Awesome video! I have the same speaker (8 years old) and it was used heavily on our pontoon. Going to replace the battery this winter. Thanks for posting this, very helpful!
No probs. Glad my video is helping. Make sure if you order the battery, confirm that the connector are positioned at the right spots for easy installations.
Did you already removed the old battery, if yes, the leads should reached for removal and replacement. Try rotating the new battery for closer lead connection. If still not far enough, your red and black lines may be knotted on the other end to prevent line break. You will have to loosen the knots to allow more slack. The other panel is the access to get to the tie-ins. But yes if you have to, splice and extend the red power lead, and black ground lead.
Thank you for helping me figure out how to change the battery so I can use a speaker for a lot longer. For over a 10 year old speaker it has an amazing sound!
@@nickpo.2192 yes these units provide long lasting great sound and range, and with having replaceable rechargeable SLA batteries available (universal), we can extend them for decades.
That is very questionable as to did your charger come with the original package of your ION Road Rocker? Do you have the Road Rocker exactly as pictured and using the same 6V SLA battery? It is recommended to use chargers that are 6V or less (less will be more slow charging, and more time). With a 9V charger (rush charging) on a 6V SLA battery, will shorten battery life, overheat, damage circuits and connections.
@@chrisnumnuts8671 That caught my interest and I looked at my ION speaker on the back where the charging port is also and it says the same as you noted. I am stumped on that. Searching online for ION Road Rocker Battery, all results pointed to the 6V 4.5Ah SLA as the replacement battery. Also to note, there is very few results for the ION Road Rocker, rather more results showing for the BLOCK ROCKER (the more popular). My guess is that it was a major error printed for the charging specs and ION quickly scrapped the Road Rocker and support for it. Overall, my response to the 9V DC 3 amps as printed on the device, "I DON'T KNOW WHY", lol I am not an expert.
@@notaprovee saying that the device will not charge with anything lower than 9v 3amps . it starts charging then turns right off your right strange and the power brick gets hot .learn something every day .thank you for your reply. and yes the battery stuck in solid mine still works so leaving it in till I have to force it out

Thanks so much for your video. I have one I was going to toss out. Now I am going to order a battery and keep it, ❤
No probs. Good to know my video is useful. Thank you for watching.
