I remember playing this as a kid,my friend used to come over and we'd play on this map for straight hours... no technique no handling, bumping into everything just to go as fast as we could... it was on arcade mode because I just love the concept of free cars on every map. no microtransactions , no multiplayer, just us playing on the split screen... back in the days man...
And also no DLC practices and no always ONLINE ONLY game required.
Came here for video quality, stayed for quality driving
This brings back serious memories.
Mid 2000s, summer holidays, windows wide open, summer breeze comes in, playing GT4 for hours on end.
The graphics shock me to this day.
This game was and still is unrivalled.

This was THE ULTIMATE racing game back in the day! so many cars, and it had RALLY-TRACKS even back then!
yep gt6 doesn't look much better. the series has always had great graphics. i must say this driver is good but if you ever had to try for the a license test on this track a ton of times you would be too.. i loathed that test...but i was fantastic at this course by the time i passed lol
This track really needs to be added in GTSport, nice driving.

Hell yeah, I miss all the classic tracks from many GT's... GT Sport only have a few real tracks and the same that any other racing game has, I only like Nurburgring, they didnt even bothered including Laguna Seca fuck it.
I wonder how cool would it be on GT Sport to have like Japan mountain roads and so many other almost unknow tracks from all around the world, not just the few shitty same tracks that every one already knows and play on any other game...
And I miss some Polyphony Digital own tracks, don't know why they didnt added them instead of just real shitty tracks.

guily6669 the new tracks are not shitty, the Tokyo layouts are great (especially the Central Inner/Outer Loops). It’s so much fun (and clean) racing online with other A(+)/S drivers. It makes me forget about Laguna Seca (I would rather have Watkins Glen or Road America anyway).
@@GerardoHernandezF87M2 I don't like it... Its just a highway kind of road for high speed... I wish there was the mountain drift small roads, other smaller tracks and also the imaginary tracks made by Polyphony Digital...
Even Project Cars that barely have a career is very, VERY FAR AWAY from GT which have always been the most complete racing game ever made with an actual full career...
I miss having to buy the actual car that could win a certain race, there was lots of normal crappy cars to chose, there was a few tuning parts to buy, we could wash the car, change oil........ GT Sport barely has "normal cars", I mean crappy cars that I see here on the road, theres just a few and only the best versions, like they even cared making Peugeot 208 which is a bloody shitty car, but where is things like 106, 206...
The game has a nice gameplay, but the rest is just booring for me specially when I only like Nurburgring and its the only track I actually played for god damn 100 hours mostly just time trials alone (Someone please kill me in the head :) ).
i can't believe this is a ps2 game, one of the best looking ps2 game i ever seen.
It runs on an emulator at 8x the original resolution. Look in the description.
Then look FinalFantasy 12 on ps2 that game was jewel and took all possible hardware to run it

I just don’t know what it is, but no modern day GT (GT6, GTSport, etc etc) will come close to the perfection of Gran Turismo 4.
GT6 was also pretty good and had its good things, I liked the extra events like the Goodwood festival, now GT Sport completely needs the awesome other tracks and special events, I'm tired of the god damn low track count and they are all just real tracks, I liked some of the Polyphony digital made tracks from past titles and they didnt even included the god damn Laguna Seca which is my 2nd favourite real track.
On GT Sport they are like we will only include real tracks and shit so we are like awesome, we will have so many crazy tracks all from real life fully detailed and even on that they failed, they just include very little of them and are just the tracks that every other racing game out there have, I wonder wheres the crazy almost unknow small tracks from Japan and other places in the world...
I only like Nurburgring and its actually the only track I play on GT Sport, I just keep doing time trial in it and didnt even bothered making a single race of the actual career that they added later in a update (like if GT was never a singleplayer game with a full career to explore).
I platinated GT6, but GT Sport just makes me pissed, so much potential wasted to the shitty tracks they added and no special events, its now more a multiplayer focused game which I actually didnt even bothered making a single online race.
guily6669 - completely agree, for me GT6 died when the online support was cut off.. I used to do those challenge races they had that refreshed every now and again.
GT Sport is just disappointing overall, I just don’t like the look and feel of the game, single player is boring after a while, and I don’t really feel the need to PAY for additional service for a game that’s “online only” it’s stupid to me. The biggest complaint I have by far is completing the “daily workouts” and winning a prize car... that I might’ve already purchased or won.. and THEN not being able to SELL that prize car for money. I don’t need 7 Aston Martin Gr. 3 Race Cars in my garage. I hope Polyphony gets back to the basics with the next installment.
GT sport lacks only in terms of offline play but it s online game and it destroys all other gt in everything else especially in sound,gt finally have top sound

These are the kinda tracks i miss from gt, smashing down that hill and braking furiously to make the turn at the bottom is so much more satisfying than some of the tracks we get now. Is this played on emulator?

Wow this beats most modern day racers, the graphics, frame rate, car physics is just phenomenal. Hands down the best racing sim I’ve ever played and would happily buy a ps2 today just to play this again

I heard there are plans for a new Initial D, but is not focused on Takumi and the plot is more focus on a time that autonomus and eletric cars took over and that these gasoline or diesel cars are only used for racing purposes (inside of a track). Kinda weird plot... I think the main character is supose to be an english young adult, studying about "driving" (i don't know if mechanic engineering or simply to become a pilot?), and his studies lead him to travel to Tokyo.
Take this with a grain of salt, i have seen/heard this, don't know where.
I love the fact that none of those phrases wrote in italian on the track make any sense.

I remember the time when my Parents left me in the play area when i was a kid and they had PS2 with Gran Turismo 4 back there. I loved it.
I still own a ps2 with gt4 and had played it myself for a long time , got through alone upto almost 97% completion and stopped there , was a really hard earned almost 97% completion ...

I remember when I had this incredible game in my ps2.
Aw man I remember playing hours upon hours of this game. I got it second hand and the disc was scratched to hell and back so it'd work sometimes, so I remember scouring different stores and eventually found a good disc for like £2 or so.
It is awesome to see that there are still people playing Gran Turismo 4 and even posting new gameplay videos on UA-cam!

How did you gain such great driving? The way that you did some corners and exit with such precision was eye catching.
I do believe practicing the track over and over and get to know the car, are key, but there's driving skills that come along with the driver, for whatever race you are into. How did you develop such skills?

And i don't know if Grand Turismo 4 had a steering wheel support, back in the days.
@TyredTyres Thanks for the info. I never knew. But back in the days, i was a kid and as long as i had a controller, i was good to go. Just a shame my PS2 died on me and can't play the classics that i have :( The PS2 and it's games are now only just for the memories
After a few thousand laps you have the muscle memory for a track like this. I could do fast laps without touching the walls on a controller, but only the other way around.
It brings Good memories. When I played gt 4 I was 7 or 8 years old and I didn't win any race, but I enjoyed and learned a lots.

Because GT4 there's no cockpit views. They would just model the exterior and that's it. It was very few cars with (kinda) detailed cockpits and they were blurry and ugly still except that roadster you could drive around in free roam on a track.
GTS is oriented multiplayer, and transition. Is not a real GT experience.
I miss this track and some other tracks from older gran turismo

One of those classic games that did every thing right. Besides the game pulled off a technical feat in producing so graphics to put a cherry on top the realistic game play.

@@safetyfirst5917 My PS3 is the 80GB software backwards compatible PS3... it used to play GT4 in full 1080i until a random patch back in like 2010 that made me play it in 480P... I think I heard now that my PS3 on current software won't even play GT4... pretty sad how Sony does this.
Damn good driving. Miss the days where you can deck out your car in a certain class and just dominate the other racers. Now they either don't let you upgrade your car or they others also match your upgrades.

I'm actually proud to say I was born too late to experience the ps1 (even though I'm 23 and grew up with an n64) because once you play GT on a ps2 then you play GT2 on the ps1 it's just not the same. Much less detail in the games back then. GT2 is a great game but GT3 and GT4 are outstandingly great
