Here’s another really great cover song from my music collection.
The Cliftonaires all hailed from North Jersey and New York. Group members singing on “MY VOW TO YOU” are Joel Katz (1st tenor), Phil Granito (2nd tenor), the late Wayne Smith (baritone), the late Jack Scandura (bass), and Ami Ortiz, (not an original member; guest artist) is singing lead. Ami has been the lead singer for the well-known singing group, “The Chantels” since 1995.
The Cliftonaires’ version of “MY VOW TO YOU” is a cut from a CD titled, “IT’S NICE”. The CD was released in 2007 by the late Ronnie Italiano (known as Ronnie I) of Clifton Music. He opened his CLIFTON MUSIC STORE in 1972 and it closed in 2012.
Ronnie I started U.G.H.A. in 1976 which created a resurgence of interest in vocal groups when at that time many vocal groups were "off the grid" and forgotten. United in Group Harmony Association was an organization dedicated to the preservation of vocal group harmony. U.G.H.A. provided the opportunity to see the groups and hear the music that was seldom or never heard on commercial radio. Ronnie I created the first "Hall of Fame" for vocal groups and balanced running his record store, radio show, record label, U.G.H.A. and promoting concerts and still found time to produce and record many vocal acts who might never have had any recordings. In addition, he was responsible for having reunited many acts for his U.G.H.A. shows who may never have ever sung together again!
He has produced and released so many recordings by so many artists that it's impossible to list them here. His sincere dedication to the vocal acts from the 1950's and 1960's was a labor of love.
Although, Ronnie I is no longer with us, his many contributions and efforts have left his indelible mark on doowop music forever. He was a very dear friend and is sadly missed.
“MY VOW TO YOU” was originally recorded by The Students (Note #10019) 1959 and released again by them on (Checker #1004) 1962. It has been covered by many artists.

There have been several great covers of this lovely tune originally from the Students outta Cincinnati because it's simply such a stunningly beautiful song. My two favorite covers are from Younger Dayz (acapella) and Lola and the Saints. This one is also a great cover, but I think nobody beats Younger Dayz, IMO.
The best copy ever this was made very pretty no miss or change words or going to fast or slow but with perfection

Outstanding very smooth version I prefer the kind of raw version of the original it's that haunting dissonance of the first note it's held on to and then the new falsetto throughout one of those Perfect songs

I will try to check them out my problem is all I got is a smartphone and I'm old school and anti computer so it takes me awhile keep in touch because you obviously have some real taste and this music that those of us are keeping alive this keeps us going and it's a beautiful thing when you get young people listening to it and they go wow what was that and you start to clue them in to a time when people played instruments and they actually sang and put their heart and soul into their voice

Hi Gary, great to hear from you again. The Mints had a rough January. Mrs. Mint, Little Mint and me came down with Covid 19 UGH! I have COPD and stage 4 emphysema, so it hit me the worse. I was in the hospital for 5 days and on oxygen for 10 days after returning home. I'm just starting to get my strength back. Music is a great healer. Listen, Ami Ortiz never sang with Younger Dayz. Their female leads name is Eadie Fuentes.
