Rest in peace, Wrighty, a friend on the radio for four decades ! You'll be missed mate, thanks for the music and entertainment down the years! Legend...
Steve Wright was with me every day in the van. No matter where they sent me, no matter how awful the job, how cold I was, how hungry I was… he was there with me making life … better. Thank you, Steve for everything.
Never see the like ever again. Thank you for all the fantastic music over the years and keeping us entertained and being so genuine which is a rarity.. RIP Steve 😢
Totally devastated by the awful news of Steve Wrights sudden passing. He was a true broadcasting giant, someone I'd grown up listening to, first on Radio 1 then on Radio 2. Legend is a word used far to often, but he truly was one. Heaven FM about to get a huge boost, Terry and Steve reunited. Go with all our love and gratitude for a job well done, thanks Steve, Rip
I can’t remember being so devastated about the death of a person I didn’t know! Yet, he was a friend - and that’s how I’m sure we all feel! Tragic, absolutely tragic to lose him! My wife and I still can’t believe it - it’s still such a shock and incredibly sad! 😢
my feelings totally the afternoons were great 3 hours , and what has happened now we all have to face change , but the replacement well its a totally different show not in the real league , and yesterday listening to Johnnie Walker on Sounds of the seventies he is stepping down the last of the old guard is gone , but at least Bob Harris will carry on the good work
This news has rocked me to the core…a stable part of life throughout troublesome times….miss you Wrighty and a huge thank you. See you on the other side whenever, ❤
I'll always be grateful for those drives home from work when finishing work early on Fridays. Never met, spoke to, or even knew what he looked like yet felt like a mate. Clearly loved his job and will be sorely missed by a lot of people. Cheers Steve!
Thank you for everything Steve. All those times working alone, or stuck in traffic. Who knew you could grieve over the loss of a familiar stranger. RIP x
Steve Wright brightened up the afternoon, the BBC were shameful in getting rid of him and should be ashamed. This departure contributed to his death and it's horrible. R.I.P.
Devastated at the loss of a great friend I never met, thank you Steve for entertaining me through the years. Good night, God bless Steve a whole generation and more will miss you. Thank you for the music ❤️🙏
Steve Wright in the Afternoon in the 80s was my daily escape from the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. Whenever I heard his voice in the past 40 years, it would stop me in my tracks because it was always interesting and funny to listen to. His shows unfailingly left a smile on my face (and a new factoid in my brain). Good bless, Wrightey, and thank you for all the laughter. ❤
Rest easy Steve it’s been a pleasure listening to you. And shame on the BBC for replacing you on your afternoon show they obviously don’t have a clue who listens to the show.
Such a sad end for such a great broadcaster and communicator . Grew up listening to Steve in the 80’s up until now. So upsetting he’s gone and we’ll never hear him on the radio again . Rest well Sir and thank you 🙏
Kicked in the teeth by the bbc,he must of been deverstated,he said he was cool about it,but that was largely him being told what to say by the BBC,totally disgusting what they did to him and Ken!

I'm feeling very Angry that Steve has left us. A massive, massive, loss - my childhood "to live for" dj, but I'll always remember his sound advice, and if I ever need to know the time I'll GET MYSELF A WATCH! Gervaise is over and out. Just heartbroken. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Indeed - his show was essential listening in the afternoon - especially during the late 80s and 90s. Brilliant DJ and comedian. British radio is all the worse for him not being there………
I've listened to Steve since day one, like a lot of listeners I didn't really listen for the music but all the crazy stuff, Radio 1 with the posse, then Radio2 with all the characters, Mr Angry, 'Old woman' 'ask Elvis' and my favourite 'Sid the manager'!!! showbiz gossip, factoids, all the nonsense,it was so entertaining,he gave every show 110%, then they gave him the chop!!! afternoons have never been the same since then,I don't even put the radio on in the afternoon, one of the most original, creative broadcasters of our generation, gone too soon, RIP Steve.

Very poignant to hear Steve Wright last show. I will miss his show, it always brought happiness in the afternoon for me with his sense of fun, guests and great music he played. I feel very sad to say goodbye to Steve and the afternoon show. God bless.
Steve kept us laughing on the school bus back in the 1980s, and here we are now, I'm almost retired, overseas and listening to him online. Rest in peace Steve, thank you for being the soundtrack that we all grew up with.
I will never forget Steve on Radio 1 especially Mr Angry from Purley. and the single he released The Gay Cavalieros (The Story So Far...). What a pure genius. R.I.P. Mr Wright...
It was lovely but sad, hearing this again. Those voices and the jingles represented happy feelings. That closure recording has left an ache and an emptiness.....
Met Steve wright outside egton house in London in 1986, he had just finished his Radio One afternoon show…he was quite a shy man believe it or not, did speak to the man and got his autograph that I still got to this day…RIP Wrighty you were truly loved by your listeners

It was all a bit silly but definitely made the working afternoon pass quicker !! My 1st job after training for 18 months as a Radar engineer in the RAF , was at RAF Locking in 1981. I’m gonna miss hearing love songs on a Sunday as this was one of my precious memories of my dearly departed Mother. We listened to him whilst making a roast dinner. RIP Steve…. You helped me make some amazing memories. 😢❤

A truely wholesome human being. Funny, entertaining, interesting and also not crude at all. Late 60s is still too young to be gone these days. If I could love my work just a fraction of how much he loved his, my life would be completely different!
The thing is, people told Steve he was brilliant and a legend and he probably did know he was "All Right" but the saddest thing is he has no idea how much literally millions of people are mourning and so saddened by his sudden demise, I think his heart was quite literally broken, shame on you and you know who you are. There are people who are famously remembered and for all the wrong reasons like, Ratner the Jeweller and Matthew Bannister and now whoever that trollop is that did this.
Scott mills does not come anywhere near this legend and NEVER WILL! What a shit show full of cheese and dance music what the hell is radio 2 coming to!! The boss is responsible for Steve’s death! Heartbroken poor Steve!! Hugely missed and pushed out by a horrible boss!!!😡😡
THIS didnt help Steve losing his prime time show! RIP old mate you WERE RADIO and the soundtrack to so many lives.
