A singer with roots in East Pakistan (modern Bangladesh), making it big in (West) Pakistan.. And here I am, an Indian and a Bengali, sitting in my room and enjoying the best of both worlds (and languages). Long live South Asian culture!!! :)
Alamgir is a great example of human struggle and superb talent when he came to Karachi, Pakistan, empty handed, no money, nowhere to sleep and used to sing in a restaurent on Tariq road for the only meal of the day he gets there in return. Our Bangali friends and everybody else should know this as he himself narrated this on several occasions. With his tenacity and talent he became the biggest popular music singer and musician in Pakistan. He sang several popular Pakistani folks and memorable Pakistani national songs beside creating his own brand of music from where the popular music evolves now to current Coke studio Pakistan. And he never forgot his Bangali roots and hence brought respect to Bangali culture in Pakistan and everywhere he went. Simply put he is adored in Pakistan.
Yes this is a bengali song ... the sweetest language in the world ... doesn't matter whether it is sung in India or Pakistan , it will remain the sweetest language...
I'm feeling so emotional although it's 2023. What a creation it was. Lot of love and respect to Pakistani people. You know what we Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian people must be prideful for our unique & lovely culture. I'm from Bangladesh & loved this song very much. 🇧🇩🇵🇰🇮🇳🤍

We Bangladeshis are familiar with Alamgir. He aced this song. However, this is the first time I listened to Fariha Pervez. What a beautiful and soulful voice! Outstanding.
Everybody wants to hit the keyboard without giving another thought. It was amazingly sung by one of the pioneers of Pakistan's pop industry - this is not about bringing nationality but complimenting his achievements. Imagine how well Pakistan could have done if there was a single public academy/university of performing arts. There is still time I hope a few visionaries would put resources togather and put this country on world map of dance, music, cinematography, art and sculpture. Bravo, Bravo.
I am a srilankan, although I couldn't understand this song. I listen to this song frequently. it takes me to a different mind set.. salute the composer and singer....
music has no country, this made me cry, I am a bangali from india, was searching for this song, this caught my eye, and well loved it.. :) the fusion is something made in heavens , a lot of love to all the musicians and the director :)

And Coke studio India as well as pakistan are great also I feel CS PAKISTAN is stronger than CS INDIA
I'm a Bengali from India, and I so love this piece of passion. I had played this piece, for how many times since yesterday, I don't know.....We all have descended from the same pluralistic nation, and now due to actions of a few, we are now separated into three nations, but still things like these still unites us, beyond all hatred, mistrust, frowns of government, extremists..... Love all of those associated with this creation
This song has been central to the heart of the people of Bangladesh. I appreciate the endeavour of Coke studio. Coke studio has taken the song to new heights.
As a Bangladeshi I feel very honored that You folks singing on our language. If you had this mentality in war, we never would have dissected. As a Bangladeshi+ Muslim, I wish prosperity to all Pakistanis. But , the bitterness you seed inside our old generation, as a belonging of new generation I forgive. This is the way of prosperity. Lets unite all (India+ Pakistan+ Bangladesh) and show the world we can bring good energy to world. tired of biting and hating each other. :( EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL IN THEIR WAY. AMIN
How beautiful this song and singer give emotion, feeling, and everything. Just wow! Music has no boundary. It's a universal language. Love form Bangladesh !
This sickening attempt to write in Bengali is what North Indians do. Why don't you triple-check what you write. It should be 'Tumi kyamon achho? Aami bhaalo achhi'. You don't call your brothers and sisters 'Aapni', but 'Tumi'. And why this sudden love for Bangladesh after 1971?
I am an Bengali Indian enjoying such a nostalgic song of our culture sung by Singers from Bangladesh prepared in Pakistan.... both the singers just rocked!!!!!! wt can be more beautiful than thissss..... love u #cokestudio
Actually that guy is a Pakistani, although he may be ethnically Bengali but he chose Pakistani during the war. So I don’t understand why everyone is calling him a Bangladeshi when he clearly didn’t choose my country.
This song speaks volumes divided by borders/fences/barbed wires etc...but can the soul's music be ever captured by any confined paradigm....Bangla-Urdu-Hindustani....coming together in one platform...So, I respect this feat.of us Humans...which is a Master piece...Respect to creativity!!!...to ALL NATIONS OF OUR SUB CONTINENT..INDIA PAKISTAN BANGLADESH!!! ...from a Music Lover from Calcutta/Kolkata India.. Music understands no borders no boundaries because it is DIVINE SENT...to.... Humans on Earth
as I am Bangladeshi, I am feeling that do whatever u want but Bangladesh, India,Pakistan we all are brothers from the same mother. there was always some haters, ignore them. because after they we all same. Back to our brotherhood. by read comments I feel really good. ( ignore my english skill, not good at this)
WOW HOW HAVE I MISSED THIS ALL THIS TIME, isnt this absolutely heaven, plz 4get the past misunderstandings and look 4ward to a united future, pakistan n bangladesh zindabad !
Alamgir Sir, Fariha Madam and the splendid concert make me wandering in the Heaven as soon as I start listening. I do not know how to express my gratitude for giving the opportunities of listening this masterpiece. Respect and love🙏🙏🙏
bengali & urdu two swetest languages, outstanding. even the European(probably) musicians are awesome. A truly global presentation. music & culture knows no border. love to all brotherhood of humanity (from pakistan, bangladesh, india, or wherever in world) of world.
At first I thought this is coke studio India ..then I saw"Pakistan" anyways I'm happy that they presented our folk song :) music is a strong connection indeed.. Best wishes from Bangladesh :)
It's been like 50-60 times literally!!! that I have been listening to this beautiful beautiful mix of Bengali and Urdu. I myself from Bangladesh and I am really ashamed that I knew nothing about the legend Mr. Alamgir. Hats off to Coke Studio Pakistan. The combination is so so good. Wish to get more like this in future. And About some misconception about Amay bhashaili re, which some says its by manna dey!! It is a fully Bangladeshi folk song written by Famous poet Jasimuddin. Cheers from Bangladesh :)
What a wonderful rendition! Retains some of the rustic appeal of the song, but in amalgamating it with Western classical instruments, including the harp, and Hindi gazal, makes this version very, very rich. Such a treat to listen to music like this. Both the female and male singers are very good. I use 'male' and 'female' because i am not that familiar with their names, so don't want to make mistakes. Many gazals set to mishra Yaman and Pilu raags--so very melodious and beautiful. I am referring to Farida Khanum's rendition of 'Ab jaane ka zid mat karo'. Also this particular gazal reminded me of Begum Akhtar's, 'Piya bholo abhimaan'. Bringing gazal and lokgeeti together was such a brilliant idea. A sense of cosmic longing for togetherness and need for release, fuses both songs. The original contexts for the songs are so different--Bangla bhatiyali and Muslim boudoir/court culture--natural versus sophisticated. But with the world having become so global that bhatiyali, gazal and Western musical instruments (traditionally, that is) come together with such great appeal. I just loved this song. The synchronizing between all the musicians was just so good:):)
This song is very old Bangladeshi folk song by 'The Rural Poet' of Bangladesh Jasim Uddin. And Mr.Alamgir is a Bangladeshi born Pakistani singer. His father was bangladeshi too and a member of All India Muslim league. But during 1971's separation Alamgir was studying in Karachi.
Absolutely beautiful....a favorite bhatiali, and a favorite Pahadi thumri...woven together by a symphony orchestra....marvelous singing by Alamgir and Fariha
Alamgir vai ex cadet of Mirzapur Cadet College.I love his songs....I also performed his songs in our prog...i am a Folk songs lover.Alamgir vai stay blessed...May Allah bless you vai.
Yes this is Coke Studio Pakistan... Alamgir is an asset for music in Pakistan as well as Bangladesh. We LUV him and value his contribution in evolution of modern music in Pakistan. Fareeha Pervez also did good to make this song a perfect duet.
I met him once at Mirzapur Cadet college. He is not only a great singer, but also has a great personality. He could not sing due to health complications but made a couple of jokes. We literally had our asses laughing of. Respect.
This song proves that love has no language or barrier. Thanks to Coke studio Pakistan for recreating the song with the Bengali version. Love from a proud citizen of Bangladesh ❤
bangladesh and pakistan fought war against each other but there is always something between them and that is the love for music Pakistani people will always remember "dama dam maste kalander" by Runa lila and i will remember this awesome song by Alamgir & Farhiha Pervez
Don't know if one realizes...everyone in this song is in deep trance...irrespective of language, race, culture...what a musical master piece !! Preserve this track for generations to come. Bravo Coke Studio. The fusion of geographical and political boundaries is possible only through music. Mr. Hyatt you have my respect.

just when i read a Bangladeshi brother's comment, suggesting Alomgir should return to his motherland, my heart sank and then a smile crawled on my face..'Aye Pak Watan tujhe mera khuda, Yunhi qaaim daaim shaad rakhe ( his sweet words singing).... He is OURS, Our very own !! ..Thank You Sir Alamgir !! Pakistan Loves You and You will always be in the heartbeat of every Pakistani...(Tears)

Bhumika Patel
aamaay bhaashaaili re
You have set me adrift
aamaay ḍoobaaili re
You are causing me to drown
okool dauriaar boojhi kool naai re
The river seems endless as if there were no shore
kool naai kinaar naai
No border, no shore
naai ko dauriaar paari
The river has no limits
shaabdhaane chaalaaiyo maajhi
Steer it most cautiously, boatman
aamaar bhaanga tori re
This boat of mine with a broken rim
okool dauriaar boojhi kool naai re
The river seems endless as if there were no shore
Whether a storm rages
chaahe megha chhaaye re
Whether rainclouds rumble
hamen tu us paar leke jaana maajhi re
Take us across to the other end, boatman
chaahe jitna shor karen ye nadiya ke dhaare
However loud these river torrents roar
saath mere lagaaiyo maajhi naao miri kinaare re
Help me get my boat to the shore, boatman
hamen tu us paar leke jaana maajhi re
Take us across to the other end, boatman
(sargam)
nah main maangoon sona chaandi
I don’t ask for gold and silver
mangoon tose preet
I ask you for love
balma maeeka chaaṛ gaye
My lover has left me and gone
yihi jagat ki reet
This is the way of the world

Nice song,,,,,,,,
Mo Oz appreciate the love bro ! 💖
Mo Oz thanks brother! love to all Pakistani bothers and sisters from this Bangladeshi sister 😊
Mo Oz Thank you. 😞 Peace from Bangladesh. 😞😞😭😭😭😭
AMIN
"Unforgettable" song....lot's of love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤️
How beautiful this song and singer give emotion, feeling, and everything. Just wow! Music has no boundary. It's a universal language. Love form Bangladesh !
Love to my Bangladeshi brothers & sisters from Pakistan :) Aapne kimon achi? Ami Bhaalo :)
It should be "Aapni kemon achen". all good. :) Salam to Pakistani Brothers n Sisters from Bangladesh.
This sickening attempt to write in Bengali is what North Indians do. Why don't you triple-check what you write. It should be 'Tumi kyamon achho? Aami bhaalo achhi'. You don't call your brothers and sisters 'Aapni', but 'Tumi'. And why this sudden love for Bangladesh after 1971?
..
0.3 million Bangali's still live in Pakistan majority of them live in the port city of Karachi in the Sindh province....
Syed Ali Fahad Kazmi
i am a bangladeshi and i realise why ppl are focusing more on the bangladeshi folk part, but how good was fariha pervez's part!!! so soothing
❤ শিল্পের কোন সীমারেখা হয়না। জন্মগত ভাবে আমরা এই পৃথিবীর নাগরিক। সবার জন্য ভালোবাসা ❤️
Seriously this song is awesome ..my mother from Dhaka but father from Kolkata.. So both country is my country
Atanu Halder amar o❤️

নানার বাড়ি এসো একদিন
Fariha is from Pakistan
My mother sings this song to me almost everyday. Love from bangladesh
This song remains me of the 1952 incident. Our brave brothers fight for Bangla as their mother language.

Yes totally agreed.

Love and Respect from West Bengal, India
I don't know why this song make me sad ,maybe because of bloody 70's December . love for Bangladesh from Pakistan.
Well realisation! The more you realise, the better you will be! The brutal bloodshed was in 1971.
we love you bro. sending love from #Bangladesh.
waqas ahmad Thanks! That's all humanity needs "Love"
thank u
respect for your love...from Bangladesh
I am a Bangladeshi,,so I feel proud to enjoying this song on the voice of Pakistani singer
The only Bengali song has been placed in coke studio of three countries.💙💗
Urdu ghazal*. It's Urdu.
Loved your comment. Just a lil correction. It's not a ghazal, rather a Thumri, based on raag Pahadi :)
Very nice observation,
Strongly Agreed!
Kaku ami INDIA thake bolche......
U makes me ur big fan............ what a range
Sandipan Sarkar its Coke studio Pakistan not India
This song is very old Bangladeshi folk song by 'The Rural Poet' of Bangladesh Jasim Uddin. And Mr.Alamgir is a Bangladeshi born Pakistani singer. His father was bangladeshi too and a member of All India Muslim league. But during 1971's separation Alamgir was studying in Karachi.
How can someone sings a song with such emotions! Heart melting!❤️💕🙂
Thanks bhai , good to know he is our cadet family. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Respect.
Growing up with Alamgeer’s beautiful voice this was a beautiful composition 😍😍😍
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇵🇰
This song proves that love has no language or barrier. Thanks to Coke studio Pakistan for recreating the song with the Bengali version. Love from a proud citizen of Bangladesh ❤
মহিলা রাজাক😝
bangladesh and pakistan fought war against each other but there is always something between them and that is the love for music
Pakistani people will always remember "dama dam maste kalander" by Runa lila and i will remember this awesome song by Alamgir & Farhiha Pervez
