs
I've been trying to get this guy since his first banner dropped and I'm willing to drop as much money as I need to get him this time I will not miss him this time
I have him at C1, both of which came from YOLO pulls, wagering that if I got him, neat, and if not, then I'll have 100% chance on my actual target's banner. Anyhow, the point is, since I never bothered with reaction-heavy teams until Dendro came along, I never built a melt/vape team around him, so I barely used him last year, but with my shiny new C2 Nahida, you can bet your ears I'm going to make a crazy bloom/hyperbloom team with him.
I want cons for Thoma, Heizou, and i want Layla for a future freeze team, but I don't really care too much about Childe or Yae. I couldn't decide which 5* banner to pull on, but your video completely convinced me to pull for Yae. Thanks!
Childe was the first limited 5* that I ever pulled and he honestly saved my account! I would’ve quit Genshin if I hadn’t gotten him, so I don’t regret getting him at all and I don’t think I ever will. Childe is probably one of the best if not the best DPS when it comes to crowds. That said I think what makes people steer away from him is his seemingly long cool down and the fact that people use him more for reverse vape

He was like the first five star character that i got (We don't acknowledge mona cuz she was from standard and i don't like her). And ngl since it was the begining stage of my genshin life, the teams and rotations didn't really matter, i paired him with beidou and boom! everyone's dead and even now, i just use Raiden and dendro traveler to unga bunga everything with him bro i don't have enough brain cells to remember a team rotation and actually execute it
for those that just got polar star for Childe, in order to get all the 4 stacks u need to first Aim charged atk, then open elemental skill and starts charged atk after that use his burst immediately and boom u got 4 stacks. each stacks has independent cool down so keeps doing that charged atk and burst, also i recommend that u get atk around 2k so that when his 4 stacks activate his atk would around 2400
as a Childe main since his first release if you want him to do more dmg then must improve your own control skills because gdmn his so a mechanic base character but yeah more enemies more fun hahah

As a childe main since the beginning of time, i say this guy won't age, his kit will only age like fine wine as more broken supports and reaction comps come out cause of his somewhat decent 1v1 damage, crazy ass multi target damage and really good hydro application.
Same, I never got bored of childe since 1.1 and until this day, is one of my strongest comp in my team with xiangling, kazuha and bennett. And the riptide, man it’s satisfying

There´s Taser, permafreeze, overbloom, burgeon, there may be even more that i´m not aware of but man, childe has so many ways to utilize his kit optimally, i´m glad i got him in his 2ndo rerun (I tried getting him when he 1st came out but got mona instead ):), i have been enjoying him ever since then

Childe main since 1.4 🤝 his uptime was difficult to manage for me at first, but now I've became one with the love machine and his cooldowns are no longer a problem as long as you know how to rotate your team
OG Childe Main too, but I have to say, Childe might start seeing some awkward situations when Fontaine meta actually steers towards HP meta. His hydro app will still be useful nonetheless.
Hoyo really nailed Childe's gameplay considering he's a 1.1 5*. He is technical not in a micro sense like Hu Tao (although he has some micro optimizations here and there), but in a macro sense. He is a team player, teaching the importance of building his teammates alongside him and learning rotations. His comps offer a lot of flexibility, usually ending up playing differently depending on the combat scenario. Definitely a great pull for those looking into characters that lean into macro and skill expression.

as a childe main a tip i have to help manage his cooldowns is to watch for your other team member's skill/burst durations, when they expire its a pretty good indication that its time to switch out and restart the rotation :)

As a proud Childe main I approve of this message. I build all my teams around this man and he is honestly a lot more versatile than most people would expect. I am currently having a blast using him with Yae, Kokomi (bennet or dendro traveler are sometimes slotted in here), and Kazuha.
His passive "master of weaponry" is probably the most unique and powerful one in-game.
He and I are also happily married

Same happened here. I got him at 32 pity as my second limited 5☆ ever (1st one being my accidental Nahida at 13 pity) and at the time I didnt really care about rotations as that wasnt necassary for the overworld
I really love his playstyle, tho it can indeed be a pain if you let his cooldown go up too high. Also I realy need Kazuha cuz I lack the cc to group enemies for his riptide.
the reason why Childe hydro application is so fast, is because his normal atk, charge atk, and riptide has seperated ICD. thats why he can apply so much hydro that its really hard to remove.
his rotation is not that hard to learn. in international comps, u only use his skill on Xiangling burst duration. or in electro charge comp on Beidou burst duration

If you can master Childe, everything is Genshin should be easy for you.
I think he is the most fun characters, because you can easy use him in the overworld. You are not restricted to his burst, you can decide how long you use your skill and you can fight in range and melee. I highly recommend him, especially If you have Kazuha

Childe got a bad rep because he is the first character with two reruns, and because his mechanic is too hard for most people.
But when you actually willing to learn his mechanic, he is the one of the most satisfying character to use.

I remember being super confused and disliking his kit as a Genshin noob, but during his first rerun I was far more educated and loved the subtlety and complexity that comes with his kit.

childe was my first event 5* character, way way long ago. i was fascinated by his unique and complex kit. time passed, now a lot of 5* characters seen a bit outdated due to the new reactions, but my first thought after the release of dendro was WOW CHILDE JUST BECAME EVEN MORE INTERESTING
INTERGRASSIONAL 🤣 I was using this team a lot after 3.0 but never see any CC/TC talk about it. It's a bit harder to play than international but usually everything dies in one rotation so seems pretty good! The best part is not having to change artifacts since Kazuha is usually proccing the burgeons and he's already built full EM.
🌸😹I would utter of the honorary “Rerun Archon”, that one not need to pressure themselves over his stat, for he shall return countless times more to grace banners anew guaranteed!😹🌸
People underestimate childes personal damage a lot.
With 2 enemys his damage is already really competitive and with 3+ enemys he starts to outperform pretty much every other character.
I really can't believe people underlook this. I have many dps characters (including Raiden C2, whom I love), and I can confidently say that as there are more enemies, childe's power as a dps increase exponentially and in theory has infinite scaling (if his riptide scaling is 100%, and there are 4 enemies, that's 400% scaling every 1.5s, comparable to Ganyu's charged shot dps. And that's not even considering his normal attacks).

We got characters with fixed infusion duration/cd (hutao yoimiya ayato) nowadays because people didn't like how Childe's E work, despite it actually giving the players more freedom in gameplay.

I think the real benchmark to see how much game knowledge someone has about genshin is if they think Childe is the "main dps" of his teams. Childe is an enabler, he has the highest hydro application out of any character by far because riptide has no icd and can trigger incredibly quickly. That's why he's crazy on teams like international where he can allow Xiangling to vape every hit of her pyronado.

Im going to say this once again that he is not a no brainer, he is a difficult but rewarding type of character, he will always remind you about the teams rotations and when or when not to swap him on the field. Once you have mastery over him, he will always satisfy you in the right conditions.
Childe have riptide, that skill was insane in different way.

He actually does noticeably struggle in single target scenarios with a high amount of pyro application, but he will basically never struggle with more than one enemy.
@@kale1287 He can struggle in a team where Xiangling and Jean Sunfire are applying pyro together on a Single Target in which case Childe will apply hydro only till his stamina runs out since his Charged atks have no icd.

there's a reason why childe international is still relevant to this day. his hydro application is second to none (matches well with xiangling), and his riptides are so satisfying when it bursts. i don't see mihoyo releasing another unit with hydro application as fast as chide's in the future (maaaybe hydro archon?) since they tend to limit ICD nowadays.
his playstyle is also very unique and fun, since it requires understanding and attention to use. you just don't oonga boonga with him, there's a careful rotation to execute.
i will say when I'm too lazy to think, I'll just pick ayato, but when I'm in the mood to play seriously, childe is undoubtedly much more rewarding.

I remember when I was a new player in 2.3 and was torn on who to pull, Hu tao or Childe.
I then come across Riptide videos of Childe and something awakened in me.
AND I decided to pull for him for those -psychotic- riptide chains.
He had never left my team since then and carried me out through mid AR- high Ar days and even in abyss.
Granted, I did have trouble with his cooldowns at first. He is just so satisfying to play that I always forget to switch him out.
But as time went on. I got the hang of my -murderous- tendencies.
Overall. I love him so much. And I'm thankful that he's my first ever limited 5* chara.
I remember Childe was my first ever 5* character as a newbie. I just chose him because he looked cool (I didn't even start the Liyue chapter yet that time, so I didn't know much of his personality). But after getting him, I felt like he didn't do well, and only just existed in my team as the one who quickly applies hydro to enemies before I swap to Chongyun. (Yeah, I mained Chongyun before). But after a while of playing, I finally stopped being my lazy self and started to read his kit, and trying to understand it. It's been months ever since then, and I can definitely say he's VERY fun to play (for me). I still use him a lot to this day, and currently he and the team I built for him performed better than all my other teams. (The only tips I could give to future Childe mains is get good artifacts with good stats, then a good weapon, then get the best supports to work well with him.)

I enjoy this video VERY MUCH even as an Ayato main who always skip Childe banners which the reason is just exactly as you said: "His potential is locked behind YOUR(my) ability to execute good rotations, good mechanical skill expression" and so on 🤣 It's somehow relieving to hear (I thought no one would understand the struggle). About the "bloom damage cap". It is actually "2 dendro core damage instance per second limit" similar to how swirl works(which also limits only to 2 swirl dmg instance per second limit). Also that limit is locally calculated to every enemy, which means if you triggered 6 cores to hyperbloom and seek 3 enemies in pairs. All will deal dmg twice at each of them
Child was never bad. I mean for while after he came out he was used a lot cause of how good his hydro application was. But so many other characters came out and he just kind of feel off. I mean Mona used to be in every big numbers combo team, she is still good, but just not used as much anymore. I Mean Ayato is kind of on the same path. For some reason Hydro characters outside supports or sub DPS, Xingqiu, Yelan, Koko, and Barbra are what people want from hydro.

Although I benched Childe during Inazuma, after trying out hyperbloom team using Childe, it somehow works very well.
Childe being one of the older released character he is SUPER easy to build and u can get good damage from him early in the game, Childe was my first limited 5* and I’ve been a Childe main since then even while having other meta dps characters.
I have used Childe since his first banner and he just keeps getting more useful as time goes on.
He can be used with national teams, freeze teams, in mono hydro, electro charge driver, and now with dendro he is an amazing on field hydro applicator for bloom teams.
In AOE situations he is arguably the best DPS character and his ability to easily set up elemental combos for his teammates is very useful.
He isn't an all round character, but he fits into a lot niches and teams, and you can build a lot of wacky teams with his unique kit.
Seems like I’ve really been underrating Childe. Childe has always been a vanity pick for me and fell off after Sumeru came out due to the release of similar but more loved characters like Haitham. His kit, as explained, suggests he won’t age poorly at all (compared to most 1.1s, who either fell off or are more broken than they have any right to be). It’s a good future for the 11th Fatui Harbinger

You opened my eyes I got him on his last rerun which was last year and after levelling him up and all, I never really used him since I thought his gameplay was a bit too complex and that was because I never took the time to understand or learn how he works but I guess I could give him a shot after watching your satisfying gameplay
Bloom is a very good reaction. Something I have nickpick about is it having 2 Icd. One for creation of bloom and another one for the damage of bloom. Yess the second icd is only half of second but when your playing hyperbloom or burgeon (especially with slow electro/pyro appliers) it very common to electricity/pyrorifry 3-4 bloom at once. Costing to waste quite a big amount of bloom damage per rotation.
Childe will always have a special place in my heart as my first 5 star ever, and I've been using him on teams since 1.1! He really taught me the basics of balancing teams and doing rotations, when everyone was roasting him and calling him bad.
It’s fun to see childe videos, he was my first five star so I invested a lot into him and got his bow for him. I’ve been using him in a hyperbloom team with traveler Raiden and Zhongli. So it’s nice to know that that is a good team comp.
I’ve been a Childe main since 2.2, even have Polar Star and he’s a lot of fun to play with. I don’t have the teams that people recommend to have for him because I’m just more into the characters I like than meta, so he’s with Thoma all the time since I love both of them. The Dendro has made the Riptide so much more fun for and I can’t wait to just make my boys work with Alhaitham when he comes out. 😂

the only reason I see on why childe is not in many discussions in dendro teams is bloom's "2 seed per reaction" limit. you won't need many seeds if the trigger will only count 2 damage instance. like you said, there are many hydro characters to choose from nowadays if the goal is to produce at least 2 seeds consistently.
And he trigger all the seed with his 0 EM riptide. And his up time is worse than other hydro.

I already planned on pulling for Childe in the upcoming banner but was lucky enough to get my hands on Nahida. So I’m glad to hear he’ll pair very well with her Dendro application!
as Tartaglia main for a year, i can say that hes hybrid chracter, hes best in any situation(deal melee and range dmg) he can deal nice Burst DMG and nice E skill Dmg on normal/charge atk
if u use r5 rust and ur goblet is atk% he can deal alot more phisical dmg other than hydro melee stance, but hes burst dmg also decrease from 40k to 25k with skyward harp.
childe is like normal and charge atker charcter with range and melee stance but not best like Yoimiya norm atk dmg and ganyu charge atk but in the same time hes deal Nice Burst DMG but not best like hutao Burst when her Hp is low or Ayaka, but the good thing is hes THE BEST dealing multiple enemy "AROUND HIM" thanks to Riptide
overall for me hes SOOOOO much FUN as F2P Character to play on open world with melee and range stance but not best on Spiral Abyss unless u have a VERY GOOD Xiangling as childe support or other good sub/support dps to carry for him
The coolest thing ever was the realization that he has the perfect amount of energy to use his ranged burst and activate skill to trigger shimenawas set and benefits more from Thundering pulse than yoimiya
He's just too fun/powerful of a driver to give up. Love his vape, reverse vape, freeze, fridge, bloom, hyperbloom, burgeon, hyperburgeon, taser and mono hydro teams. He's one of the only units in the game that will only continue to get stronger as time goes.
I can still remember when I was starting the game, I was always punished by Childe's E skill cool down because he is the only strongest character that I have except Diluc. As I leveled my support characters and learned the importance of energy recharge I learn how to rotate with Childe. I find him rewarding and now aside from national team I can finally play ChiLumi my favorite straight ship.
I will definitely be pulling for him as I missed his banners and really loved his gameplay in the trials, plus he's one of my favourite characters so hopefully he comes home!
I had some reservations before pulling Childe because of people saying that he is weak or difficult to play. But now i'm a proud Childe main and I honestly don't understand why people find him so complicated. His teams' rotations aren't difficult once you learn to manage his skill CD, and after some time it just comes naturally
Just tossed him in a hyperbloom team with dendro mc, collei (soon to be replaced with nahida), and EM kuki and his dendro core creation is insane, kuki's ability ticks about once a second and im STILL going over the 5 core limit and they explode without getting hyperbloomed. Absolute application BEAST.
I pulled this guy wayyyyy back when he first released, and frankly I don't really remember why; perhaps I just liked how unique he seemed.
Unfortunately I quickly realized that he's the type of character that requires investment across your entire team, something which my account wasn't prepared for at that time.
Then I proceeded to continue leveling and obtaining characters that you don't typically use with Childe, so he kinda just sits there looking cool.
He's a lot of fun and quite satisfying to use, but you have to "get there" first, or all his enabling means nothing because nobody else does damage yet.
Frankly I haven't even touched Dendro teams yet... but then I also haven't built a Dendro char yet lol
BUT I have been playing Childe + Double Pyro for two years now and I don't plan to stop anytime soon since that is also how I have cleared 36 star Abyss for two years now xD And one of the nicest things about Childe that people tend to ignore is that he has his full damage potential at C0, yes C3 and C5 add the typical bonus levels, but apart from that there is no damage increase hidden in his constellations, his entire kit is just ready to go at C0.
I started the game back in v1.1, three days post Tartaglia's release. Since this was my first gacha game i had no idea how the game works and i didn't figure out that you had to summon units to get them until Zhongli was released. So i always regret not having him. Patches dropped by and every time Childe was around i wanted to wish but had something more important to wish/save for. But finally in 3.2 (last night) i was in a spot where i had no plans on summoning any near units so i decided to spend my 20 wishes (4 pity after getting Nahida) just in case. The first 10 pull i lost to diluc. The second 10 pull i got Tartaglia. And that's how I fulfilled my long desire to have him. I cannot say that Childe is the best unit I've ever seen because that'd be a disrespect to real Childe mains but he's certainly a character that i cherish and that holds a special place in my heart due to starting the game alongside his release and seeing all those OG genshin fanarts and community art works including diluc childe and Zhongli. All that brings the memories back and getting Tartaglia just made me feel like I'm back in time in November 2020.

I love childes play style 2 of my favorite comps are childe, kuki, fichil, venti, and childe, xiangling, Bennet, kazuha
i remember trying to pull for childe in his first rerun solely because hes hot imo, ended up with a qiqi :’) got him on his second rerun but i never built xiangling or beidou so i couldnt use him in abyss with great success. hoping that nahida can help me make childe a viable option for my abyss runs

I've been trying to get this guy since his first banner dropped and I'm willing to drop as much money as I need to get him this time I will not miss him this time
I have him at C1, both of which came from YOLO pulls, wagering that if I got him, neat, and if not, then I'll have 100% chance on my actual target's banner.
Anyhow, the point is, since I never bothered with reaction-heavy teams until Dendro came along, I never built a melt/vape team around him, so I barely used him last year, but with my shiny new C2 Nahida, you can bet your ears I'm going to make a crazy bloom/hyperbloom team with him.
I want cons for Thoma, Heizou, and i want Layla for a future freeze team, but I don't really care too much about Childe or Yae. I couldn't decide which 5* banner to pull on, but your video completely convinced me to pull for Yae. Thanks!

Childe was the first limited 5* that I ever pulled and he honestly saved my account! I would’ve quit Genshin if I hadn’t gotten him, so I don’t regret getting him at all and I don’t think I ever will. His kit is very rewarding so I thought that I’d reward him back by pulling Polar Star for him. Wish me luck! 😅
Childe is probably one of the best if not the best DPS when it comes to crowds. That said I think what makes people steer away from him is his seemingly long cool down and the fact that people use him more for reverse vape

hes very useful in dendro domain i tried him in a freeze comp and bloom comp as long as u dont die its as good as the freeze granted u dont die
He was like the first five star character that i got (We don't acknowledge mona cuz she was from standard and i don't like her). And ngl since it was the begining stage of my genshin life, the teams and rotations didn't really matter, i paired him with beidou and boom! everyone's dead and even now, i just use Raiden and dendro traveler to unga bunga everything with him bro i don't have enough brain cells to remember a team rotation and actually execute it
Since I already have him from his 2nd/3rd rerun banner, I will revisit and play him again for Dendro teams and the OG vape bombs hehe 😊👌🙋🏻♂️✨‼️
for those that just got polar star for Childe, in order to get all the 4 stacks u need to first Aim charged atk, then open elemental skill and starts charged atk after that use his burst immediately and boom u got 4 stacks. each stacks has independent cool down so keeps doing that charged atk and burst, also i recommend that u get atk around 2k so that when his 4 stacks activate his atk would around 2400
as a Childe main since his first release if you want him to do more dmg then must improve your own control skills because gdmn his so a mechanic base character but yeah more enemies more fun hahah

It’s kinda uncool that there aren’t many dendro childe team guides that I’ve found.
