The band is just roarin' here! Jagger is totally on fire, Keith laying down the shaking grove, Taylor soloing on the fills with the Les Paul, Bill and Charlie driving the machine full bore, Price, Keyes and Hopkins adding that special fill.
Rock n Roll at its finest and BEST....
Damn right, brother!
I could not write it better than you did here. The band is ON IT. I’m pretty sure this is the first song too. MickJ warming his month and lips up early in this video. Not sweaty either,…or yet I mean?!
Best live version
@@drjbraun Yep, this is the opening number from the film "Ladies and Gentlemen The Rolling Stones"...and if that edit is to be believed, it shows them taking the stage and starting the concert off with this number.
If you've not seen that PLEASE, do yourself a favor, this is the film of the tour from Exile....the Stones at arguably their best.
Meanwhile I'm on a train and some idiot is playing "music" on his phone. Some new stuff is good (Camp, Mt. Joy), but honestly, how can you listen to modern "pop" and not be bored? It's the same old beats over and over with the same old synth and auto-tuned vocals over the same old re-processed "melodies" copied and pasted from software.
Read your history . The Stones earned the right to perform this honest tribute to black culture . Their entire career has been a homage to black culture . Where do you think their name comes from ? Well if you don't know , start finding out before the whole world is painted GREY .
Earned the right😂😂😂 who tf are you and what drugs do u take. .they didnt earn shit. Dudes just sucked black music tits forever
Blah blah blah

It’s not blacks fault, we don’t care!! It’s the liberal minds

50 years of Sticky Fingers and still a masterpiece. Rolling Stones are timeless.
Rest in peace Charlie, thanks for the beautiful music 💔💔

So darn fantastic; way to bring us the ROLL!!! Glorious Stones!!!♦️♠️♦️♣️♦️
Micks’s vocalizations; performance art is at the top so so cool, he’s a fireball, I can’t take my eyes off him!! 😘
1:03 I love the look Mick gives Keith during concerts :D
Ah, good old fashioned Rock n Roll from the early 70's! Still gives me goosebumps!
That look from that period was because keef had a habit of turning his back to the audience and playing to CharlieWatts. Mick had to remind KR to turn around and play facing to the crowd.
@@drjbraun I always thought it was so cool when Keith would play facing Charlie. It shows that they are really grooving together
Hear that deep, dark, raunchy, sound that ripples through the song from the bowels of the earth, lifting the song. That folks is a Wyman bassline, absolutely fantastic!
Anybody who s seen the Stones on those days has probably seen the best live ever.
Hehe
Confirm, was at Brussell 73, my first rock concert and never saw such a level after.
I was at the October '70 concwert in Frankfurt West Germany - FN A
RIP Charlie everything would never be the same without you
Amen!
Amen to that too 👊🏾 🖤
Rest in peace Charlie
I think you went the long way around in TRYING to say, "nothing will be the same without you"...🤪
@Jacquie Hayes The Stones wouldn't have gone this far without Charlie. If it weren't for him, the band would've ended a long time ago
I drove straight through, non-stop, from San Francisco to Houston in 1972 in my old Volkswagen van to see them. Every venue in California sold out within minutes! Arrived just in time to see the best rock band in the world!
Great story
why didn’t you see them in winterland? they played 4 shows (edit: lmao my dumbass didn’t see the final part)
VOLKSWAGEN. Nice. German Car's are the best right?
😢😢😢😢
What a legendary sax player. RIP Bobby Keys. You will be missed.
Don't retire the song..it addresses the horrors of slavery..and it rocks and I'm a black sister..people don't understand what they don't know..
Yeah, it's like retiring a movie like Amistad, or Ten Years A Slave. It's a story like all the rest.
I wish more black poeple would stand up against this woke nonsense like you
Sending love to you girl!!
U don't understand and that's ok
What a shame that they (specially Mick) have decided to never play this fantastic, perfect rock n' roll song live again.
They should change tour name from The No Filter Tour to The Filter Tour!!! This is VERY Disappointing and Sad!
@@craig206 Totally agree! Filter and Censor Tour 🙄
They hit a dangerous level which blew up in their faces
Too bad
@@georgegreenberg3784 dangerous level? What?
He will play as long the Stones live.....sad Charlie passed away!
The Stones already had the top front man of all time, one of the greatest rythym guitarist, song writer of all time. WAtts and Wyman on the back end. Then you add a lead guitarist that ends up in the top 40 all time... Yeah this is going to be a good band!
Keef and MT sounded SO freaking great together. MT lit fires with his lead/slide playing, and nobody lays down a rhythm like Keef did back in the day. I strongly disagree with people that say that MT WAS THE BEST GUITARIST IN THE STONES EVER EVAR EVAR!!!!!!!!!! (drools and drags knuckles). I simply believe that the two of them were the best guitar duo in the history of Rock n Roll.
Ed Russell this.
Couldn't agree more, they both complimented each other perfectly
They're great but dickie Betts and Duane Allman blow em away
Jonathan Acquaviva I wouldn’t say that, it’s surely close though... Even Duane and Clapton on the Layla album
Excellent point Ed. Most star /hot gutiar players never really play off another player and were the only guitar player - Clapton, Townsend, Beck, Hendrix , Page, Van Halen etc. I disagree about Allman and Betts as that was more duelng guitars and duel leads in the Southern rock tradition - a tradition which has not stood the test of time outside of hardcore fans. Betts and Allman have distinct styles but play the same type of leads. But Mick T and Keith really complimented each other by being total opposites and neither again reached the heights they hit when they played together. I doubt if generations to come will be watching videos of Whipping Post.
Rolling stones music makes you feel alive and band are legeranaly
A song that doesn't deserve being excluded of any Stones concert.
@UC4olqKccR-vvh_kbTs-8z7g there`s nothing wrong with the lyrics

MT and Charlie seemed to have done some Smack that night too. Bill always use to smoke 3 joints before the show

I was at this concert on the 2nd row. Best concert ever. Love the Stones always. I have seen them in concert 4 times and loved every minute of it. Truly the best rock and roll band ever!
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.

Mick is laying out just good old rock and roll and I'm loving it ❤❤🎉
Love me some Rolling Stones...
BEST BAND EVER!!!! I just got chills..❤❤
Jehhhh
The few shots we see of Charlie Watts on his drums, he's so intense. He has said that he never can enjoy himself most of the time onstage. On this number, it's like he's fighting a life-or-death battle to keep the beat going.
Somebody has to be the grown up in the room.
And here it is again: Mick looks at Keith for a smile or acknowledgement. It's in every "old" video. They love each other despite what they say in public.
+pup lover Altmont is the best exemple and Hampton 81, keef wll always be there for Mick
Mick Thunder True!
+pup lover your totally right man - they're practically brothers! At 1:00 is a great one of those
Stuart McNulty YES! I love that moment. Moments like that are all over the old vids (especially Dead Flowers.) It strikes me because Mick seems so autonomous but I think the one person in the universe he truly loves and respects is Keith.
pup lover despite MT coming in, the old school-tie was always Mick and Keith. MT knew he contributed a hell of a lot on Sticky Fingers and his great solos ALAS MT didn't actually write the songs. Fantastic blues guitar player but not a songwriter. Great the Stones got him back for the last few tours, even though it was intermittent.
If St Peter says, welcome to Heaven. You get to pick one band to watch live for eternity. I’m picking the Stones in the Mick Taylor years. The energy is incredible
Rolling Stones give roots music , combining styles. This is a good example. Bob did roots, rock and reggae. Here we have another electic mix .
A very happy birthday to Mr Bobby Keys!
Bobby has played with the Stones since 1969.
Here he is playing the sax solo on Brown Sugar.
And happy Birthday Keith R.

Rest in peace, Bobby. You were the funky blow to so many great songs from my youth. Your talent will be sorely missed.
Interviewer: So why don't you sing more songs Keith?
Kieth: Then what would Mick Do?
LOL!! gota love the stones!
+MovieHound17 LOL, Keef!
Mick Thunder We agree usually on all things Stones, but Keith is not a better singer than Mick. Even Keith would admit that. Keith has a very interesting voice that's great for some songs.
Keef sang in a boy's choir. He was very good and absolutely loved it. But when his voice changed, he had to leave the group and his entire world collapsed. He was devastated.
Then his grandfather introduced him to the guitar and his mother bought him his first one. He learned to play by listening to records.
One day his mother put her head around the corner. "Was that you playing? I thought it was the radio." That was the turning point. From then on, he forgot all about singing...
@@puplover7991 Keith in an interview answer to a question "why are you still with Jagger"? : cause he is the best.

Simply at the top of their game. the originators of just about everything. Started out with white man blues, gave truth to punk, 80's rock..

One year after this, Aerosmith debuted with their first album. Look at Mick Jagger 's moves on this clip and discover where Steven Tyler got his from.
Luca Castellaro It’s hardly a secret that Tyler was a Jagger imitator 😂
@@averyetvspecial1487 for a 50 years old guy like me not for sure, but maybe for some kids out there who thinks Aerosmith and the Stones come from the same museum's room 😉
I think you like it because he has moves like Jagger.
Mick Taylor slayed man... He made the Stones relevant in the early 70s. Literally changed the live aspect of the band outside of Mick Jagger's showmanship.
What did Mick Taylor play?
@@robertthacher-ro6bh From a band standpoint, he was just another guitarist, not labeled Lead or Rhythm. But from critics and music pundits, he was a lead guitar player in live settings. I can't remember what critic said it, but they said that Richards had the cutting/jagged technique while Taylor was more melodic and fluid during live shows.
@@Mff21 Thx for the info. I always think of Richard as the lead player!
Rubbish!

Damn...how much did Mick Taylor add to the 'Stones sound?!?!?! He was amazing!
No fucking shit. I've collected his solos on various Stones boots over the years. That's what "lead guitar" means to me...
he did't write them, he played them, Keith is the riff master.
Correct. Keith is the total Riff King. But there's no denying that Taylor colored those riffs with fine lead work...
He kind of overplayed a lot of the time. a hundred notes where ten would do.
Rolling Ormond Probably because he was bored playing the same, simplistic riffs over and over again.
the pinnacle of rock n roll was the Stones circa 1972-73
I'm here before this gets woked!
By “woked” , you mean black people find out he made slavery rape songs. 🤦♂️
....are you talking about the racist lyrics??? Or the rest of the crap

This was their best US tour ever. Post Altamont, and pre Keith's drug addiction. Mick Taylor was on fire, they were writing quality stuff and The Beatles were gone. I first saw them in Earls Court in 1976, and it was very poor,Ronnie had only just joined and it sounded like there was very little practice before they went out on tour. Im sure it got better as the tour progressed, but the London dates were rough. I didn't see them again until 82, in Amsterdam for the opening date of the european tour, one wembley date and the closing date of the tour in Leeds. They were tight and had it all together. I've seen them thirty times, at least since, as I am living in the US now, and I doubt they have been as good and raw as they were in 72.
I saw them on this tour; 4th of July in Wash., DC. Stevie Wonder was the opening act. Agree with everything you said- just unbelievable.
ImaCaMan unfortunately, I didn’t see that tour but caught it on DVD when it came out. Unbelievable !
No. The 1976 tour did not get better as it progressed. It was a shit tour shit sound and generally poor. I went to both shows in Cologne, so I know. The Paris shows were poor. Love you Live was poor and I thought the Stones were dead. They recovered but the golden era was over.
