Gabby, I think all of us in your audience are very proud of your accomplishments on the AT. You’ve hiked a ton of miles, and you made the right decision to take care of yourself. The trail will always be there for you. Your videos are very well done and I look forward to more. Take care and hike on! Trigger (AT 2019).
Good Job ! Great Job I mean. I have watched all your videos for 2 years now (maybe not every minute ... but always the beginning and end). i was in the Outdoor center in Franklin when you came in with a few other women , i didnt want to bother you, but smiled when i saw you. We also camped at the same site when we were 1 day out of the NOC. You were next to a section hiker that day , and she forgot her tent the next morning in all that rain, it was nice and bundled up, and leaning against a tree. We had a big debate and decided to leave the tent there. I will try again next year. I did not complete the trail this year. For '24 I am debating starting over like you did. But I think i will pick up where i left off. And if i make it all the way , maybe make it a flip flop. We shall see. thanks for all the tips and comments. it was very helpful.
Hey, Gabby! I've commented several time, but I haven't told you I have two daughters about your age - and everything you're going through is so familiar to me . . . you are an amazing young lady, and you have such a good head on your shoulders. There IS life outside of the trail and you need to explore it. Ignore the haters - their lives are so pathetic they only get pleasure from trying to knock down others. So glad to hear from you again! Looking forward to maybe a few of those hikes around your area (maybe even with Josh?)
I was worried having not heard from you but suspected you needed alone time. Glad you are better and I will definitely be along with you watching here as you complete the AT next year. Take care.
I don’t understand how anyone can leave a hateful comment but I hear it happens to every you tuber. It was so awesome seeing the Appalachian Trail from my comfy kitchen sofa ❤
@@TheJhtlag I'm aware of that. But she mentioned that she has gotten some nasty comments, so just reassuring her that MOST of us understand and that NONE of us has a right to judge her.
Thank you for the update. I think if you hiked with Josh that would be amazing and that might solve your homesick issues. Would like to see you complete the AT. Maybe you could try a shorter trail because I think you really like to hike. I enjoy your videos look forward to any future videos. I wish you the best, please stay safe, enjoy your hiking, thank you for sharing.
Attempted a thru hike of the AT this year and can relate to your story. Left the trail at Damascus with my husband. I felt we weren't enjoying the hiking like we usually do. Decided to section hike the trail instead. Didn't feel a thru hike was a necessary goal for us and don't want to rush through the trail and towns to make miles.
Gabby, my wife and I have enjoyed your videos. You should be very proud of your accomplishments with no remorse. Best wishes to you in which ever road you decide to take. 😊😊
I've enjoyed so much following your journey. I hiked 110 miles on the AT this year - tough trail! I've hiked a thousand miles on the PCT and I think it's a lot easier than the AT. Just like you're planning I bought a 3 man tent hoping my husband would join me at some point on these long trails - he hasn't yet but I'm still hoping! I love the extra space so to me it's worth the extra weight. I try to keep everything else ultralight.
Thanks for the update. I really enjoyed meeting you this year at the Happy Gnomads and am so impressed with the hike you completed this year. I, too, am off trail for various reasons and am considering my options in the coming years. I left trail at Harper’s Ferry but am still putting out videos from the trip. Good luck in whatever you decide is best for you, and never forget that you are amazing!
Thank you for your videos. It's been great to follow you, and you definitely made the right choice. You are young and I think the goals you are making sounds great, especially the chance to experience the trail with your boyfriend. And I must say your location sounds like a dream place to live. And great job rescuing the kittens !!
Totally understand if you're not enjoying being out on the trail taking a break from it. I'm sure you will finish the rest of the trail and looking forward to seeing the next journey. Thanks again for taking us along, do enjoy your videos.
So pleased to see and hear you once again. I loved your hike and followed you through thick and thin. I feel you did the right thing by getting off when you did. Hope you take care of yourself and find joy somewhere/somehow every day.
You just do what you feel you have to do! If you decide to complete the AT next year, I'll watch the vids. Good luck with your next steps in life, with Josh, a house, a job and a bunch of kitties!
It is really a great thing that you have the breathing room to make a different choice. To be able to get out of burn out and do something else isn't always a choice that is so easily available. Glad you took advantage of it.
Whew! there you are... Just saying "I'm not having fun" is a good enough answer by itself. It may sound frivolous but maybe there are a lot of better options out there. Don't worry about the haters, they're everywhere, you might need a thicker skin though, just tell them to f-off and don't take it personally, they're just everywhere. And yes, it's probably time to unpack the backpack ;^)
Great to see you again Gabby. Don't be a stranger 😊 I don't think I could do any of the really long trails as a single shot thru hike. I would stop having fun, and that's the whole point of hiking for me. Finish when you can and tell people you hiked the whole trail. I look forward to seeing future videos about whatever your destination is.
You have to do what's best for you. Take your time on house buying. The market is dropping. Housing is very overpriced now. In a year or two the prices will be a lot better. AI will eliminate many jobs so there will be more houses on the market from that. Look at the River Country Tent that actually fits 2 people comfortably. I like their ponchos too. Take Care, Rick
Hello! Sounds like your made the right decision for you. You know what is best for your mental status and your body. So, what kind of idiot would make fun of you or leave hurtful comments. Probably some kind of dope who has no clue what it takes or how hard it really is. I hope you find peace and serenity in your decision. I like watching your channel and hope you find the time and the passion to go back and finish. Good Luck!
It was a privilege to see the hike through your eyes. Thank you for sharing both good and bad. Your videos are great and give a more balanced view of what to expect. Good luck!
Please celebrate and be proud of all the miles you completed. Your courage and perseverance was extraordinary. You can find contentment with or without an AT finish. Stay sweet, stay strong.
You did great Gabby! So many miles done. I understand the hiking burnout. I didn’t hike as many miles as you, but I did spend my whole summer hiking and probably got close to 800 miles of hiking done with the AT and other hikes, and I’m feeling uninterested lately too. It happens. Take time and do what’s best for you and your future. You will finish someday
Glad to hear from you! I understand why you got off, but be proud of your accomplishment, you are always called in prayer by your trail name because I don't know your real name lol. Take care and Blessings on all you do!!
You are a brave and strong young woman. Congratulations on your 1200 miles. So happy you are ok and working things out. Prayers for your bright future.
I'm not gonna lie, I miss your videos from trail. But I'm glad you are doing what you need to for you and I'll continue to watch. Take care of yourself and thank you for the update.
Hey girl, I am 65 and you are so young. Timing in life can mean a lot. You have many years to come to follow dreams and seek adventure and I believe it would be awsome to do it with a significant other. Keep us informed from time to time.
Good morning 🌄🌞 from Chitral Pakistan! Lots of love and respect from a solo mountain hiker friend from the Hindu Kush Mountains Lower Chitral District of Pakistan!
Thanks for the post, I was wondering what happened to you. It's a hard thing to do sometimes--confronting our feelings and admitting where you are. Sometimes it's easier to just push our feelings aside and carry on, doing what's expected. Not to sound overly Pollyanna but I have learned a few things about myself from you. I hope you stay on UA-cam. Be Well.
I remember you saying that you live near Fontana Dam. I followed both of your thru hiking attempts of the AT, and I have a question for you. I'm in the planning stages of a section hike from Neel Gap to Davenport Gap/I-40/Standing Bear in March 2025. I don't know of anyone who would shuttle me from Standing Bear all the way down to Neel Gap, so I was trying to think of alternatives. One of the things that occurred to me was leaving my car around the Fontana Dam area and then either hiking on and shuttling back, or driving up, shuttling back and hiking up to the car again. My question for you is this: Is there anywhere in the Fontana Dam area that would be a good place to leave the car? I understand that cell phone reception isn't the greatest in the marina/shelter/visitor center area if I needed to contact a shuttle. Do you have any recommendations?
We all have to make decisions that are best for ourselves. The trail will be there when you are ready. Kudos on you and Josh rescuing some kitties. 👍🏻😺😺
Thanks for the update! Sudden routine changes can be jarring. It must be really weird going from hiking daily to any other routine! Good attitude on certain comments too.
Thank you for the update. It takes a strong person to recognize a problem and to act on it! I loved your videos seeing the trail thru your eyes. The AT isn't going anywhere, take the time to manage your future. Peace and love to you and Josh.
Hey Girl … you do you. It was your hike and you invited us to join. I thank you for that. Will miss you but hope to see you from time to time . Take care
Gabby, glad to hear from you, I was hoping you were OK. Your decision is very well thought out. You explained it perfectly. I followed you in 2022 and this year. I'm 69yo and if I've learned anything it is that timing is everything. In my life as I made big decisions the crucial element was the "green light" to take action. A yellow or red light wouldn't do it. As far as the disgusting 1% I've heard it said that for non-believers no explanation is possible, for the believers no explanation is necessary. I have enjoyed your trail videos very much and I'm sure your story is just beginning. Hike safe and be sure to update your followers of your new adventures. Kevin-Rome NY
You have a beautiful and gentle heart. Take care of that heart as best you can. You are stronger that most who cannot see their own heart which allow them make decisions that keep it strong, happy and healthy. You can/have/ are teaching others that it is good that it is important to listen to their inner self. Continue to move forward with your gift of grace
Hey Gabby! Thanks so much for the update! Im glad I got the chance to meet you in Gatlinburg last year. I am looking to “finish” my hike from last year in sections. I do plan on another thru hike attempt in 5 years so maybe our paths will cross again. Stay strong, keep chasing your dreams! Thanks for bringing us along! Your friend, Jukebox!
Hey good to see you’re doing ok. You did amazing on the AT. Sometimes you just gotta fall back and regroup. I get it. Cheering for you all the way. You’re awesome. Cheers 🍺🍺☮️
Thanks for the update. Sweetie you need to block any one that doesn’t have something good to say. God bless you I know you will finish the trail one day and I’ll be right here watching you. I just have one question if you don’t mind answering it. What kind of work do you do ??? ❤❤❤⛺️🥾
you did what was best for you. completing most of the Appalachian trail is a true accomplishment. Iam super proud of you. looking forward to seeing your next adventures

Gabby, you don't have to explain yourself to any of us!I It's your life and your hike. 🙂 I think finishing it up next year is a great idea.
She doesn't, but something like this is catharsis, she's really explaining it to herself.

You owe no one an explanation.
1200 miles is epic.
Wishing you the best.
The only thing that makes sense is that you’re doing what feels the best for you physically and mentally.
I am super jealous that you live next to the AT. 👍👊🇺🇲
Loved watching. You are amazing ❤
